Ironic how many rappers went broke and accused him of being a fake. Suge Knight is now in jail and Ice is still cashing checks. Dude played the long game and is still making bank while the rest of the clown show that hated on him are broke or in jail. Props to this guy.
@robfromvanАй бұрын
They just meant that he was more of a top 40 rapper or a pop rapper like MC Hammer or someone rather than someone that appealed to hip-hop’s core audience, similar to how KRS-One or Eric B. & Rakim would’ve.
@Dev-In-Denver123Ай бұрын
The rest of the clown show are broke or in jail. You named suge knight 😂 of all people who was destined to have one of those happen to him early in life.
@heathwasson7811Ай бұрын
It's his whole background that was fake. I went to the cross town high-school from him in the suburbs up I35 north of Dallas. Lewisville/Carrolton area. My best friend's older brother was in the same class as him. He came from an upper class white-collar background, and just continued moving up. I've done well myself, owning my own 3D Design Firm, so no jealousy or hate here, just a reality check. He didn't come up on the back streets of Miami hustling to make a living as some lone gringo trying to survive in Cuban and Black dominated street gang society. Which is exactly how he was sold to the populace back in the 90s. In fact he was a white kid from a white mid to upper class neighborhood who got popular playing at trendy City Lights in Dallas, not some hip hop joint in Miami. In the end he's just a successful real-estate investor from a well-off stable family background, who's doing even better in today's real-estate market. What's ironic about that?
@darksaga80Ай бұрын
@@heathwasson7811 I meant "fake" as in he wasn't a real hip hop artist. He was outed pretty early on as an upper middle class kid with a good upbringing. It was his background and being white and talking about street life that got him in trouble since rap in the 90s was all about writing about gang life, hustling and drug dealing. His whole hip hop career and image was a complex one to sort out. It's like now black rappers saying Eminem can't be the GOAT because he's white and his songs don't play in clubs - but said Ice was a clown because his music WAS in the clubs and therefore "not real enough" to warrant any praise. Hip hop is full of contradictions.
