If you love the beauty of snow covered woods and the sound of a warm crackling fire this one is for you. Come along for some fire making and the sight and sounds of bacon and onions cooking on the fire in a well seasoned carbon skillet. For me, a little bushcraft, bacon and snow always make for an enjoyable day in the woods. We will also have a sneak peek at the new WC Knives Black Hat knife.

Thanks Matt. Loved the video. You have a way of reminding me of: When I used to go to the woods. When I used to camp in the woods. When I used to cook in the woods. When I used to eat in the woods. OMG, WHEN did my life end?!

You just made me both happy and sad! I am happy because I appreciate your kind words but I am sad knowing you are not getting enough time in the woods! We need to figure out how to rectify this problem immediately. You need to smell the sweet smoke of a good hardwood fire and hear the sound of the birds above in the trees. That soothing crackle of the fire as it heats your kettle of coffee and the sizzle of the skillet loaded down with your favorite camp meal, these things are essentials.. You NEED these in your life. 1/25/2022 seems like a good day to take the day off for personal reasons...You need to help a friend named who is really struggling right now.......knowing that your aren't spending enough time in the woods. Sounds legit to me!

Great demonstration of bush crafting skills Matt ! Proper hand ax usage, use of a twin tree to process firewood, the right way to get dry wood under cold wet conditions and possum mentality. I especially like that you save the knife blade till it's needed, and you covered your raw food while you prepped it. Wood ash, bird droppings and bugs are not good eats. Thanks for the vid, may you and yours be blessed this year. A little pray of thanks is always helpful.

I have 3 knives I use in the woods these days. I have a small one on my belt, a bigger one on my belt and a big knife which is my chopper. That one I carry in my hand for the backyard camp or if I take it on a long trip, I just have a belt over my shoulder to strap it to. My small knife is the Morakniv Companion. My 7" blade for my belt is a Schrade SCHF37. And my big one (10" blade) is a Schrade SCHF45. I don't usually carry both Schrade knives at the same time. Mostly my big one is for the backyard woods where I have my _at home_ camp. And for a trip I'd take the 7" blade instead of the 10" blade due to weight and carry comfort. It depends how far I'll be walking into the woods... the location. But I always bring my Mora Companion (backyard or deep woods trip).

I am a new subscriber. I have watched your cooking videos on the SRO channel and a few of your videos on your channel. I subscribe to Corporal's Corner, Ranger Fieldcraft and Survival and Dave's channels as well. You all put out good quality information and each of you bring your own twist to the subject matter. I like the bacon and onion combo. Never thought about that. Looking forward to catching up on your channel.

Nice Video, Matt. From the start to cooking, I thought to myself, the classic bushcraft approach. I like it. Thanks for sharing your goals for this year. Yet don't forget your priorities: faith, family, and close friends; everything else will work itself out. I am a subscriber to your channel and the cooking series you host. You're doing good.

Meal? Not yet, but just made another pot of coffee, and that is a good thing. Was the Ruger I glimpsed a BH or SS? The grips sort of threw me, but I did have a larger set like that once upon a time on mid-sized BH. I too am looking forward to more on that Black Hat Bush Blade, it looks very interesting. I'm not going anywhere. I like the 'kinder gentler' bushcraft vibe over here; its sort of more relaxing until it ain't.

Thank you so much John! I really appreciate your kind words. This one was actually a Wrangler but I can see why it looked a bit like the BH as well. I do have both of those and I love them. Ruger makes a very nice Single action to me. They serve their purpose well. Once again, thank you for tuning in and I hope to have some more info on the knife coming very soon. Take care my friend and be safe!
