The FX4 has "improved" shocks and skid plates. The "closest" thing to a Raptor is the Tremor. So if one was to rate top to bottom, it would be: Raptor, Tremor, FX4, regular 4x4. Always a pleasure watching y'all work.

This truck is from the before times of the tremor package. So, at the time, the most “off-road capable” f150 short of the raptor. Marginally better suspension/ride height with available options like the rear locker

@masterbates7016

No what is dangerous is pulling on a one foot drop hitch. The hitch broke because of the leverage from the drop. If you know you know. And if you don't know we'll then good luck
@barrishautomotive
@barrishautomotive Жыл бұрын
@@masterbates7016 you can tow with a 1 foot drop hitch. The force applied by a sudden shock load is many times higher than you would have from a winch pull, a kinetic tow, or a trailer tongue. It's the shock load that is the issue. The victim you're referring to met his demise due to a shock load through a chain. The drop hitch leverage was possibly a factor, but that wasn't the main issue.

Matt and Team, just want to say that I love that you let the dogs out and run while you are on these adventures. I have seen you give them water and such, so there is no doubt in my mind that you genuinely love and care for them. I hate that you are made to feel as though you must explain that stuff. Sometimes, people need to just watch and enjoy and 'take for granted' that things are handled properly even though they do not see every step of the process. Much like the 'safety police' with your welding and such.
@eliloomis7860

yea it sucks to have to explain every little detail and i blame this on influencers and bloggers they just have everything in detail wayyy to much and now everyone has that standard of having to explain or show so that people can have that security even when its not their business. example today was a video of this pup that had a spinal deformity and everyone was saying he was being over fed and abused from a 5 second video of him chilling in the backseat of a car....

DOGS need to run - ( not endlessly or for 20 miles non-stop) but in spurts and short blasts... These dogs know their limits and also stay close to the team in their vehicles. Dogs may or may not know when they're dangerously close to collapsing and dying - so it is up to the owners to keep a vigilant eye on them. Peanut, Lady, and Max look forward to these rescues because they know they'll get run, explore and sniff.
@leewillmann8612
@leewillmann8612 Жыл бұрын
@@eliloomis7860 Matt has faced complaints that he is mistreating his dogs at times by letting them run the way he does. My comment is that it is sad that some people believe the dogs are being mistreated because they do not see certain things happening on the videos we get to see on the platform. It is like they forget that there is a process to edit the videos down to a format that the audience will be willing to digest. And how many times do we need to see him water the dogs, or whatever it may be, before we instinctively realize that it is a standard practice and not need to see it on every video. For example, if he showed the same process in each video, people would likely tune it out. I remember that they used to show a full walkaround of the vehicle at each recovery. I presume this was to get footage to document any damage before they touch the vehicle. We don't see that footage on each and every recovery now, but I presume they are still doing it just in case there is some kind of claim. The same goes with the dogs. I presume that the team is taking care of them, because the dogs seem to be very happy and well-adjusted when they go on these adventures with them. Sorry for the long-winded reply, but wanted to clarify what I was driving at earlier.

In addition to some added skid plates, the FX4 comes with "offroad" tires, some "upgraded" shocks, no airdam for better clearance, and newer models have Terrain management (Selectable drive modes for different trans, traction control, and engine profiles) and Trail control (offroad cruise control). In that year model the fx package was mostly appearance. It gave you blacked out headlights and badges and body color trim with little to no chrome. The fx4 was 4wd with rear locker and “upgraded” suspension and the fx2 was of course 2wd and sat slightly lower with a sporty look (well as sporty as a giant f150 can look) and if I’m not mistaken the fx2 came with a different exhaust.

4L with the locker is a decent enough combo for light stuff. My biggest gripe about the current F150s is the lousy turning radius (evident in that left corner you took). My old '91 Bronco with the IFS front end turned on a dime. Great work Matt and the MORR Team!

Suspension type doesn't matter as much as wheelbase.The giant turning radius is because that F150 is about 40 inches longer than your Bronco. This era of F150 has IFS. Your 91 Bronco had Twin Traction Beam front suspension.

If you have 0 reception out there then it might not help, but for my dog I have a collar called the FI 2, and it has a cell phone chip built in which allows me to track my dog's location if she gets lost. We don't always camp in reception areas, but when her collar finds reception it lets us know where she's located. Might be helpful for your pups.

Ford FX4 package. Looked it up. Apparently the FX4 package adds a few things to a "normal" 4x4. These include: Longer/stiffer springs for more ground clearance (but apparently not enough for that trial!) Better shocks Skid plates (good call here!) Limited slip (or locking, found sources that claim one or the other) differential in the rear axle It apparently also includes a hill descent control which modulates the brakes to eliminate slipping. However I think when you turned off traction control it disabled that. Might have helped with the loose rock downhill, but I think it is only active between 2 and 12 mph, and I think you were below that on the really sketchy parts. ;-) That still looks like a challenging trail with it's steepness, side-slopes, and loose rock. Nice job!

On my 2018 FX4, it is: locking rear axle / extra skid plates and the FX4 stickers. Ford literally quotes the stickers as part of the option package. And the locking axle is available without the FX4 package; so in reality 'FX4' is just a couple of fairly light skid plates and those cool stickers...

Pretty sure these are the main differences from FX4 vs regular F150 4wd About a 1 inch lift compared to a typical F150 Comes with AT tires from the factory 3.73 locking rear diff instead of the typical 3.55 A couple skid plates instead of plastic fuel efficiency covers underneath I have the same generation F150 FX4. Maybe it its a competent offroader for a factory stock truck but I'll never know first hand as mine is in the driveway for towing only. I'd prefer a regular 4wd with 355 and regular tires for better fuel economy but reasonably priced used trucks is hard to find so can't be too picky these days.
