In this Slay the Spire gameplay, Baalorlord does an Ascension 20 run with Watcher. First, he gives tips on choosing a path and a starting bonus. Later on, he explains his decision for each card he chooses and why it's important to the build. Towards the end, he gears up for an epic Heart fight you don't want to miss. I use a few mods for Slay the Spire. All of them are Quality-of-Life improvements and do not have any effect on the gameplay. Here are all of the mods I have active:
Slay the Relics Exporter, used for the live stream: steamcommunity...
Relic Stats, to keep track of how many times the relic effects happened: steamcommunity...
UI Sliders, to reposition the Discard and Exhaust piles, so that they are not hidden behind the camera: steamcommunity...

Taking an unusual pick like Perseverance and trying hard to make it good made this Watcher run a blast to watch. Normally Watcher runs feel kinda samey to me, as eruption dominates so much of the early game, but this was a rare treat!

I've watched so many of your runs and you make it look so easy. This run was just crazy good using cards I've struggled to see the point of using. The game is still enjoyably, frustratingly hard for me.

Interesting commentary. I usually always take 1 perseverance. But, I usually end up with a Power/Retain/Divinity Build.

Sweet run, but perseverence could definitely use a buff. 0/1, 1/1, 2/0 or 0/2 though? (or more?). Definitely shows the value of meditate with it though.

Its just too slow and normally watcher kills things super fast so its a wasted card draw

Perseverance, Alpha, Windmill Strike, Deva Form, Simmering Fury, Study, and Collect are all considered fairly weak because of how slow they are compared to the Watcher's better cards. Also Devotion to a lesser extent, at least you can stack the Mantra it gives you with other cards though.

Honestly I was just afraid to use it. I thought that the energy loss increased by 1 with every turn. Luckily I now see I was wrong

I never take any blasphemy in my run and totally forgot what the upgrade actually does, too hestitate to take it.

@@senjo8169 The upgrade is really good, gives it Retain. You can hold onto it until the perfect turn to use it as a finisher.

Am i right on the odds to not draw a vault in the first two turns of spear and shield? 1 - (22!/5!)/(25!/8!) ~ 2.4% chance not to draw one of 3 vaults through 17 cards drawn?

What a totally absurd deck. Wondering something Baalorlord, even though the deck is too strong and probably needs close to nothing, any particular reason of not giving that end act 2 shop lantern relic a thought? Deck is explosive, 1 more energy at round 1 of all combats seems amazing no?

What happens if you play Vault as the 12th card on Time Eater? Does it start a new turn which immediately gets ended by Time Eater?

You get another turn - the Time Eater ends the current turn, then Vault starts a new one.

To add to this, Time Eater does get the extra strength when this happens.

You getting stuff is actually put on your character like a status. It's the same for when Nightmare is suppose to create cards for you on the following turn. So, in this case Vault, once you play it, sets you to get another turn once the current one ends. Time Eater ends it after you play it, then the status of you getting another one triggers.
