Really cool, Brad. Thank you! I suppose I could see a production unit between $1100 and $1300 that would include a few of the items you mentioned and definitely foldable or attachable bouts stuffed somewhere in the case. It would probably be considerably more building one unit at a time.

I'm an international traveling businessman and daily practitioner of guitar. Every time I go on a long trip the only way I can get to sleep is by imagining I'm playing a guitar instead of counting sheep. This is a god send. He should find a quality manufacturer and start by selling in the duty free. Seems like an odd place to sell an instrument, but I have a hunch it would do surprisingly well and get great global marketing at the same time. Had I seen this at my last stop i would not hesitate to buy this. I'm not sure what it should be priced at, but the convenience is next level. That in itself would add value to this amazing creation. The case is cool, but honestly you can have a soft case to pack in a carry-on suitcase with a small modeler with headphone jack. fkg genius! Also AAFES (Army, Airforce Exchange) in deployed areas over seas wouldn't be able to keep this thing in stock. Bored soldiers would be all over this!

It looks like he used the lever off an old foot air pump to create the extending mechanism. I really like how he used the Strat input jack by turning it inside out, or at least that’s what it looks like. Very creative and practical.

Yes I've seen that guitar somewhere before,(believe it was Derell Braun channel ) but it didn't impress me enough to even remember it's name, the lever in the back stretches the strings back in tune, probably the best travel guitar I've seen, but I'm not even into them, a guitar to me, has to have a neck that doesn't fold and a body big enough to hold,I would have loved that guitar when I was a kid, back in my 007 & man from uncle days ect,but now I seek better tones and playability, not portability. .

Ciari Guitars has gone around at NAMM the last few years and has been featured on a few channels recently. They make a similar guitar design with a neck that folds back using a special mechanism, but their guitars have a full body and headstock. They have several stock models and configs and can make customs design. It’s actually not a ton of money for what it is and the fact that it’s made in Nashville - they start at $1599. Have you seen that brand? Would be interesting to compare the Ciari design to this one.

Two thoughts about this. 1. Not practical. There will be far more problems down the road than _any_ benefit you might get from this product. A total waste of time and money for any player out there. There are far better ideas and designs for a travel guitar. 2. Totally awesome! From an industrial design perspective, this thing is pure art. A total museum piece that belongs in any collection, not just restricted to a musical collection. ...I want two of each.

Hey Brad...hmmm dunno...I vaguely remember seeing something like those guitars in an old Japanese guitar magazine from the late 70's/early 80's. I used to get different Japanese guitar magazines back in the 80's and they were full of guitar advertising from all kinds of shops. It seemed like innovative travel sized instruments and other novelty designs were fairly common . I was always amazed at what the Japanese were producing that we never saw in the West, for the most part. Although that fellow is obviously very talented, imho I don't think there would be much of a market for the folding portable guitar other than as an interesting novelty. Thanks fir the video.Cheers!
@ChristopherCobra

Likely would be a large market in a place like Japan. Personal space (even in the home) is at a premium there. I myself would pick one up depending on the price and quality. Much easier to travel with than a full rig or even acoustic. I have a few Japanese guitars - including a marquis/Polaris HB. They can make quality instruments for certain - and make them reasonably inexpensive. Good video.

I'd pay $800 as it is in the video, but the sky is the limit if it was total state of the build with the neck and body made out out of the same type heavier-than-wood resin that Steinberger uses on their basses and guitars. I'm a huge fan of Steinberger bass guitars. My buddy has the first series and I always avoided playing it until one night I was really under the weather and he swore I could be half asleep and the Steinberger would damn near play itself. It felt so good playing it I forgot about being ill.

Very interesting. The Japanese thinking is: compact, but with extreme attention to detail. Also, they will try things that corporate America mindset would never approve into production. Just take all the unusual electronics designs from Matsushita and Sony in the 1970s. Or consider Olfa paper cutters. It's just a paper cutter, but when you inspect the plastic molding, it's perfect. And they have a cartridge model you can load 5 blades into, it has a back door. Genius.

I asked Bard this question: is yugi shimano known as a guitar builder? Bard's answer: Yes, Yugi Shimano is a well-known guitar builder. He is known for his meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail. His guitars are highly sought-after by musicians around the world. Shimano began building guitars in his early 20s. He was initially self-taught, but he later studied under some of the world's most renowned guitar makers. He opened his own workshop in Japan in the early 1990s, and he quickly gained a reputation for building some of the finest guitars in the world. Shimano's guitars are known for their exceptional tone and playability. He uses only the finest materials and construction methods. He also pays close attention to the individual needs of each customer, and he tailors each guitar to the customer's specific playing style and preferences. Some of the most famous musicians who play Yugi Shimano guitars include Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Sting. Shimano's guitars have also been featured on numerous recordings and in films. Shimano is a true master of his craft. He is a gifted craftsman who builds some of the finest guitars in the world. His guitars are highly prized by musicians around the world for their exceptional tone and playability.

yeah i remember asking Chat GPT about some random song lyrics by Phish. Lyrics that are pretty obscure but definitely available online and well established. its answer was so confusing; it had SOME correct lyrics mixed with random lines from Roundabout by YES. it was really hung up on those YES lyrics, particularly "Mountains come out of the sky and STAND THERE" (which i always found to be somewhat comedic due to their anti climatic nature-like thats all they did?). the answer seemed realistic tho if one didnt know better they would think the lyrics were accurate. when i saw the list of famous players who supposedly play this guys guitars, i got similar vibes. if this guy sold guitars to Clapton and the like, i feel like there would be way more information about him and he wouldn't be so hard to find. Bards answer sounds like he was talking about a different luthier just like chat pgt was giving me lyrics to a completely different song. or maybe im wrong and this guy actually put his guitars in some famous hands. but long story short these AIs lie with full confidence and its odd.

I agree. I've gotten some very wacky responses and Bard can tell a lie better than anyone! He's always quick to apologize if you call him out on it but you have to double check for sure. @@kevinr.3542

This might have exploded because of the Aeroband Guitar thing, that has a detachable neck, and so this entered the feeds for being similar, neckwise.

This guy IS a genius! Subbed to his channel. Let us know if you find out any more about this. Thanks.

I've been seeing his ads in my Facebook feed. I just ignored them. Looks cool though. I'm just not in the market for another guitar.

That would be weird if you saw ads for this guy. He doesn't appear to speak English and has no products for sale on his website.

You would make a great ambassador for this project, simply by playing one. Potential buyers need to hear and see it being played. Like you, I think the idea and design is genius but how is it for playability and practical purposes? I do hope that you follow this story up. Exciting times potentially!

This inventor kicks ass, I hope some guitar company will license his idea! Incredible, love it. I would have one.. because of the fact that my silent guitar via Yamaha is now 1099 canadian, I would say it's there, however I would prefer it if there were a Kickstart for like 499.. if not, when I bought my first silent guitar in 2006 it was 699, so that would be a great starting point.. if they sell like hot cakes, ride that inflation tactic and jack-it-up every couple-a'yeerssss😂

Cool! I'm an old guy, and I like my LP and my Strat though. I saw a really cool version of this a month or so ago on another channel. It was a lot more refined, but it is bigger and not as compact. No amp in case either, but pretty cool.

My worry is how comfortable it is to play and hold a proper position. The guy is a genius though.
