_____________________________________
Pink Floyd are an English rock band formed in London in 1965. Gaining an early following as one of the first British psychedelic groups, they were distinguished by their extended compositions, sonic experiments, philosophical lyrics and elaborate live shows. They became a leading band of the progressive rock genre, cited by some as the greatest progressive rock band of all time.
Pink Floyd were founded in 1965 by Syd Barrett (guitar, lead vocals), Nick Mason (drums), Roger Waters (bass guitar, vocals) and Richard Wright (keyboards, vocals). Under Barrett's leadership, they released two hit singles, "Arnold Layne" and "See Emily Play", and the successful debut album The Piper at the Gates of Dawn (1967). The guitarist and vocalist David Gilmour joined in December 1967; Barrett left in April 1968 due to deteriorating mental health. Waters became the primary lyricist and thematic leader, devising the concepts behind Pink Floyd's most successful albums, The Dark Side of the Moon (1973), Wish You Were Here (1975), Animals (1977) and The Wall (1979). The musical film based on The Wall, Pink Floyd - The Wall (1982), won two BAFTA Awards. Pink Floyd also composed several film scores.

There are many great guitarists but there is something about David that no one else has. His solos make me cry every time, I have goosebumps all over my body and my mind floats through the universe.

Check out 'David Gilmour & Richard Wright - Breakthrough'. It's a semi-acoustic live performance of one of Richard's songs, and it's absolutely gorgeous. It will show you a side of Pink Floyd that you haven't seen yet.

Check out "Wearing the Inside Out" from the Division Bell (both the album version and the one from Remember That Night). Rick Wright sings lead, and the lyrics are brilliant.

I only realized a few days ago that they demolished Earls Court, was looking at photos of the inside before they torn it down, and even though I never had a chance to go there, I felt nostalgic just looking at the interior shots

About crying to a Pink Floyd song... I've seen quite a few reactors do that on their first listen. (Yes, most are female, but *not* all.) And... it's even contagious -- if the reactor cries, I start to tear up a bit. 🙂

You will Love 'THE BLUE' by David Gilmour (from one of his Solo Albums, not with Pink Floyd). Please hear the STUDIO version, its (off Davids Album 'On an Island'). Coming Back to Life, and THE BLUE, are my 2 fave Gtr Solos by Gilmour. Before These albums landed, my fave PF albums were the 70s era... Animals, Wish, Meddle, and Dark Side. But once Division Bell released it took my top PF spot, alongside Animals. Again, if you are moved that much by 'Coming back to life' Solos, then 'THE BLUE' is your next one to hear. Remember its by DavidGilmour, NOT PinkFloyd. Both those tracks are highly underated. In The Blue, he uses a Pitch Shifter, which takes the the notes higher than the fretboard can go, and bends them up into the 'Strat'osphere!

I love this song, but for some reason the cowbell with the percussion has always felt off to me. I know not everyone agrees with me on that and it's okay, but I personally would enjoy the song more without that. But that first half of the song and the solo, and the lyrics, are gold.
