I live in Idaho in the mountains and live very close to this, however she has inspired me to get a wood cooking stove. I've a wood stove in my kitchen to heat the house with, but not a wood oven. I also never finished my root cellar. I live on an old 1910 homestead with a barn, pasture, timber, and 1910 farm house. I would like a summer kitchen like she has outside where I can put a woodcook stove and do my cooking on it out side with my cellar attached. I grew up on a farm and we had a root cellar. I miss having a root cellar. I also can, but all my canning ends up in my pantry, and I use my wood shed for a root cellar, but unfortunately things freeze out there.

Her cooking is due to years of experience and being taught traditional ways by feel, touch and using her own knowledge and judgement. She doesn't use cups, spoons, or a scale, and i'm sure she has no time to convert things for others, others who panic if they don't have 9 x13 dishes, or exact temperatures given. Can't you just watch and marvel at her skills, surely you must get an idea of the ingredients used or maybe you could buy a book.
