I do love how compact and small slip joints tend to be. The only one I own is a Spyderco UKPK and it just disappears. I love the looks of this one you got here though

It’s easy to forget how much work goes into making a top-tier factory knife. I’m an engineering/manufacturing nerd, so it’s really frustrating for me to see people say things like “I can get a slip joint with titanium and S90V for $100 less!” as if those are the only things that determine price and quality. Jack Wolf is a great example of that dynamic. At the end of the day, sometimes you really do get what you pay for.

This is a super sick knife. I just recently picked up the Feelgood Jack and I absolutely freaking adore it ! I love the modern traditional take on the old doctor’s knife. Definitely a grail of mine. Ever heard the theory the pocket clip was created by knife makers so people lose their knives more frequently. I also like pocket clips but I will say having a secondary slip in my pocket has saved me time in the real world. This is even more so with a small multi-tool.

great breakdown. ben has some great knives
@poncho151
@poncho151 6 ай бұрын
I know Ben will likely never do it which I respect but I wish he’d offer some without all the packaging at a lower price, even if it was only a couple versions. He could call it the Jim Wolf line haha. I guess I’ve just always assumed that there’s probably a quite significant markup on them as a whole compared to the cost of the knife alone. Especially when you see the cost of other knives in this same respective category, which likely share some or all of the same oem work. To be fair Ben though was the first to push and maybe even teach the oem’s to make a modern traditional using an actual blade kick instead of a stop pin, which adds to the production costs. Also I’m with you in picking GEC if I had to pick only one slipjoint brand to carry, they just offer a uniqueness and intrinsic value that I don’t think you’ll ever get from an overseas oem.
@doodysdaggers
@doodysdaggers 6 ай бұрын
Yeah I doubt it but I’d be down for that too! All the packaging and stuff definitely adds to the experience, but if it were up to me I’d take the knife in a plain box at a lower cost.

Howdy, I’m ancient and have physical challenges to both hands from injuries in the service. No sob story PLEASE. I just need extreme slicing ability these days, thinness behind the edge and the ability to not have to sharpen. My great grandchildren may have to sharpen at some point but for my uses today, light cutting tasks….paper,light material,trying to slice a hair for fun:)….what jack wolf blade would you recommend???Thank you from a knife ahololic of many many knives, a lot with supersteels and very sharp and slim blades. I’m just so curious over these Jack Wolf knives I want to try one, a superslicer, before my maker comes to get me.:)Thank you young man.

I’ve been battling with myself to try jack wolf, but something about a traditional style knife being made in China is a huge turnoff to me. I don’t feel this way with other knives, but for some reason my mind is set on wanting my slip joints made in the USA. If they could find a way to do them here I would attempt to grab one no hesitation.

@doodysdaggers
@doodysdaggers 6 ай бұрын
Both are pretty good! Both steels are very stainless, so that’s covered. It might come down to if you prefer a framelock or crossbar lock. I’d probably pick the Drop Bear personally
@TMDtwista
@TMDtwista 6 ай бұрын
Ok, I keep hearing s90v is just a better steel for edge retention and takes a better edge, do u agree or is that bullshit? I honestly haven't ever heard of the lc200n, honestly I was thinking of getting the artic Strom version bear in elmax although it's more expensive, I'm just looking for the best over all value lol! Thanks for answering my questions and helping me dood! I really respect all ur insight and opinions 👏 💯
@doodysdaggers

@@TMDtwista yeah if you’re after edge retention, S90V all the way. It is way way better than lc200n. But as far as the knife itself goes, I liked the Drop Bear better.

I feel the same way about revolvers over semi auto handguns!!!! Less moving parts!
@roady7420
@roady7420 6 ай бұрын
If your prefer revolvers I get it: gun will do if you will do. The less moving parts argument is terrible logic. It comes from the gun store bar of tears(flawed logic of a salesperson)when gun shops couldn’t move revolvers. There is a reason autos out sell them and the main reason one is training time. The world militaries figured this out in ww1 and cops figured it out in 70’s and 80’s. My thoughts if I am half as good with a revolver as Jerry Miklick or bob Munson(rip) then I would carry one but I am not and the cost to get that good is 10x as much as with autos. I still shoot them for nostalgia and hunting(autos not legal for hunting in my state).
