About a year ago, I received a request from a family that had just opened a cloud kitchen to serve dishes made to family recipes handed down through generations. Much as their fare - a smorgasbord of meaty regional Karnataka delicacies seemed interesting - we couldn’t explore it further as we rarely ever cover cloud kitchens. Emboldened by the interest from customers, the family eventually set up a small eatery to seat all of 10 in the setback of a building on New Bel Road, North Bengaluru. And this of course, provided me with just the excuse to make the trek to Kutumba Kitchen, meet the family and taste some of the dishes that have earned this small enterprise quite a few fans in a short span of time.

I am lucky during my 2nd stint in Banglore, as My home is close to New Bell Rd & 80 ft road. I had seen this eating place. Will surely my sunday lunch there. Kripala Sir, Do visit 80 ft road in front of M S Ramaiah Hospital. The lane Nxt to Ajfan Dates Store post 6.30pm - yumm Nutritious healthy chaat is serrved by Sanjay Chaat Cart Cornet. Pls Do cover this Cart as his Chaats are enjoyed by many chaat lovers. He has variety of range & healthy variations. If you cover this place , It will be a moment of pride for this simple hatdworking person. I had promised him that , I will recommend his chat cart to Kripala Sir

Sir, she prepares what she cook in house same style adopted. No mass production all fresh. Next time when she grind masala she should add grated coconut & dry copra ( 50 : 50 ) it will be yummy, v learnt from my great grandmother comes from Tumkur district

One of the reasons this channel is good is because Kripal is not just passionate about food, but is extremely knowledgeable about cuisines. Thoroughly enjoyable episode. Pity I stay in a very different area of Bangalore, but hoping I can get an opportunity to visit this very interesting restaurant

Kitchen looks hygienic, as sir said the food looks delicious too but It’s a trend nowadays to say recipes came from generation, learnt from grandmother or great grandmother, even her mother is reluctant to say she taught her, she don’t have clear answer why she started ghee roast in the menu which is mainly Mysore side recipes, badam halwa usually made with almond and ghee ratio 1:1 or ghee little more than almonds, I don’t know how’s she making badam, kova and ghee with 2:2:1 ratio😂😂, why don’t she claim credit for herself as she designed these recipes, no doubt most of us learn recipes from our family, she should definitely say it’s her recipes, she’s an intelligent business woman I must say…….

Greetings from South Africa 🇿🇦. OMG, WOW, WOW. Sir,I have seen many of your food vlogs, and a lot of them are fantastic videos with wonderful and amazing food and people behind those eateries. However, this establishment is on another level. What an absolutely humble family, there are cousins, aunties, mother and everyone else involved in this fine establishment. What makes this for a very interesting recipe for success, that is family support 🙏. Even though the cook learned the recipes from her mother, aunty and perhaps a few other family members, she had taken the initiative to put a slight twist on the authentic recipes. The food looks absolutely delicious. I so wish I was there to try out the meals. I can't wait to visit India one day and stop at this fine establishment. I wish only the best for this humble family and great success on their future plans for this establishment. I hope to visit one day. Kripal ji, per the restaurant timing, opens at 12.30 pm. Today I went to this outlet around 1.40 pm which is peak business hour in any of the small or big hotels. To my surprise the restaurant was empty, no crowd. At the time of placing the order, except 3 items all were not available @1.45pm on Sunday. Some one answered they had cooked 3 times the normal days, the question is within 1and half hour after opening the restaurant how can all the items finishes. When we place the order for dosa and they are given a small quantity of mutton or chicken curry and the cost is too high. They should have given dosa and curry separately and charged them separately. The taste factor was not up to the mark and value proposition no meeting to customer expectations.

Good morning dear Kripal - The title of the Vlog itself is quite interesting. Despite being a small restaurant ( Kutumba ) it looks quite good 👍. I agree it’s all about the food 🍱. Sure Meghana does take the pride in her dishes and this is a wonderful tradition that the Gen X has absorbed and dishing out to the Food lovers 💯💯💯 Wonderful to hear the background story and the family is so sweet and humble 👍 The mutton curry looks delectable 👌 Despite the Food detective is trying to decipher the masala , however Meghana was skilful not to reveal the recipe 😀 That’s a wonderful way to transfer the cooked food from the kitchen to the restaurant 👌👌 Decent menu for the vegetarians as well . I am so happy that they will have a 60 seater restaurant. Now time for some indulgence. Looks like the Chicken 64 requires some acidity to amp up the flavour . The mutton chops got the much desired expression from you ( lean back , shut your eyes follows by mmmm 😋) Kutumba is so confident of the quality of their dishes and that’s the reason they reaches out to you . Great move to use the soup gravy with the the Thatte Idli 👍Il love the Egg ghee roast 😋😋 I agree the secret is all in their masala . Mutton Pulao is yet another winner 🥇. Thoroughly enjoyed this Vlog and so happy that you relished this dishes and provided your candid feedback . Oh wow the Badam Halwa is also a delectable deserted . I tried mushroom biryani ,egg ghee roast ....honestly mushroom biryani was gud but ghee roast was just red chilly paste nothing more ....thy really need to work on ghee roast ...but mushroom biryani is 👌 some times masala is less that time it tastes like normal palov but if masala gets properly it tastes gud

Swiggy is ruining such places. The prices on the Menu is almost half of what swiggy is showing. Anybody else face this issue? Sadly such eateries have to toe the line with food delivery apps.

That’s true. Swiggy prices will too high compared to menu prices. They are looting money like anything. Additionally they charge for delivery, service etc.,. I stopped ordering from Swiggy and Zomato unless it is an emergency or late night

Sir a very old question for u ... as to what makes biryani different from a pulao when pulao also can have meat flavour n all hard spices .....is the raw meat being cooked with rice is difference but then I have seen biryani s too that combine meat n rice afterwords.....

Sir you got the price wrong for the chicken 64. Swiggy shows rs 251 for the dish. I knew it because rs120 was not believable in today's economy.

Rates on delivery apps are always higher, the prices mentioned are what is displayed on the menu at the restaurant and what we paid.

@@rajeshmenon566why not? It’s a free market, you are getting value added services, the restaurant has to pay for the online, the deliver platform has to pay their gig workers, and the cost of convenient luxury is this.

@@rajath275 Because the rich get richer and the poor get poorer, I believe a restaurant should not be able to mark up their prices by more than double just because it's a free world and no one cares about it. There must be strict regulations in place to protect consumers, with consumers always being the top priority.

You don’t want to pay that much/cannot afford to pay that much, move on to something else that fits your wallet and mindset. The person who is putting in the capital, labour and time has the right to ask what they want for their products and services. The consumer is free to decide what they want to pay and choose accordingly. No one is forcing anyone to eat mutton kurma or chicken 65 for survival.

Kripal Sir, we love your vlogs as they are Authentic & yet Stick to the Food Processing Parameters. Some Dishes are with Years long Traditions attached with Family over Generations for Perfection. But today, when we saw Ms. Meghna & her Mother in actual Food Processing Zone without Gloves or Head Cap considering the Hygiene Parameters. Next time, we request you to ensure about these people to strict with Hygiene Parameters. Thanks.

Appreciate that that you love our vlogs, however my videos aren't about "food processing parameters" that you refer to, but about great food that is presented by some wonderful people who put their heart and soul into what they do. You saw, actually didn't see gloves/ hair nets. I saw a very clean kitchen, where the mother and daughter were tending with much attention and care to the food that would be served to customers, like any kitchen in a home. That is all that matters to me, and of course, the taste of the food. Cheers!
