My Mark 3 Supra is no stranger to electrical problems. over the past year I noticed that my window switch was not disengaging and sending constant power to my window motor, causing it to overheat and almost catch on fire 🔥

maybe i'm misremembering, but i don't think it's supposed to stay down at all.

Most power motors have a ptc in them which will safeguard an overcurrent situation

switch will signal 'auto down' to a box/module/relay that powers motor, follow the wires then change/repair box. rare occasions its built into the motor mechanism so means swapping it all.

Its normal operation

during normal operation the switch disengages when the windows reaches the bottom, mine does not.

@PoorManMods So here’s the deal. Toyota just put a small tab just underneath the ‘up’ position of the control knob. All we have to do is get rid of that tab and we will have full functioning auto for both up and down directions.
