Forgot to mention specifically Beardies like their temps during the day around 104-107 degrees with the cool side around 71-77 degrees.

After I say my 5th grade vocab teacher with a bearded dragon as a class pet, I became interested in this kind of reptile.😅

You're braver than me for weighing in on the sand debate😂 I agree with you though. Loose substrate in general is such a touchy subject with some people but I keep everyone on a sand/soil mixture and try to make things as naturalistic as possible. Especially if you want to do bioactive, which 3 of our enclosures are so far, you kind of have to. Edit: oh I will say I'm not a fan of calci-sand though. I feel like that encourages wanting to eat it

I’m happy you agree! I guess this is my first controversial comment 😂😅 I forgot about the calci-sand, I’ll have to ask Zach which one he uses… it’s not that one though 🤔

Such a good video, Its a shame there arent videos like these for people in south Florida. From all the videos I watched the only thing that comes to mind is to instead of getting the UVB light, I just have them chill on the windows while the sun strikes. As for night time, maybe have a light on for it since the Temp is at 67 F at night and remains in the high 70s during the day. As for the Humidifier, since id keep it in my room, I guess I'd need one.

UVB bulbs are a bit more complicated than most people realize. This is the first time I have seen one mounted vertically and I'm not sure if it's a good idea or not. Anyway, the amount of UVB a reptile gets depends how far away it is from the light. Too far away then the UVB is too weak to do any good and too close is dangerous. Some companies have charts for their bulbs showing the distance the bulb should be from your reptile. And bulb intensity varies significantly from one brand to the next so this can impact at what height you have the bulb is mounted across the top of the enclosure. The best way to measure the UVB is with a meter like the Solarmeter 6.5R. These are somewhat expensive at $250 but I don't know any other way you can really know if your reptile is getting the right amount of UVB. Also, UVB bulbs only last so many months (maybe 6 or a little more) before they start losing strength. Another consideration for Bearded Dragons is using Calcium powder with D3 on their insects.

Great comment! With great info. I’m new to this whole vlogging thing and usually leave this part (explaining everything) for my husband to do…. I left out a ton of info trying to keep it a short video. Than you for adding all of that!

My peaches loves to swim in this small carryout bowl. Stands in the tub, stands on the larger drip pan, swims in the small bowl. She hunts her cuc as she only gets live feeders twice a month. I also use to cull my isopods by feeding them off. They also try to swim in a open rainy window. All under this yt handle.

So i do have a question Blue is About 5 to 6 months old ive had her since she was a baby. What my question is She grew up in a regular 75 gallon tank. Recently i just purchased a 75 gallon open front but it is 3 feet tall. This aquarium is huge. Im trying to figure out a way to heat it properly for her. Also where do you keep your uvb light at so that he gets full exposure? Ty

Thanks for watching! So for this enclosure we have his along the inside wall going up and down the side so he gets the rays from where ever he is in his enclosures. In his previous tanks we have had a bar UVB bulb across the top. Have platforms going up to the heat lamps so Blue can get up top and get more heat if she needs it, than I would also have belly heat for her as well at the bottom. Maybe even a beardie hammock! They sell them in Amazon, they are super cute. Let me know if you have anymore questions 😊

Hi, I have a few questions. Do they have to be misted? If so, how often? And what’s the best way(s) to gain their trust? I just got my very first one about 6 days ago. He has a very strong food response and will eat from mine and my families hands but is skeptical about being picked up. Any tips? Great video btw!

be patient with him, and continue to hand feed, no hurried or fast movements, gentle and slow handling, positive association hand feed them treats. give them a gentle lukewarm bath and multiple things for them to hide in but it'll take some time for him to get used to you. mine got used to me in two weeks after getting him after doing everything I just listed
