I think it would be cool to have the big warlord titan claw jutting out of the ground, reaching towards the sky like the classic movie trope of the hand reaching out as somebody sinks into lava

As the warlord titan exploded, one of its parts could have smashed into on of the smaller titans. It would be cool to have one smaller titan penetrated by one of the parts of the warlord titan, like a warhound titan cut in halve by one of the armor panels

I think it'd be cool if the standing reaver titan was ankle-deep in the sand to sell how long it's just been stood there, displaying how the sands of mars have moved without it.

would be cool for the reiver built into the hill side to have some scaffolding like the mechanicum tried to scavenge from it and abandoned the project/ would be a way for players to get up and down the terrain feature

It might get a bit cluttered with this but sprinkling some parts of imperial knights and/or armigers around the board could be cool

I'd suggest leaving a bit more of the central body of Deus Tempestus, just the lower part, maybe made of some sheet styrene - fluted and blown outwards, suggesting that it once was a core of it's body which reactor's explosion has obliterated everything above and bent all the panels on the lower hull.

Pools or little rivers of lava/molten slag could (a) look really cool and (b) offer an opportunity for some of that madly overambitious translucent resin/LED action you lot love so much

You should set the torso up as if it lost its legs and dragged itself back into the fight before succumbing to the damage. I love the idea of a giant god-machine using its guns to try to crawl. "Tis but a flesh wound"

You've already mentioned something similar on the video, but you can consider placing some old scaffolding around some titans to improve LOS blocking and imply some ancient salvage operations.

The craters could be covered in transparent resin to look like the sand had been turned into glass

i think all the ideas are great but you definitely dont want TOO many hero-posed models, i feel like the majority of the titans should be on their side, acting as walls/dividing terrain. as for the warlord, it should definitely be spread out throughout the whole board, perhaps having parts sunk into the ground, where they have become the basis of cliffs, hills and mountains! it should essentially dictate the topography of the overall layout

I am so excited to see where this goes! The idea of a cored Titan is so cool and I think adding gantries to get to the top/ into the melted hole would be awesome for gameplay and for rule of cool!

You should try making it so there is a falling over titan with some sort of melee weapon in its chest and not too far away is another titan missing a arm where the melee weapon was

For the cored out Reaver to make it look like an actual blast wound, maybe use a propane torch to scorch the edges and melt the resin a bit (please wear a respirator and do outside for safety sake).

A titan sprawled through out the table, mid salvage. Various walkways/planks allowing access over the various pieces, with the internals of the titan accessible for indoor combat

9:35 Winter Assault and Dark Crusade both had setpieces featuring fallen Titans! Winter Assault let you fire the weapons on a cooldown in the final mission after getting control of them, if I'm remembering right, and the Titan's name was Dominatus. But it was Dark Crusade that had the stray Titan arm (from the Titan Aquila Ignis) going off on its own, when you're storming the Imperial Guard's stronghold. God those expansions are good.

So pumped, I'm both going to Arc40k and am a regular on the weekends at House of War. Just a genuinely great bunch of people all round. Can't wait!

For the cored titan, to create the hole, you can obviously do the first hole with a large drill bit or a hole saw drill bit, bit to make it look melted, you 'may' be able to use a soldering iron to actually melt the edges of the hole and internals to smooth it all out. and create melted resin bits (and likely burns)

One suggestion I would add would be some of destroyed knights also included in the debris field. Additionally, for a main objective piece, you could try adding the main gate doors of the Magma city (the only parts that survived the city's destruction during the battle)

A tip for Murray. Get one of those thick sheets of foam to act as a sacrificial backing board when using the circular saw, that way you get the support, but you can cut into it without hurting the saw, or the table!

It would be so nice to have the head of the warlord titan on the mountain where the reaver titan is buried, but halfway sliced open.

If you're having titan bits on a table it makes sense to have parts that are interactable with minis...so partially submerged armour plates that can act as cover or huge plates with laser holes big enough for minis to walk through

I have two Ideas: 1: Have the claw of a warlord titan holding the crushed head of a enemy titan to make it look like the warlord ripped it right off from an unlucky opponent( add some tubes and pipes to make it look like a spine is still attached). 2: Turn some of the titans head and bodies into playable areas so players can place figures in for cover and to gain better line of sight.

I would love to see paintings around the trim of the board. On the long sides in the middle the Sigil of Legio Tempestus and on the other Side Legio Mortis, with fitting Ornaments or even scenes of the war on Mars. And on the short sides Arc40ks Logo, your Logo, maybe Sponsors or something else related to the Tournament.

I’m imagining some hermit who’s set up a little living space in the remains of one of the titans, using an armour plate, joints and a few cables to make themselves a little sheltered area, who’s then rudely interrupted by the clash of the forces fighting over the titans.

Some remnant trenches with points were the would have been caved in from titan maneuvers and stray rounds, maybe a bunker or two with large holes from being blasted open using parts from the titans as ramps that create a paths around the defenses

If I lived in Australia I would definitely come to this event..... But I live in the UK soooo..... Love watching these kind of build videos, as for ideas, I don't know if orbital drop weapons exist in 40k but I imagine a massive and deep crater with the remnants of a massive pillar in the middle with the blown up remains of a titan scattered around it (the pillar being the remains of the orbital kinetic energy weapons)

Absolutely LOVE the sound of this project! I'm thinking with all the large titan models, it might be a good idea to have some smaller models to give a better indication of scale and even more of a graveyard feel, such as a couple of Knights and some Armigers. I think that'd really add to the depth. Also, I've checked, Knights do very much fit into the Schism of Mars - House Taranis fought for the loyalist side!

LEDs would be awesome! Especially with the gun burried in the sand. Making it flash or something similar as if its firing again like in DOW would be super cool. Lights in the candles of the shrine would add a lot of atmosphere as well

My main thought is how the techpriests get to the shrine. Like is there an underground tunnel/bunker that they can come up from, do they fly in and have like a landing pad or do they drive there and have like a dirt road leading to the rim of the crater the shrine is in. Also depending on how close that crater is to the gorge the laser is melting maybe some molten rock has slid down into the crater creating a small pool of magma around the titan's feet.

wow, cant believe someone is making a titan graveyard! (i loved the book "mechanicum") cant wait to see how you will tackle adding 10,000 years of constant battering from Martian storms to this build. quick suggestion, mabie make some of the titan parts partially reclaimed (especially the void shield generators and the parts in the head) since, of course, the mecanicus wants this rare and precious technology back. also: mabie some cooled lava puddles or giant shell impacts from the emperator to make the -2 to movement craters (sorry, this was written right before the final explanation)

The craters from the Titan explosion and when the 6-barreled laser went off should be like molten glass, the heat has turned the sand into glass, which also helps explain why there wasn't that much sand accumulated there.

Definitely put a lot of thought into the detail of any significant titan battle damage, whether its the metal turning to liquid from an energy weapon, metal being torn away by projectile weapons, and a Hull being fragmented by an explosion that came from within. Play out the scenario as if the titans were starting the fight, which titan killed what with what weapons, how, where, the type of blast etc. Titans aren't easy to kill, so whatever that did take them down, needs to be something significant

If this table is for a tournament feature table, is it being designed with a particular mission in mind? Tournament terrain layouts are generally pretty specific to the mission.

Best part about wrecks on tables? Any “scrap” cut off bonus parts can be set into, & under, the dirt. Eluding to other things buried under the dirt & sand.

I'm just blown away that you guys and Squidmar are doing massive builds right now with similar concepts. I dream of being at your level, while I currently custom build my own Drukhari Kabal and figure out how to paint it with my own self taught skill... I feel like such a newb when I see what you accomplish.

Next to a small cliff, a tiny, smooth obsidian lake is shielded from the sand. In the middle of the lake a single remnent of a once great titan, a single hand doing a thumbs up. A reminder to a brave pilot, that even at death door, was trying to encougage his compenion. In another place an archeological dig might have found a broken, now half buried titan weapon.

For the reaver with the hole in it, maybe have the missile pod and upper struts sinking into the opening? The loss of structural integrity would cause the uppermost support fairings/beams to buckle or collapse under the weight of the pod, since they're not meant to hold the whole thing up on their own

You could use some scraps of the Titans as tactical high points, like a part of the shell the wind hs coverd with sand from one side so troops can climbit or take cover behind it. Another idea is that you could make remnants of a little camp like if someone got lost or of a lone survivor who fitted a camp out of some scrap like wit a part of shoulder armor as a roof and a missile casing as an improvised pot over a fire place in the hope to survive the night.

hell yeah, mechanicum is my favourite warhammer book, cant wait to see this come together

So cool!! As an Australian mini painter and collector this is great, sadly however I can't go as I live in northern NSW, tho watching it go down will be great!

I'd say cut a reaver in half vertically from the side so you can have "two" and have one side just barely buried so you can kinda see the detail on like the chest and whatnot and use the otherside facedown in the dirt

Making a Titan head building with multiple entries/exits would be fun for game play, and could be the heavily destroyed head of a god machine

Squidmar is doing a diorama with warlord titans at the moment. Very fitting you’ll both be at at Arc together.

You guys should add a bunch of 40k nights as well as having a scaffolding around some of the titans like the mechanicus have built around them.

I'd like to see a stomped warhound under one the warlords feet.

On the protective edges instead of it being plain maybe add mechanicum script as being the top table it will add a great look to it.

I think having one of the titans amidst the ruins of some giant building, like it falling over destroyed this structure utterly.

It might be cool to have a monument with a role of honour somewhere on the board, maybe in the shrine around the warlord

Have one belly down, arms up and the Terrain absolutely torn around the weapons like it just kept blasting lying down

Mars and lava. . I think it is time for some resin dyed red as a lava river!! Also an attempt by the Mechanicist to build a bio dome out of Titanparts would be cool, like a snow globe type thing in the middle with vegetation and green in it.

You could have the Warlord Titan's claw clenched around the last Reaver. Like the Reaver was grabbed and with the Warlord's explosion crushed into the rock, still being grabbed by the claw.

I know that I will never get to see this, but one thing I think that would be cool is having small little joke hidden throughout the board, like in the cockpit or in hidden areas

As a follow-up project, it would be good to see what you could do with the leftover resin gates. They're a pretty good shape for concrete barricades, for instance. Whatever the project, it would be nice to see that much resin turned into something cool rather than being discarded as waste.

If its Mars there's gotta be big pipes somewhere I reckon, maybe vary up the terrain some with metal, maybe large mostly buried vents/turbines in the ground of some sort?

Instead of having the Warlord Titan power body just standing there, pose it in the superhero landing position on one knee and having one disconnected arm standing up like a tower next to the legs. That still gives you the upper torso, the head and one arm to use elsewhere. The freestanding arm can have banners and relics adorning the nooks while the lower body's knee could have crushed part of a Reaver Titan underneath it as that battle ended in mutual destruction.

Once you cut out the center of the blasted one, use a heat gut to actually melt it.

Not really an idea more like something to keep in mind: Since it is a board for 40k and not 30k that battle was ten thousand years ago. It definitely should all look very weathered, rusty, partly scavenged and old in general. That's gonna be amazing!

It would be really cool to see the power claw imbedded into another titan, or having that hand holding ripped off titan limbs

A teeny tiny shrine at the foot of the warlord would be so cool. Really sell the scale of the machines

If you don't need to make the table GW compliant. I recommend you take a look at Grimdark Terrain to incorporate some Olympus Mons parts at 350% scale. Those make great pieces to incorporate the outskirts of Magma City into the terrain. It would only be fitting to have at least part of the Magma City on the board as it was the last stand of Legio Tempestus on Mars.

If u have enough time, I would test it with the tiny adeptus titanicus titans on a smaller scale. But if you are pressed for time just build it full scale and hope it turns out well.

Idea to mine: Void shield generator that still operational. Given that titans have segmented coverage, in onion shape, it can be place on table as clear plastic wall in heater shield shape.
