Man what you taught me over the years really paid off because I have been using the exact method to memorize texts and definations for 2 whole years now. Thank you Nelson and great work looking forward to more memory tips in 2024

I memorize one poem each month. Day one, I encode the poem onto my memory palace ( I also write out the first letter of each word), then every morning I recite the poem (and sometimes the previous month's poem too.) I find it to be very valuable. These poems enhance my life and I learn something about the poem with each recitation. Also, love the fun camera angles! 😆

Yo Nelson. I am a Rubik's cuber and you could say I specialize in the event called multiblind, where you memorize and solve as many cubes as possible in an hour. I am reading a lot and watching your videos to get a good idea of hoe memory athletes do things. A lot of memory league knowledge isn't so well known in the cubing community. Anyways, there is one thing I really want to find out more about: review-systems for the marathon events in the memory league/ the world championchips. In multi blind the execution rellies on quick recall and it is a part of the hour at your disposal, which is to my knowledge different from 1-hour cards for example. Therefore, I am interested in how much review memoryathletes need using their memorization systems. I am also planning a PAO for solving cubes blind which will have ~550 PAO pairs which only a handfull of people in the world have done. Hope you have some information for my about what the best in the world do, how much variation there is and maybe how long it takes for them to recall it all? Maybe you have a link to a place with more information on this? Thanks. -Rasmus

Honestly there are better resources than him for cubing specific questions. Try speedcubeforums. There’s some great pointers there. I myself solve consistently sub 10 and am fair at bld a lot due to the online help.

Great video! I have a question about re-using or multiplying palaces: in your experience, can you multiply a palace by adding different "atmosphere" to it? For example, once imagining the whole place on fire, once frozen over and covered in snow.

The real challenge seems to me to be scaling this to 100 poems, or 1000 poems. It's easy to memorize one, but you can't re-use your memory palace too many times for multiple, and eventually the images start to go into one another.

I think you should use some other places as memory palaces. I have the same problem bcz I don't really know so many places to use them .
@NelsonDellis
@NelsonDellis 4 ай бұрын
Correct. I would use different memory palaces. Ultimately the goal would be to get the poem hardwired into your procedural memory. Once it's there, you can start to use a memory palace over again with something new.

@@NelsonDellisso I can use the same Memory Palaces over and over again for different subjects? Is it just a case of ‘loading’ in the new sequence over the established stations in your MP. I don’t think I’d have enough real world MPs to cover all the info, also a lot of the places are in other countries I can’t get back to

Hey there Nelson! I focus on solving Rubik’s cubes blindfolded fast, and am exploring multiple cubes blindfolded, and am always one for trying to push limits. How do you think you’d fair in solving multiple cubes blindfolded? And what method of memory would you use, or rather memory system? Obviously memory palaces, but how would you be encoding the sticker locations? Letter pairs forming images? Or something more efficient? I’m on the hunt for a more efficient way of storing the information, instead of 2 bits per image, I want 4 bits, but don’t think letter quads are feasible for cubing. What are your thoughts?

We’re as a Muslim learning by heart Quran, Sunna-prophet’s saying- poems and books so the simple way is repeat and repeat and repeat that’s it. The memories is the traditional way of learning to learn in Islamic schools in the past so we keep doing this but not all of us. Now I’m memorising Quran I repeat each verse 40 times and it pays off.

I was just thinking about this. If the goal is to memorize a religious text, then the palace method may not be appropriate or useful. We know from tradition that the method was to repeat the sabaq, the manzil and something else I am forgetting - so near memory and far memory was constantly refreshed.
