Have you gotten a chance to use the Nitrotech 608? I’m trying to decide between the two. I like the fact that the Nitrotech has a continuous counter balance system for more precise balance but at the same time I’ve heard that it doesn’t pan as smooth as the 500 series. What are your thoughts/experiences? Was counterbalancing a problem with the 504x (or not as good as you’d like since it’s more of an estimate with the preset weights)?

Agreed. I have two of these and just bought a used one from B&H for $524 with a set of ultrasonic headphones. DOn't need them so selling to reduce the price further. Highly recommend keeping an eye out for this on sale if you find the MRSP a little tough. It's a solid tripod, excellent for video, and used, you can't go wrong. Most aspects of a tripod are easily fixed if something goes wrong, just know the source and condition before buying.

Pleas help, I have the 502AH head with the carbon 636 legs. I need to upgrade my head but the legs are great, will this head be compatible with those legs?

Hello, I have a quick question, I purchased Thai head 3 months ago from B&H and I have use it in about 4 or 5 shoots, today I set up my tripod and I realize there was a sticky grease on the ring that control the Pan as well on the carrying bag. Is this normal to sometimes leaks or mine head is broken ?

Having grease inside the head is quite normal. AGAIK, it should be a sealed system. I would check with b&h about warranty

And who doesn't like amazing head? Would be interested to see how this feels in use vs the Nitrotech 608 (assuming a rig that falls within the weight limits of both) and whether the four preset load capacity settings are as reliable as the fine tune adjustment on the Nitrotech.

I'm looking for a tripod that allows the legs not to open much, so as to take as little space at ground level as possible, but still capable of being set up fast with the same angle for all three legs, without the need of tilting the head left or right to compensate for different leg angles. At 2:31, the tripod legs are opened equally, all of them at the same distance from the center, right?

Then you lose stability. Maybe get a monopod

Perhaps you can answer a question for me? I'm considering 504x and my question isn't the maximum payload it's the minimum. I've read (and watched) several YT videos claiming in order for the counter-balance to function properly there is a *minimum* weight to the camera/lens. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 4-1/2 lbs. I'm shooting an R5 with the RF 100-500. What happens if you're under the minimum weight for proper balancing?
