One of the primary drivers of this is Joel Glazer, with a cast featuring Kronke and Fenway Sports. Trying to turn their clubs into an NFL Franchise. Despite already having a rigged "Champions League" to play in., where you don't need to be a "Champion" to enter. The 3 of them and their fellow "Fantasy Franchisers" are conveniently doing this without fans in the grounds. These individuals are about to find out a few truths from their respective fan bases.
@bazzakrak
@bazzakrak 3 жыл бұрын
You dont have to be champion to enter the champions league now either. If it was the REAL champions league it would only be the winners of the league who competed, not like now, where some league can send their number 2, 3 or 4 to the champions league as well, and some countries champions have to qualify for it. So champions league is just for the wealthy clubs now anyway

I find it interesting that no one realizes that the money won't be there past the first couple of years. There will still be negotiated television deals, just like the current structure. The current leagues money will then go to other teams, the bottom half of the super league will sack coaches, lose players, and eventually other teams will fill the vacuum. You can only be a power if you win consistently and someone has to lose. The best analogy is conference realignment in college football. Look what it did to Miami, Nebraska, etc. Traditional powers benefit from the have nots.

Sounds cool, but the tradition and history that the fans live for, support for, care about ... would be desteoyed. And the teams the dont take part would be abandoned. Ntm the arguments about the teams excluded ... like idk, ppl arguing that Michigan/texas/usc (tottenham/arsenal/ManU) shouldnt be their bc they're no longer the best teams in the world ... this is such a mess, why couldnt they wait till the end of the season 🤦‍♂️ Also thanks Rich for covering this!

I'm surprised he didn't go directly with the better example that we're already witnessing: Power 5 college football. The vast majority of the money CFB makes goes to those five conferences, and the teams within them, and the non-P5 schools are desperate to make their way into the big time, hoping that once they get there, there's no leaving. It won't be long before the SEC, et al break away from the NCAA and create their own governing body, their own recruiting and/or player-payment rules, and leave conferences like the Mountain West or the AAC in the dust. If they break off, they won't even notice a drop in revenue, if there even is any. It will be the smaller programs that feel the biggest pinch, especially if in response, they refused to play any of those schools that left anymore.

The take is fundamentally problematic because it misrepresents a massive part of the issue. These teams are not taking themselves out of their respective national leagues, they will continue to compete in their respective leagues ( So neither Premier League nor La Liga are losing any players) This league is designed to compete (and eventually replace) Champions League which is organized by UEFA. Thus, the real issue is between UEFA and those founder teams' owners. National Federations are only involved via UEFA's pressure.

The European Super league is intended for a non European audience, that is the irony of it. Literally nobody who supports those clubs in their home countries wants anything to do with this. The clubs want the massive broadcast and marketing rights for North America, China and South East Asia, Africa and the Indian Sub Continent where the only clubs people are interested in are the ones that will form the Super League.

After this awful idea has surfaced a couple of days ago, the UK government has decided they will legislate to prevent this from happening to "the beautiful game". I have yet to talk to a friend who would want to watch this. There are 92 privately owned clubs within the FA - and this 6 club break away may sound the death knell to a significant number of these

Created by the poor, stolen by the rich. We will never watch it nor support it. We're happy to continue without these "clubs".

I'm wondering why JP Morgan is giving each team 400mil instead of giving each American a refund for bailing them out of the financial crisis..

it has all been cancelled due to public pressure.... UEFA and FIFA who run the football league and international have taken strong steps such as players for teams in these teams not allowed to play for their nation and clubs disqualified from national league ...for the italian team ...Inter Milan is easier for our USA friends to pronounce...lol....nice coverage

Not considering our #1 GK, best players (Pulisic and McKennie) would be banned.

I hope there are plenty of US fans watching this, particularly the Knicks. These plans were put down by all of the fans around Europe. The English clubs were forced into a very public u-turn and issued public apologies(to their own fans at least). These sporting clubs in Europe and the US belong to the fans and you hold much more power than you realise. Rich assumed this would go ahead because of the finances involved but the people proved him wrong in under 48 hours. If Knicks fans want Dolan out then they have the collective power to remove him, they just need to realise how to use it.

I think England is so pissed about this, the EPL teams may get thrown out of the country. Watch them end up playing over here in the USA
