Thank you for the update. Yes, I, like so many others, am anxious to see progress on the houseboat. For my part, you’ve inspired me to attempt a tiny-houseboat build of my own, so I study every new detail you share of that project. Still, the most compelling aspect of your channel is your continuing personal story, of which the boat and shop reorganization are but small, albeit integral, parts.

It's the "Real World!" As an Ex-Chippie (not a cabinet maker like yourself) but more of a metal fabricator the last few decades, we all suffer the same problems. I also have a love for electronics, 3D printing, mechanical work, Coach building (that was my previous profession) along with many hands on things, so it becomes a "REAL" problem of where to store the tools, materials & still have work areas for all these things that are so different. I've now made an electronic work station in the back of a small garden shed, which is also combined with all my carpentry tools & plumbing gear (yes, I have also been a professional irrigation installer too!) but my ride on lawn mower has to also live in there. The office in doors also houses my 3D Printer & lots of research on absolutely everything. I have another garden shed that stores all the rest of my gardening equipment, fuels, oils & any lubricants etc) & the main workshop has multiple work stations, a storage mezzanine deck up stairs, a lathe, drill press, folders, benders, an English wheel, a vibro shear & many different forms of welding equipment including cutting gear like a plasma, 2 oxy sets (1 for cutting & 1 for fusion welding) steel racks & a chop saw, sheet steel, RHS Steel, stainless, aluminium & some plastics. I have a chassis bench for building car chassis, a project car in side & a good collection of nuts & bolts, hosing, lots of specialist tools, consumables etc etc etc. All in a reasonable small place but what is one to do?? I have a storage area out the back of there main workshop, many shelves of 2nd hand parts, timber, my drop saw bench etc. A dirty area for degreasing & another for painting. I "try" to keep my main work areas clean, but as the work areas change depending on what I'm doing, I'm forced to shift things around. It's honestly a great problem to have, I've been fortunate enough to have worked in many different fields during my working life & that means collecting some awesome tools * skills so I feel this is just a "problem" I am happy to live with now that I am older. I have seen some overly clean workshops, some put out great work, others not so, yet I've also seen the reverse. I honestly feel it's those of us who are forever busy & try to set a high standard, for some reason we feel we are failing ourselves because our workshops become untidy. I see it as a productive place, something which many people could only dream of! (let alone have the creativity or even have a go!) I've seen your work mate, no stress... but I look forward to seeing what answers you come up with! (It's a great problem to have! 👍) Oh! I forgot the 20' shipping container in the front yard with all sorts & a 40' high line container across the highway still with my plasma table, 8' folder & many other tools & parts that I really need but I still can't keep at home...... YET!! You get as much out of life as you put into it & who says it has to be organised, maybe organised chaos is a better term!! 🤣🤣Good luck on your journey!! 👍

I hear you loud and clear. I have four workbenches in my shop (12ft, 8ft, 7ft and 6ft). Most of the time I have to get out my portable workbench when I need space to work on something because my 33ft of fixed bench is full of junk.

Hi Adrian, I’m starting on my second houseboat! I was building one up in Terrace BC, almost had it done, when I got a really good job offer in Penticton that I couldn’t pass up. So we moved to Penticton, stored the boat at a buddies place for the winter, it didn’t get tarped off properly and the whole front deck filled with snow and melted into the cabin! Goodbye boat! The boat were plans I got online for the aqua casa little houseboat. I modified it quite a bit to fit my needs. So now after all that I’m building my second boat, not the aqua casa, this time it’s the Dianne’s rose, I bought plans off Roy Schreyer. I plan on modifying that one as well! I must say your woodworking is fantastic! I’ve been a cabinet maker for almost 40 years and you really don’t see many guys with your skill! Very impressive. So my question to you is: is there a reason you don’t go with a flat roof to utilize the top for a sun deck? With Roy’s plans I bought I am going to change the cabin so I can use the roof for a sun deck. I’m just wondering if I’m missing some other reason for the shape of your roof and also Roy’s roof? Everything will be just as big a mess in a week. Staying organized and keeping your work space clean is either something you do or you don't. You don't just let it get out of control and then do a big spring cleaning and think you're actually going to keep it like that.

After witnessing your solutions to problems that house boat owners face ie: raising bed, shower converting to closet etc. I cannot wait to see your creative solutions to your shop. Warning in advance. I'll probably steal an idea or two. Hurry up my shop is a disaster.

1500ish sqft and I operate in less than 20% of it. Another equal sized space is still waiting on the roof in an attempt to solve the first horror. There are zero drawers and one functional cabinet. The garage hasn't seen a car inside in over a year. This is the new confessional for those of us with inefficient shops, or is that the next video over?

seen worse , looks like if you got your woodstorage under control , you will have 50% more space . but why so much offcuts ? invite friends , make a campfire , have drink XD
