You might want to check out Ben's song. She wrote this in her teens for a little boy who was a friend of the family who passed away from cancer. She is a national treasure for us Canadians. Also Vox was the first song I heard from her, and her range is amazing.

Josh Groban is one of my favorite chill voices. I always lean twords rock, metal, and heavy metal...that said though there are times when a change of pace is in order and Groban is one of those musicians I go to. And Sarah will always have a special place in my heart and play list from the Lilith days. Both are so professional and experienced and it shows.

This has to be one most haunting and beautiful songs of all time. I intuitively always knew it to be a sad song, a song about addiction/suicide. Her voice alone with its cry/break is so strong/powerful, and yet so vulnerable/broken. I had not heard the duet with Groban. I have heard her singing it with Pink.

OMG - Two Great Singers, Sarah and Josh together.... Love this version which I've watched so many times. What a glorious piece of written music and so much can be taken from this from tragedy to triumph. Sarah light airy and sad at the same time - Josh has so much vibrato and never realized it until I saw it on the pitch monitor. Cheese Louise I wanna cry..............

Last weekend was my 40th Wedding anniversary, so I rented a big cottage in mid Wales for the weekend and had all my family stay over. We were all playing favourite tracks (from all eras), and I picked Adia by Sarah McLachlan as one of mine. My youngest daughter said, shocked, "You like Sarah McLachlan?" I said, "Who doesn't?"

Always loved the song (when sung by Sarah). Strangely, Jackie Evancho sang it beautifully when she was 11 years old. I couldn't believe the feeling she put into it at an age she couldn't possibly have experienced any of the songs story). Groban has a great version of Bring Him Home (from Les Misérables) as well as Lara Fabian's Broken Vow. Truly sublime falsetto...

Superb performance by two outstanding artists. Amazing how important this song has become to so many people- it has become so popular since its release and has a deep and far reach in the collective psyche of our popular culture. What is fascinating is that the song has never been a major hit in any major sales territory. it reached no 36 in the UK yet is has the longevity and reach of a major No1 single. It is instantly recognised and is used on so many occasions and events.

This is a great performance, and a perfect example of how different vocal styles can co-exist to make a great song. Her natural vocal ability clashes poetically with his more “structured” vocals. He at times gets just into an operatic chest voice, which makes a yin/yang effect with her nasal & head voice. Beautifully done, and reminds me of “Perhaps Love” in 1981 (?) with John Denver & Placido Domingo. Yet another great analysis Fil!!!

I’ve been in love with Sarah and that ethereal vocals of hers ever since I first heard her back when I was in Germany. Amazing woman. Never been a fan of Josh’s, though. Just a different taste, I guess. Just like how I can’t believe some people that don’t like Aurora, singer from Norway. She’s MY all-time favorite artist. So, I’m blown away when I come across those people that say they don’t care for her. But, I just remember we all have our own taste in music.

I think Sarah sounds like she tries to stay in her chest voice when she should have flipped up to her head voice. You can hear the flip occur when the weight becomes too heavy for a head voice & I suppose some like that as an effect, but it's not altogether a smooth transition.

Cristina Grimmey was a contestant on The Voice in the US. She was later assassinated at a show. She had great vocal talent, and before being on The Voice she had already begun to be hired to sing at Hollywood events... like I think she was hired to sing live on an episode of Damcing With The Stars. I was a fan of hers, but I thought perhaps they used autotune on this one performance on The Voice. It could be considered insensitive to critique it, so I thought a solution would be to also do an analysis of her singing a song where they did not fine tune the vocals. Maybe her audition when she sang Wrecking Ball, or the performance singing Dark Horse. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/orN9fMZhxMzbpmg.html

I will be honest: I could completely do without Josh here. (Not your fault, Fil, obviously!) I get the context of the performance. No shade intended. But Sarah is the one with the voice of an angel -- that warble of hers is still amazing to me, almost 30 years since *Fumbling Towards Ecstasy*. Hers is such an amazing voice, and I definitely appreciate any attention to it, even when she shares the stage and the video is a blur! At least the labels aren't demanding take-downs! Crap...I don't want to give them ideas. Sorry. ☹️ Shhhh Ang.... BTW, Fil, her piano version of "Possession" is amazing! You don't have to cover it here, but wow, give it a listen. It's so good!

Very nice style. Not for comparison but there was a grunge band that came out of the 90s called Garbage. The lead singer Shirley Manson is from Scotland.
