It's exactly like you said, on the surface, this has a lot of cliches of old shonen but it implements in a way that it feels fresh. Plus the world, characters and top animation and action scenes keep you engage. I really like the tone of this show, it feels much more gritty and darker than any other mainstream shonen of this type. But it also has it's funny moments that I really like as well. Plus our main protagonist and supporting characters are all smart, level headed and likeable (at least so far). Yuji has a good moral compass but he isn't idealistic to the point of being stupid and as the story moves forward his moral compass is always been challenged by other characters or situations he finds himself in. All 11 episodes so far have been awesome. I can't wait to see what comes next. 😀🙌
