For today we will discuss another episode about Udaloy II class of anti-submarine destroyers from Soviet Union.
The Udaloy class, Russian designations Project 1155 Fregat and Project 11551 Fregat-M, are anti-submarine destroyers were built for the Russian Navy between 1980 and 1999. As of 2010, eight destroyers were in service. Two vessels Project 1155 Fregat I (Udaloy I) and Project 1155.1 Fregat II (Udaloy II) were designed by Russian state-owned company Severnoye Design Bureau. They complement the Sovremennyy-class destroyers in anti-aircraft and anti-surface warfare operations. The codename Udaloy comes from an archaic Russian adjective, meaning daring or bold.
The Udaloy II is a modified version of Udaloy I. Twelve Udaloy I and one Udaloy II-class vessels were built at Severnaya Verf and Yantar Shipyards. The Udaloy I-class ships were commissioned between 1980 and 1991 while the first ship in the Udaloy II class, Admiral Chabanenko (BPK 650), was commissioned in 1999. The second, Admiral Basisty, was scrapped during construction. The Udaloy II Class is designed to balance the anti-submarine and anti-ship capabilities. Only eight Udaloys are in service today, but they still give Russia a capable anti-submarine platform.

At 3:07 that is the Marshal Shaposhnikov which was returned post refit. It looks different from other udaloys in which its second 100mm AK-190 gun was removed and replaced with modular 16 VLS cells for oniks antiship and kalibr cruise missile. Its large SS-N-14 anti submarine/anti ship missiles was replaced by smaller Kh-35. The remaining udaloys would be retrofitted and upgraded based on that giving them better land strike ability

Yes, the Soviet Navy put some "sexy" stuff in the water. My personal favorite is the Victor III nuclear-attack submarines. That towed array pod on the stern fin was crazy genius and wicked cool. The exquisite Sierras and the stunning Akulas would adopt it, but my heart is still with the Victor III.

i dont like the russian designs in planes. i mean outside looks good but practical part: the cannopee (Cockpit) dunno name. is almost in every plane a hard back. so you cant look behind u. wich is an disadvantage, hence the need to put more into 3d trustvectoring then western planes. stealth in su57 only frontal not sides, wich means it has to be lkucky to be flying frontal towards enemy. and in cas eof f35 f22 it wil not know where they are and cant track em as ez as they can track him. even with ground radars and radar planes. they are great at shows empty no weapons etc. but for example yust recent 20-20 alot of planes in russia are being equiped withg radars etc that even the EU and america had for atleast 10-20+ years. i mean look in syria where they had to use american mafde gps systems to drop vbombs becouse theirs didnt work., you should always think yourt opponant is way better then u are so you improve even more skill. and even witrh f35 and f22 already with so many upgrtades while the su57 is stil in early acces and only 8 are made and 4 active for duty., so lo oking cool vs tech is going to be diffrent. also a10 IMO stays coolest design. even tho it has no radars etc amnd is oldscool.

The russians designed their own marine engines and power plants since 2014 as stated my Mr. Shoigu. UEC or united engine corporation has undertook the work. Its called the import substitution program. You might want to do some fact checking before broadcasting. In the old days under the soviet union the work was spread out throughout the different states to employ lesser regions with work, as was the case in ukraine. Since the collapse of relations with ukraine and sanctions from the united states and the european union they decided to go forward with marine engine building from scratch within russia proper since then.

Of course they are advanced. people who think Russia uses old stuff is dumb. Russia modernized his whole army. Thats why it is smaller, but more mobile and advanced. The army of Russia is focussed on defense and not offensive. That's why Russia has the most tanks of the world.. Thats one sign the red army is build on defense.. The US army is build on offensive thats why they have more aircraft carriers..

The US focuses on Naval strength because 95% military invasions would come via the sea. The RF focuses on Army strength because 95% military invasions would come via land. Also your argument falls apart when Russian tanks are designed for offense, it's why they have less armor and move faster. They are designed to overrun enemy positions as fast as possible to support an infantry surge. US tanks are slower, more heavily armored and hit harder. Both nations still inherent their military doctrines from the cold war. Russia feared a US naval invasion so they focused submarines because 1 sub was a threat to multiple surface ships. The US feared a land invasion of europe so they focused on Tanks which could take as big a beating as possible.

Indian destroyers have a shortage of VLS tubes when compared to destroyers of other countries of similar displacement. This suggests inefficient ship design. The Udaloy class of Destroyer is a very capable ship, it's real downfall is numbers. If the Russians had as many Udaloys as the US Navy has Burke class ships then NATO would be in real trouble, but they don't and they won't...so while the Udaloy is a very capable ship they would be quickly hunted down in a real shooting war by the vastly superior numbers of NATO ships.

As expected, many people in the comments are unaware of Soviet naval doctrine. Geographically, Russia has extremely limited access to both the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. The Soviets knew it, accepted it, and effectively designed their navy around it. As opposed to power-projection like the US Navy, the Soviets geared their navy toward defending waters around the coast. That's not a blue-water strategy, nor is it a weak one; it's just more defensive.

Ces destroyers ont le même problème que le Moskwa : une dca d il y a 40 ans, incapable d intercepter un exocet ou un harpoon. Avec deux croiseurs Slava ça fait une dizaine de navires qui doivent être moder nisés ou retirés.

The biggest disadvantage the Russians have is they are just a navy of one. All of their technology upgrades are developed in-house. The NATO countries integrate and share their advance technologies in their new ship design. Commercial western companies are competing to sell their advance equipment to NATO navies. You know how far behind the Russian technology is when they say their brand new sonar system; ”The Zvezda sonar system is considered by its designers to be the equivalent in terms of overall performance of the AN/SQS-53 on US destroyers…”, comparing it to an old US SONAR system and not being better. The US alone has 62 Arleigh Burke Class destroyers and 2 Zumwalt destroyers, plus the rest of the NATO countries with their modern destroyers. The other big disadvantage the Russians have, is they now are without strong allies like NATO on their side. The difference between NATO and the Russians, when NATO conducts large scale war games, they conduct their large scale war games with their allies. When the Russians have large scale war games, they play mostly by themselves or sometimes with the Chinese; it’s good to have friends

Well when you make a video that has a voice over reading a wiki page updated in 2009 you get what you get. Russian tech may not be as flashy nor costly but its still effective. No matter what you compare its the same old story. A Russian boot covers your foot, you can walk in it fight in it and it has rope laces lasts a long time. Great foot wear $20 a pair! A NATO boot has a carbon fiber arch support and an adjustable heel catch with kevlar stitch and ballistic nylon....you can walk in it you can fight in it and it costs $480 a pair........While this is not a factual example it illustrates the point.

.The real point of a large aircraft carrier is to launch the The Northrop Grumman E-2 Hawkeye (Eye in the sky). Its radar our ranges any surface ship. Its radar disk is much too large to put on and helicopter or vertical lift jet. The US will alway see the other side first . Even non-catapult carries can not launch them from a ramp deck. A Russia ship will be detected hours before it detects a carrier group.
