The entry-level SR’s powertrain will generate up to 228 horsepower and 243 lb.-ft. of torque all of
this while getting up to a manufacturer 26 MPG(Hwy). Enthusiasts will be pleased to know that a sixspeed intelligent manual transmission (iMT) with rev matching and stall avoidance technology is also
available. The manual transmission models produce 270 horsepower and 310 lb.-ft. of torque.
Additionally, a clutch start cancel feature has been incorporated, allowing the truck to start while in gear
for use on steep grades or technical trail sections

It does--bc it's borderline full sized. I'm shocked how big my 3rd gen look next to my first gen. I parked next to an old tundra from the 2000s and my 3g is about the same size! If you don't absolutely need a truck, get another vehicle and rent a trailer now and then.

You can't get a manual SR5, so 5k jump to sport or off-road, if you want a manual. Toyota only had to certify one configuration of manual, 4x4, crew, 5ft bed, so no 6ft bed , either.

@@ThirdBrainLivesYou get a totally adequate Toyota work truck in Thailand and other Asian markets for around 13k. This is just expensive because of all the mandatory safety tech and all the expensive testing required in the U.S.....which shouldn't be. Vehicles that don't come with the requirements should just have disclaimers and warnings. They put toxic chemicals in our water and food which are way more likely to end our lives than an accident.

I'm always capable of being misinformed, uninformed or wrong but, I've heard the SR with 6MT is only offered with the 4dr crew cab and the short bed. Why? Was glad to hear the 6MT was back as a option on the SR trim. That is until I found out it isn't available with the access cab 6' bed. Eventhough I prefer a manual transmission, a bed shorter than 6' is of little to no use for my needs. And that handle to the passenger side of the gear shifter, what is it for? The Frontier has grab handles on both sides of the shifter. What are they for? Thanks for the rare segment on a base trim. Almost no one covers the entry level Tacoma.

I've heard other "automotive press" say that the base with downgraded engine also has other driveline components downgraded, like the axle, so the SR towing capacity is 3500 instead of 6000 to 6500. I have not been able to find the towing rating on the SR with manual trans (which is a double cab with higher output engine). Vehicle sits too high for normal height female to get into without issues. This started in 2016 on Tacoma, even the RWD models. Much tougher to load items in the rear, especially a dirt bike, etc. When market trends cause loss of sales to specific groups, manufactures need to look hard at their designs.

Nothing personal, you make awesome content! I just think the price for this equipment is criminal. The lack of any modern features is not cool, throwback, old school...it's insanity for the price. The lack of access doors is asinine. Every manufacturer added them for a reason 25 years ago...The lack of seats is beyond comprehension. So is the lack of manual transmission in this config. I like leaf springs, I honestly don't like how coils feel in any situation beyond rock crawling. I wanted to like the SR trim but the packaging and price is just absurd. To get 4wd you're looking at nearly 40gs, with steel wheels. Idk I think Toyota missed the mark here especially on the Xtra cab config. There's no situation where a lack of doors and seats improves anything.
