The convoluted case regarding #indranimukherjee has caused much debates for years and as #netflixindia has dropped a documentary regarding the same case, I thought it would be interesting to cover what was covered and what it sets in the minds of the public! I think Netflix has very smartly conned Indrani, who has narcissistic and sociopathic (maybe even psychopathic) tendencies. I think they tried to convince her that this will be a documentary trying to show her in the positive light, whereas they have shown multiple scenes which convey the opposite, e.g. the smirk on being asked if she killed Sheena, the way she looked onto the camera when she first faces it, the way she orders the servant for tea and says thank you, etc. there are lot of scenes which show her narcissistic personality and indirectly show how she could be the actual criminal in this

She and her daughter blames everyone but the mom and the sad thing is they seem to have no love for her first two children. The fiancé showed more concern and love than she ever did. He is the one who insisted on finding out where Sheena was because they loved each other and her disappearance did not seem possible. I really do not care for this mother because you can tell she loves herself more then her children especially the first two. The son is not lying. She had the nerve to blame the husband for all the problems she had caused. No one is talking about that innocent woman’s death. I’m so proud of his son for having more integrity then the parents.

Honestly, this documentary is going to backfire on her big time as now 100% of the people who watch this will be convinced that she is the murderer. Psychopaths tend to make the mistake of believing that they are smarter than everyone else, and Indrani has made that same error. Maybe the documentary makers knew exactly what was going to happen after the release and are quietly congratulating themselves.

I really doubt netflix ever intended whitewashing Indrani's image. Like for almost every statement she put in her defence, they literally showed a more convincing contrary argument 'the very next shot' that would just throw away any credibility she had. Or even showing her lawyers struggling with their defence, I mean they knew they had to record for the documentary, why couldn't they prepare better, or even edit that part out or re-record. I believe netflix knew what they were doing and they tricked Indrani into believing they were making her side of the story to make her speak up (having Indrani defend herself on camera would make the series more appealing afterall).

I kinda agree, no one who watched this documentary would ever feel that indrani is a victim, it always did the opposite thing. But the way some journalists were speaking about the case were insensitive. They did show Rahul's pov a lot and validated that more. Indrani's lawyer being disconnected with her was so obvious, it's like they intentionally recorded that and put it in the documentary.

There was a podcast in which they discussed the potential motive of indrani behind killing sheena, and one of it was that indrani hated the idea of rahul and sheena being together as it would mean that the inheritance that vidhi would be getting would go to sheena as she would be getting married to rahul, and along with that sheena was also entiled to indrani's parents inheritance hence she wanted to kill sheena, her second husband (vidhi's biological father) also joined her as he also wanted vidhi to get all that inheritance.

Very little about the real victim. It was all over the place and the documentary just made things more confusing. The 4th episode seemed to be the only one that had some context and clarity. But otherwise quite a vague and murky depiction. I really felt for Rahul. The sadness and confusion was palpable. You realize how much he must have suffered. He stands his ground and really tried his best. My god it was brutal for him. Indrani's lawyer needs an award for being so confidently delusional. My god this was painful to watch. 😒

I beg to differ, i love how Netflix stitched it up in a manner that we could easily draw comparisons between her current narrative and her recorded conversations with rahul. For an instance, when she said she only met sheena on 7th and never after that then the subsequent scene was a recorded conversation of rahul in which she was clearly saying that she had dropped her off safely in night on 24th april. This is just one reference, there were more. This actually ascertained the fact that she is a pathological liar and a murderer. This also helped us understand how she is out on bail , its all because of her fabricated stories and her lawyer only finding loopholes in the presented evidences despite not having any solid proof that could prove her innocence

I don't think the documentary in any way tried to portray Indrani in a good light, the extended shots of her asking her lawyer to change statements, Netflix showing her supposedly off-camera behaviour prove otherwise. One theory that came to mind after completing the entire series is that probably sheena was murdered as they thought the truth of sheena being Indrani's daughter might affect their rising popularity and they will be able to bury the truth with influence of power. But after 2012 the situation between peter and indrani changed and peter understood that she was with him only for money. So before the bungalow was given to Vidhie he tipped the police about the incident and canceled the property transfer once indrani was arrested. That why indrani was seen saying that marrying peter was her biggest mistake. However, peter never thought police would also question him, and the commissioner won't be able to save him. I think peter was the mastermind behind everything, and that why indrani playing the victim card.

I don't think the documentary tried convincing people about Indrani's innocence in any way. The editing definitely seemed like the crew was rather mocking her attempt at being the alleged victim. They even kept all the fuck ups that her lawyer and she did while filming. The documentary, as it claimed gave the audience no additional information that isn't already in the public domain but did a good job at showing Indrani is delusional and her defence seems to be a joke. Edit: I dont think Netflix tried showcasing her defence as a possible theory. They merely let her talk and showed what her defence in Court has been until today. In fact, it was presented in a way that mocked Indrani and her lawyer.

No matter how hard the documentary and Indrani's lawyer tried to clear her image, it's evident how she has zero affection towards her daughter and her justifications are just TOO convenient, for example the excuse of land surveying she used to explain why she, her driver and ex-husband were at the location at the time. I truly felt for Mikhail Bora and Rahul Mukherjea, the others all seemed suspicious as hell. My opinion is that Netflix produced this documentary to actually question Indrani’s story and never made me feel that Indrani is being glorified in any way. In fact every thing that Indrani says is being disproved through some evidence or the phone recordings. I think Indrani was led to believe that this documentary would help her set a story for herself, but the real objective was to actually make people realise her guilt. The inconsistencies in her defense and factual errors she makes are enough to make any rookie true crime junkie also believe that she’s guilty. The documentary has ended up having the opposite effect and even though there is no explicit admission of guilt on camera (like that of Robert Durst who was accused of murdering his wife and actually confessed to her murder during a documentary shoot when he thought the cameras were not running), I am sure that this documentary has made it amply clear that she’s guilty AF

All this series did was made me realise how cold hearted she really is the way she talks about Mikhail never acknowledges the trauma he has gone through never feeling sorry for him. Like my heart breaks for this boy. He looks broken. Our justice system sucks.

I don't think the documentary wanted to whitewash her image. I think it wanted to expose her in a subtle way. The makers could have chosen to exclude all the "off-the-camera" conversations between her and her lawyers but they didn't. The whole bit about "Lucy" would have been left out too. They wouldn't question Indrani if she was on the trips with her children if it was a simple case whitewashing her image.

That bit ch is out now, she will now enjoy life, recently she wrote a book and published it, gave many interviews claiming to be a victim. Now this woman will lead a comfortable life and plead for mercy due to her age and health conditions

Your review was sharp and accurate. Fully agree! I was skeptical about the netflix documentary but they keep it top-notch and ethical, and we all know who-dun-it! What's shocking is how she could dodge the courts, CBI and the police. Its all out there, including the web of lies this person is knitting!

Dunno about 'enrage'. I found the docu series very intriguing and captivating. Insanely frustrating case, I admit. But really well laid out in the documentary series.

It was funny when her lawyer tells “Siddharth, Sheena’s biological father” and she corrects him and there’s absolute silence for few seconds. That look on his face, “oh what have I done “. It’s hard to imagine what her father had to go through when she concocted the story of he abusing her, un-imaginable.

There were so many offputting expressions and quotes by the people in the documentary that it felt like even fictional characters from a tv series or movie wouldn't act as characaterous. The soul-piercing tarsier eyes and cheeky smiles are constantly thrown at the audience and for what? The thing is it wasn't a story of low stakes it was literally about murder. I am surprised by how poorly Netflix handled this.

Most important questions that rose after watching the documentary on Netflix apart from the many comparably smaller ones. 1. She claims that her father raped her and Sheena was born out of it. Then she left her kids with their grandparents. Who in the right mind would leave their kids with the same person who raped her!😂 2. She was constantly trying to mislead and misguide Peter’s son to refrain him from trying to find Sheena. He was the only person who seemed to be genuinely interested in trying to find Sheena. Why was Indrani averse to it? 3. Sheena was murdered on the 24th. And Indrani admitted to be at the site where Sheena was buried on the 23rd claiming that she was there to inspect a farmland. Do you think this is just a coincidence? Not on any other day of that month or year, but exactly on the 23rd? Not everyone is gullible to think of it as a coincidence. 4. Siddharth Das claims that he is the father of Sheena which Indrani refuses to admit. Why would a man claim someone’s responsibility if he’s not the real father? 5. The driver's confession that Indrani was with him in the car when they killed Sheena. Why would the driver lie? There is no good reason why the driver would lie. The driver was also able to show the exact location where they tried to bury Sheena's body. Can you not see through all of this? 6. Indrani never filed a missing person's report and told the world, including Peter's son that Sheena had moved to the US for higher education. Why? An innocent person would say that they don't know the location(even if they don't try and wish to find her) of the missing person instead of misleading the world. Indrani seems to be a psychopath blinded by the flashy and shiny life of Mumbai and who ate her own daughter in the greed of it. #indranimukherjea #netflixindia

I don’t think the purpose of the series was to whitewash her image. Its a documentary and netflix did a great job at it. They were clever that they conned Indrani into this. Indrani’s personality made way for that con😅
