• How to recover data fr...
If your hard drive sounds like this one, then it is most likely means the drive is dead :(
If you are lucky enough and still can access your files on it, then hurry up and back all your data before it is too late.
WARNING: Never attempt to open your new and expensive hard drives like this one.. Opening it like this will cause a major damage. The hard drive is like a CD discs which are encapsulated in a case free of dust .So be careful!!

Even more importantly, never actually power on a HDD with the cover removed. Opening the drive alone usually won't do much damage (unless it's a helium-filled drive or one of those infamous WD(?) drives where the head stack is positioned using the case cover screws), but powering up an open drive, even in a clean room with protective equipment, is almost guaranteed death for modern drives.

I always wonder.... How do they make platters spinning at 7200 rpm with a head moving across the surface in less than a 10 of a width of a hair from the platter, moving back and fourth tens of times per second, while working flawlessly, even while being moved around? Hard drives are truly fascinating.
@photoniccannon2117
@photoniccannon2117 2 жыл бұрын
It basically “floats on air”. the reader head is specially designed to be very aerodynamic and lightweight. On both sides of the reader head, there are drag and air pressure differences created by the rapidly spinning disks. These air pressure differences allow it to self correct its position to avoid collisions. If it swings too far away from the platter, aerodynamics will pull it back down. If it swings too close to the platter, increasing air pressure and drag towards the platter will push it back away, thereby avoiding a collision. It’s remarkably precise. And essentially aerodynamics and a handful of air molecules are all that exist between the reader arm and the platter. Even a spec of dust is enough to create a hard drive crash if it were to somehow get through the drive’s filter. Edit: it’s also worth noting that areodynamics can only protect the platters when the disk is spinning, as the drag required to float the heads isn’t present when the drive is off. Hard drives avoid this problem by moving the heads off to the side before spinning down the disk. In general, drop resistance is significantly superior when the drive is off than when it is spinning.

My brothers old Xbox one S drive died recently. Don't worry, he got a new one (and it's a pre-owned console so it's less expensive)

Mine doesn't sound like this at all... it sounds more like an electronic sort of click... like a light or circuit board component powering on over and over again. And the drive doesn't seem to be spinning AT ALL...

Another way is if a hard drive is rattling a lot then it's probably dead. Another way is to just stick it in the device and just see.

My hdd is making a booming sound. Simultaneously the 2nd drive of 4 is also started making a screeching noise. I put in different HDDs that i had in a storage box idle. They all seem to not read well. Tried different SATA ports too. What can be possibly going on ?

Some people say the same thing, but it doesn't work. If you have some bad sectors, the only thing that maybe can solve it is going with a technician and try to repair the sectors, but if the problem is physical or mechanical, such as scratched platters or misaligned heads, there is only a chance of 10% that any professional can recover it, but in most cases, you will need to buy a new hard drive.
