I’m actually tired of trying to buy their products. I shouldn’t have to stress.

What drives me crazy about Analogue is that they keep releasing new products without addressing their previously sold out SKUs.

I actually wanted an analogue at one point and ended up just modding my gameboy color instead. Not only was it cheaper to do so but it’s so awesome. I couldn’t be happier with it

They have THE WORST customer service I've ever experienced. Took me more than a year to finally get my pocket. It got lost in shipping along the way, and it took 6 separate emails over the course of months to even get an automated response. Then I had to go to Twitter and their Reddit to get ANY attention, and I finally got an email because of it. Lucky they sent the product again, but it shouldn't have taken a year to get any response.

Damn right. no Comapny would intentionally not make enough of their products, unless they are intentionally controlling the 'resale/scalping market.

Makes you wonder how many of those listings on eBay are actually Analogue themselves?

Most of those consoles were on Ebay even before the pre orders began. I had one in my cart today and after I saw that with tax and shipping I had to pay $70 more I backed out.

It’s actually insane how little they care about the consumer here. i think their products are actually really great but i can’t be asked to pay some scalper double or triple the price to keep acquiring Analogue.

It does really suck trying to get one. It happened to me last time for the Glow one. I clicked the process button and it wasn't letting me. But I got lucky getting one today. I aimed for the least fav color, which was the orange.

My instant question when i saw the post about these new systems was, "Why isn't this just sold as a shell replacement?" And im willing to bet, at some point some other group WILL make shell replacements and sell them for like 10-20 bucks.

I see tons of them for sale double the price on eBay. It is supposed to be limit to 2 per color, but I saw one person selling 4 of the same color. In reality, it should have been 1 per color. Not only that, but I had one in my cart at 8am, as soon as the store opened, and by the time I got to the checkout it was sold out...

Damn right. Analogue has gotten ridiculous. I'm glad I saved myself some sanity and didn't go for these variants. I'm good with my standard black one.

I managed to get a Pocket and I mostly like it, but my gosh you're right. My frustration with them goes back well before the release, when they announced it then went on radio silence. Honestly, the only reason I wanted it was so I can use the dock (not included) to play on a TV. Otherwise I'd just use a modded GBA with a backlit screen. And there's probably a better solution to that. Currently, I have no intention of buying from them again.

I had my alarm set up, added it to the cart, put in my information, and my card wasn't accepted 😢. A few seconds later, after retrying, it was completely sold out. Tried again for a color I didn't want, and it said the same thing. Was super disappointed. Just decided to get the RG405v. We'll see how that goes 🙃.

I bought an Analogue Pocket last Christmas and it’s great, definitely one of if not the best way to play GameBoy games. That being said, the sudden influx of limited edition models seriously makes me question their business model. Like, they can barely keep the normal Pocket in stock, how will limited editions work? Seriously hope they figure these issues out because the Pocket is great and doesn’t deserve to be painfully inconvenient to get.

My biggest issue with them is their shipping charges. It shouldn’t cost close to $50 to ship one of their products in the US. They clearly use this tactic as a way to pretend that their products cost less than they really do. They have done an open pre-order for the analogy pocket but unless you got your order in very quickly you were stuck in the last delivery window that was like a year and a half out. But don’t worry they made sure to take the full price and exorbitant shipping fees up front. I enjoy my Mega SG and Super NT, but I’m probably done buying anything from them until they can find a way to produce enough product to meet demand, deliver in a reasonable amount of time, and be stop raking people over the coals with their shipping charges.

Wife ordered me a white one in November....Of 2022. I still haven't received it. Super pumped to see them pumping these weird variants out instead of delivering the one we ordered nearly a year ago.

I’ve wanted an Analouge Pocket since they were announced. But I’ve never been able to make the window, and I refuse to pay 400 bucks to a scalper. I’m so sick of these limited run products in gaming.

The shipping prices for Analogue are ridiculous. Not to mention if you buy the adapter set for the Analogue Pocket, it has to be a separate order by itself with a ridiculous shipping charge.

Absolutely agree with rgt on this. Analogue makes some fantastic products but their business practice of feeding off the hype and people's fomo just comes off as super pretentious and arrogant. The fact that they also had people waiting for months for their pocket preorders just to go and release multiple ltd ed variants within a few weeks of each other is also crazy to me. Much better off getting an rg35xx or game boy with an ips screen mod instead.

To be honest I do want a Pocket system. It’s mainly to play my physical games either on the go or even use their dock to play it on the TV. Granted it’s more for Game Gear and TurboGrafx 16 games than the GameBoy family thanks to our GameBoy Player. Still I am not interested in limited editions or glow in the dark. I just want the system and the basic black one to me was ideal. I thought I had time to get one until they stopped taking orders for them and putting this FOMO crap on. I am at a crossroads to what I want to do especially since I’m interested in a little more than the Pocket.

I absolutely agree. I wanted the transparent red edition. But I ended up modding my PS Vita! If there is a second batch, I may want to try to net one, but I am not going to struggle bargaining with scalpers.

I hate scalpers with an undying passion. I wanted to get my son a Spider-Man PS5 cover and controller. I got the controller without a problem but the covers all sold out immediately and what up on eBay for four times the amount. I ended up buying him a nearly spot on one from AliExpress.

What if in this world, a company makes a 'limited' product, then they manage to be purchased by customers who just happen to work at said company, and then put them on sale on ebay to double the already over inflated profit of what is probably a 3d printed item.

totally agree I have dealt with Christopher Taber in the past when I bought the neo geo cmvs the guy will say anything and make up rubbish to not take blame for his products. As he was just responding to customers himself when he made the neo geo cmvs. Have to give him the do for making great products. As high end his products are his office is based in Hong Kong so he can probably expedite his designs and prototypes in China. Unfortunately these great products are still MIC = made in China....The guy knows how to make money that's for sure that's why he is artificially creating the demand. Caring about customers and the retro gaming community is the last thing on his mind.

I dont think Ive ever commented on your channel, BUT: Best video you've ever done, IMO. Analogue make a sweet product, but its no secret there business model needs improvement. Im hoping someone else can fill their space and provide a better product and customer experience. The only other devise that is on par with this is the Mister. But, no handheld variant, yet. Emulation is ok, but not on par with FPGA, or real hardware and software. Ive had PI set-ups and have launchbox/bigbox. While theyre cool to have, its not the same as the real deal. Anyways, I wonder what next from Analogue; a sticker book edition.😀

I have a Super NT from Analogue and it was awesome. This was before all of the hoopla and craziness around them when they had casual stock pretty much most of the time. Now they just manufacture scarcity and take advantage of fomo and poor life choices. Thanks.

Analogue freakin sucks. Sure i buy all the new pockets at scalper price but it sucks that i have too. I was fine with the whole waiting a year for their products cause i knew i was going to get it and i bought it at a reasonable price. Wish they still did it, help keep scalper prices low.

The only thing that interests me about the pocket is the screen. If I could find an emulation based system with that screen I wouldn't care less about the device.

I love my Pocket. I use it daily. I got it on eBay a year ago for $299. I thought it was worth it. Still do. I have a grey Game Boy, an SP with mods... and so on. But I play this.

Thank you for the video bro, man there was so much true emotion here it felt like a weight was being lifted off of my own chest because these are exactly the things ive been wanting to say about Analogue. I wanted a pocket so bad I was so hyped, hyped to the max but eventually I just had to admit defeat its impossible to buy their products. It was worse with the first run of the pocket scalpers were reselling that thing for like $600 it was nuts.

I very much dislike this company's business model. In the past I thought about buying their Genesis console along with the Analogue pocket. But I don't want to give my money to a company who hypes their product and do not have it in stock. The whole limited and waiting for a product that plays games I currently can play on lots of other platforms including OG hardware is not for me. I have a friend that owns their Genesis hardware and had to pay a ridiculous amount of money for shipping. When he ordered their adapter for Gamegear it was also a high price for shipping. I will not give my money to a company that does that.

As you said emulation for those systems works very well. And there are some cheap handhelds are equipped with an oled screen and have a quality built. But this is the analogue model “highly limited”. Before they release glow in the dark those console where I stock for immediate shipping. This is the company model and it works well for them.

I ordered my black one in December 2021, received it December 2022. I'm happy with it and it's a great product however the transparent versions looked great and i do keep up with them here and there, I was surprised to see it had sold out in about 10 mins and then unsurprised when I read the same comment section as you... Overall it's a great product but expensive too, shipping fees to Europe are a bit expensive. For example I only bought the AP itself with no accessories, but to even buy the plastic cover for it they are trying to charge 30 USD + 60 USD shipping? How does that make sense? I've no problem paying shipping fees but cost is ridiculous for that shipping alone🤣 the practice of the whole "highly limited quantities" is a joke too.

First, the argument of FGPA's being as close to "Original hardware" as possible is an annoyance, because it is STILL emulating something. HW emulation simply eliminates the "Just in Time" aspect of emulation software. At the end of the day, they both do the same exact thing. The fact that these FPGA systems are being sold as luxury items is frustrating. Besides, at the end of the day, most of Analog's systems end up getting CFW's that allow the console to play other consoles! I have a SNES Classic, a USB "Y" adapter, and a 64GB USB drive with a bunch of era specific consoles emulated. As a guy with multiple OG systems, I DO NOT SEE A DIFFERENCE. And as far as the scalpers are considered? F**k 'em. They are cancers.

I love the pocket. If you have physical cartridges it’s the best option.

It amazes me how these companies treat people and yet these "people" still buy from them... Like seriously people it's not that serious!

I would have figured the video would have been about Arcade 1up. They started off great with really decent prices. Nowadays, a 150 CAD unit costs upwards of 500 CAD. I get there were some issues with getting components, but between mediocre quality and them releasing the same cabinets over and over again, its just messed up. It's almost cheaper to just learn how to build an arcade box yourself these days.

I waited 18 months for my pre-order white pocket. You would think in those 18 months they could have made quite a few glow in the darks and translucents to avoid this sellout. I understand The covid chip shortage argument but all they had to do was put a pre-order up months ago and they would be swimming in money.

I hate scalpers so much. I have patience. Got a PS5 at regular price, and bought an Analog Pocket in white with dock and case at regular retail because I will not support scalpers. Did I have to wait? A little bit, yes. But I always hope the scalpers get stuck with so much inventory they screw up their credit.

Yeah, buying a pocket the first time around was so stressful I just didn't bother trying this time, even though I lusted after the transparent clear version.

I'm STILL waiting on my Analogue Duo as I speak. I pre-ordered THAT back in April or May 2023, and it STILL hasn't shipped.

I hate Pre-orders for anything Gaming n Tech Related, cuz the Supply is Low, the Demand is High and it's a Sclaper Market, gotta make sure it's Limited too 1 per Person plus have plenty of Stock at Launch. That is why I am hoping Nintendo's Next System is around Holiday 2024, not only too make sure there a good Launch Window Lineup of Games but there is a good amount of Stock Available and it's not Sold Out in Seconds.

Sounds like somebody didn't get one. 😂 In all fairness though, I was lucky. I wanted the smoke coloured one but that sold out as I was in the queue. I then went for the clear one, sold out. I went for the purple one, sold out. I went for the blue one, sold out. I then went for the orange one and I got lucky. It wasn't the colour I was after but I'm happy with my purchase. I couldn't agree with you any more though. You'd think that if you have a killer product, you'd do all you can to get them out. And don't even get me started on the eBay scalpers. They're the worst. I'm not paying you an extra £150-£200 just to have it. I'll wait and try again if I needed to.

I had one in my cart but the stupid box wouldn’t register for the stuff it was telling me to capture. And what’s more insane the scalpers are putting the purple one at 450-500 on eBay out of all the colors and it’s the one I want now I’m debating on if I should spend an extra 150 for another color cause the one I want is way out of comfort for buying a system I’ve been trying to get one for like over a year

I'd say Analogue has made some mistakes, but calling them the worst means they are better than DK Oldies, and I just can't agree with that.

Was able to get a transparent purple. Excited to get it in person. Hopefully someone uploads an early look so I can take a look at the others. Was eyeballing the clear and smoke colorways too but went with purple reminiscent of my atomic purple back in the days

I don't understand all the hype surrounding Analogue. Emulation systems like the Miyoo Mini Plus have near perfect emulation. And it's only $60

The company is “buying” their own product and then selling it on eBay for even more profit.🤔 So if you were wondering how they can sell out so quick.

The problem is the microchip shortage… Analogue business model is cautious and if they want to keep afloat their current strategy is their best bet. Unfortunately, the industry at the moment doesn’t supply enough in order to mass produce Analogue Pocket nilly willy and cheap, they can’t do much. It is more complicated than a Switch cartridge manufacturer which does a simpler job and therefore is inexcusable for limited run, but Analogue still has their medium sized business operation to care about .

Needless hate. It opened at 17.00h for me in Switzerland, right when my workshift ended. Perfect timing. Got in, preordered atomic purple, got out. Perfect experience.

I agree man. I managed to get an anologue pocket and the thing is amazing. I’d buy the new model too if they were available. I’m not going to pay four hundred dollars for one from a scalper. It’s false scarcity. Sell the thing or don’t. Why make ten of them and trick everyone with fomo when you could just make more of them and let everyone who wants one, get one. It’s super scummy. I've been frustrated trying to get a pocket for awhile, I play retro games and I write music with nanoloop. Having nanoloop built in with high quality screen and audio in particular is a big deal for me. I just want the regular white or black one, can't seem to snag one at the regular price 😢
