the guys who did not want to be filmed were in the all known 'smugglers corner'. If you are looking for smuggled cigarettes, alcohol, moonshine and whatever you want - you can find it there ;) thats the reason they did not want to be filmed, but they did not mind if you film yourself only ;)

Was just there today! Great city. I may make another day trip back from Warszawa before heading back home. Today was mostly spent at Majdanek. Beautiful weather today, just a bit windy at times.

In Poland you can film everything including people in public places such as market, but you cannot publish their faces without their permission.

Thank-you for this video. I will be moving to Lublin soon, and though living outside the US is not new to me; the last time was when I lived in Italy in 1984-1985. I lived in both Perugia and Rome for about eight months, and I learned to SPEAK Italian by studying at both The University for Foreigners and Dante Aleghieri. You have given me the FIRST real view of the city that I've every had! Again; thank-you! Btw My name is Teresa Vandal (z domu Dadlez as some of the older generations might say); I AM NOW both 1st generation Polish-American; (my parents came to the US in 1951); AND Polish. I am one of 11 grandchildren of the military officer turned artist, Julian Dadlez who spent his last years in Olsztyn painting. In fact if you take a trip to Olsztyn and visit the city hall; go to what THEY call the first floor hall; the mural in that room was painted by my grandfather.

Lublin is a cool city to hang around, I've been there 3 times and everytime I felt really relaxed. Thare are less tourists and I has this kind of Krakow vibe but without all the noise. You just feel that life is slower there. Also, plenty of great places to eat and it will not ruin your pocket.

This area near the bazaar and the bus station is kinda infamous, there's a lot of people selling smuggled goods there :) And the street nearby (Lubartowska) is the famous place where you can get beaten up at night :) I think nowadays it's not dangerous, but in 90s it was a pretty shady place. When I was studying in Lublin in early 00s and we searched for a flat to rent with friends - some guy from Lubartowska had a place that he wanted to rent for free - we just had to pay the utilities and look out for the flat so nothing gets stolen :)
