What the Quad Cortex calls presets is misleading! To me, a preset is a singular sound or tone, so for each tone you need, you would need another preset. Following that train of thought, I proceeded to program my QC with a new preset for each tone and was super disappointed by the gap in audio when changing presets as well as the clunky nature of scrolling back and forth between presets. Then I realized I was doing it completely wrong! In the Quad Cortex, presets are meant to be complete pedalboard and amp rigs. Scenes are the individual presets. In a moment, everything changed and I went on to dial in some fantastic Quad Cortex presets that rival my pedalboard and amp rig.
In this video, I'm peeling back the curtain on how I'm able to create powerful, versatile, and fantastic sounding Quad Cortex presets. But note- these principals and tips will apply to any modeler or pedalboard rig you use! We will cover my philosophy on guitar compression, overdrive phases and gain staging, modulation, delay, reverb and of course, whether to put amps before or after your time based FX. I'll also take you through the process of what to look for when dialing in the perfect set of stereo amps in the Quad Cortex; and how match EQing the amps in the Quad Cortex with your tube amp can be a game changer.
Next, we'll take a deep dive into the process of getting Neural Captures of your tube amp and pedals that sound how you want them to. I'll share my top tips I learned for getting a great DI neural capture of your favorite amp, and how to approach neural captures of your drives to get them to respond and sound like they do in your go-to pedalboard rig. Wave good-bye to your pedalboard... I kid. But in actuality, the results I got with my Quad Cortex are phenomenal.
