When I started the channel I was doing videos outside on a slab lol. This garage is the main reason I bought this new house. I love it. I just wish I could afford to finish it & make it look like a legit automotive enthusiast garage!

He's referring to draining the oil inside the supercharger. It's actually a prices that needs to be done with care. If it isn't done correctly it can damage the supercharger.

My best guess is that when the check valve in the breather hose that connects from your pcv to your intake fails, it allows oil vapors to get sucked in rather than only pulling in clean air to the pcv

@@AudiC7Owners Hey, thanks for the reply. It seems to only really be when the engine is hot. It makes the sound even when just revving the car while stationary. But it doesn’t really make the sound when idle.

I wish I could tell you exactly, but you may have to get it diagnosed by a shop. I can't diagnose it without seeing the car in person.

My iat's definitely went down about 5 degrees. Not a ton, but after I replaced them with new cores, they dropped significantly.

@@AudiC7Owners I questioned 5nm because it seemed to be rather low and barely enough to compress new seals. 9nm seemed to be too much for this pipe though. When I put it together I went with 7nm personally. I pressurized the system before I put everything together and it maintained the pressure. Again, I just wanted to double check.

I was able to fix my original gasket using Q-bond, and the car is back on the road. However, looking back, I don't know if I would do it again. Examining how my gasket failed, it appears it might have been pinched at the factory because it was actually curled where it failed, and me pulling it back after about 7 years was enough to rip it due to how tight it is there.

Yes they can go in either side, but I wouldn't swap them if they've been used on one side already. Keep them on the same side after using them if you have to take them out for whatever reason.

@@AudiC7Owners ive got a cyl 5 misfire and i was watching your valve cover gasket vid and the part with your plugs made me thing to take another look at my old plugs and i also noticed i was down on coolant a bit too with no explained leaks and there was a bit of flaking on plug 5 and 6

@@AudiC7Owners my other guess was a partially clogged injector until i noticed the coolant. Mahle seems to be on back order through most sites for the cores unfortunately though. Im only getting a EPC and its only when im over 40% throttle

Do you still have your catalytic converters? Because I had the same symptoms as you when my catalytic converters started to clog.

That's above my pay grade. Just wish they were more durable/efficient.

I'm inspecting for oil leaks too rule that out, but I believe my breather tube that comes out of the pcv is broken... Rather the check valve on it is. Probably going to open everything back up to replace it and pray it works

I've also read that valve cover gaskets can cause some leaks and go through a good bit of oil

Did you have bad oil consumption while it was bad?

No worries! Here is a fast breakdown: On our engines run on an Air-to-Water cooling system. There are two separate Loops inside of one coolant system. You fill your coolant in through your Reservoir and that fills up the two loops which are connected at a T-junction. One Loop is your engine, heater core, & the engine's radiator. The other loop is your supercharger coolant loop. The parts of that are a coolant pump, a heat exchanger which is located in front of your radiator, and then your supercharger which has two separate intercooler cores located inside of it. The coolant is pushed through the heat exchanger which uses air to flow to cool down the coolant. Then it goes into the supercharger intercooler cores which also uses air coming in through the intake to cool down the coolant even more. All of this is done to reduce the temperature of the air being pushed into your intake manifold. The cooler the air, the better the performance. This air temp is referred to as you're IAT's, or Intake Air Temperatures. Hope that helps

@Audi C7 Owners thank you, so the short is that the supercharger air is run through a water-cooled intercooler system. What kind of Temps can it achieve? It doesn't seem like you could get front mount or top mount intercooler temperatures but this is the first time I've learned about a water-cooled intercooler

It definitely isn't as cool as an Air-to-Air system. The car will retard timing if your IAT's go over 80C/175F and you will lose about 40% of your power. With the right cooling mods you can easily stay under this even with big performance upgrades.
