Some situations that could be life threatening can be easily treated with simple antibiotics. The key is having access to these antibiotics when they are needed. As long as you are in close proximity to medical care and a pharmacy, these things are usually available. However, those of us who regularly venture off the beaten path, or those concerned about supply line shortages and other current events may find the services offered by Jase Medical has a perfect solution to acquire and have on hand these medications when they are needed. The antibiotics are prescribed by a licensed physician and filled in a US pharmacy and shipped to your door in the Jase Medical "Jase Case" after an easy online consultation. Click the link above if you are interested to learn more about Jase Medical and this opportunity to have life saving emergency medicine on hand when you need it.

Just a suggestion from an old ER nurse- If at all possible, move out of your wilderness of choice into some kind of civilization before starting antibiotics. An allergic reaction while out in the boonies can make a bad day worse.

I agree, I would only use this kit if I wasn't able to get back to my doctor first. I wouldn't take these meds unless I had no other option. I have personally taken each of these particular antibiotics for one reason or another so I am familiar with each but I know your body's reaction can always change. Again, I think this kit would be a last resort in a scenario I hope I am never in. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

Even more critical than antibiotics is a strong pain medication. At the last Wilderness Medical Conference, it was stated, by one of the more famous wilderness medical doctors.... you may not be able to solve every medical issue that occurs in the field, however you should be able to manage pain. A torn ACL for example, is extremely painful. A good pain medication may just allow you the ability to walk out with that kind of injury. Other extremely painful injuries need pain meds to take the edge off. Pain is immediate, where as antibiotics can usually wait for you to get back while shortening your trip. For decent pain meds, you certainly need a good relationship with a doctor that understands back country travel.

That would be a good thing to have for sure but quite difficult to get legally. In today's climate, doctors are VERY reluctant to prescribe RX pain meds due to misuse/abuse. 800 mg of Ibuprofin, 1000 mg of Tylenol (Acetaminophen) and a dose of Benedryl (diphenhydramine) has been used as a substitute and allowed for rest when pain is high. I am not a doctor but just sharing a simple OTC solution that has worked in the absence of other better alternatives. Thanks for tuning in and sharing!

@@blackhatbushcraft I never understood the reason for doctors prescribing mega doses of Tylenol or Ibuprofen. Just buy the normal or extra strength OTC ones and up the dosage to match the prescription! Helluva lot cheaper! I keep bottles of generic Benadryl in my camping packs. I get weird allergic reactions from time to time and I don't want to have one pop up in the wilds.

Thank you... I've often thought about meds to have "Just in Case" a person desperately needs them. Glad you addressed expiration dates, and which type would tend to keep their potencies longer... Good knowledge and understanding. You're the first KZfaq outdoorsman I have come across to breach the topic of antibiotics. Thank you!!

Hi Corey, Absolutely better to have it on hand and not need it than to be in a pinch without it. As for the BHBB, yes indeed! It is about 2 to 3 weeks out according to William. I am excited! It will be at Ridgerunner Blades in NC. If you reach out to them now, you can request special handle material as they are currently in heat treat. There will be some beautiful knives but if you want custom scales and or liners of a certain color, now is the time to reach out. Ask for Jason at Ridgerunner. If you get one, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! Take care and thanks for your interest!

Thank you Todd! I hope you are doing well brother. I do like it. It is well made and you can strap stuff on top or below so it adds some flexibility. It isn't a large pack really though. I have been looking for something like this, especially if you get rocky mountain spotted fever or lymes disease you would wish you had this kit. Poison ivy is another one for me. I was going to talk to my regular doctor about doing this too. I will have to check them out.

When you do your consultation before anything being prescribed, they will address all of that. They will prescribe meds based on your individual medical needs/history/allergies, etc. In your case, they may prescribe something in place of a med that you cannot take.
@kellydiver
@kellydiver 2 жыл бұрын
I’m not a big fan of people prescribing antibiotics for themselves. First, an allergic reaction in the field could cause big problems or even death. Second, fluoroquinolones - a class of antibiotics that includes the popular drug Cipro - carries a serious risk of tendon rupture, which would also be bad news in the field. Carrying a satellite device like a Garmin InReach for emergency evacuation or for consultation with medical professionals is a safer option for most people, IMHO. The need for antibiotics can be assessed once the person is out of immediate danger.
@blackhatbushcraft
@blackhatbushcraft 2 жыл бұрын
I totally get that. I have personally taken each of these meds previously for one reason or another so I am quite familiar with them. I also would say, I am not keeping these so that if something comes up I will take them first thing. I would go to my doctor and be diagnosed and prescribed meds if at all possible. This is for those times when the meds are critically needed and you are not able to get to the doctor. In the world we live in, those scenarios wouldn't be too difficult to imagine. I would again personally always opt to see my physician first if at all possible. That Garmin unit wouldn't be a bad investment either I agree :)
@standingbear998
@standingbear998 2 жыл бұрын
people should know their allergies and not take the ones that are unknown to them doesn't mean they can' have and take any. what happens if you don't take them? Not meant for people to be just willy nillie about taking them. Thats why you have to fill out the form about your medical history. I really doubt any of these come with fluoroquinolones????????? too specific
@kellydiver
@kellydiver 2 жыл бұрын
@@standingbear998 Cipro is a fluoroquinolone and is the most commonly used wide-spectrum antibiotic. And no, people don’t always know their allergies. I’ll just carry an emergency comms device, get out of the situation, and see a doctor. I really can’t think of many antibiotic “emergencies” (unless you have leukemia or something). People tend to overuse antibiotics and/or use them incorrectly anyway. But as always, talk to your doctor first, and you do you.

My better half said the same John :) I say better to have and not need than to need and not have. God forbid a scenario ever arise that you need this but if it ever did, you would be the wisest man she knows 🙂 I wouldn't use these meds lightly, only if I couldn't get to medical care but in that scenario, this could literally save a life. Blame it on me buddy!
