What if my fear has happened in past and it may occur in future... What if i have 1intrusive thought which i m ruminating since 1month and don't have any compulsion for that thought... Does that mean it's real life problem and not ocd... But my anxiety is continuously there bcoz of that particular thought which is future event based.... I have ocd... What should i do?

@@gayatrishimpi7713Did something happend in one month, if not then leave it, let it be in It's own place this intrusive thought will try harder to gain your attention.Don't give attention.. To your intrusive thoughts. Replace with a mantra or something that gives you permanent peace. Just try not to give in.. I sure that you will be the winner.. If you ignore the thought and it starts to fade gradually be sure that it was a ocd and.... ❤❤❤❤ Do not fear just rely upon you believe most.....🎉🎉❤❤❤

I've had a lifelong battle with OCD, and I find it ebbs and flows depending on life circumstances. The past few times I've forced myself not to double check something, what I told myself wasn't true actually was, which makes one's OCD feel vindicated. Keep at it!

Nathan, I hope you read this, you have no idea how much you've helped me calm down when my thoughts get the hang of me and my anxiety goes through the roof. When I'm on my worst, the only thing I think is to be gone of this world. Maybe the pain goes away. I do what we must not, look for reensurance. It adds to the fuel. However, had I not, I would have never come across you. Glad I did. Whenever I feel in that black hole of anxiety, I come to check your videos. You precisely pin point what I feel. Regardless of the thought. Thank you so much, deeply. Thank you 💛 ❤

Thank you Nathan for teaching me that ocd doesn’t understand logic and so there’s no point arguing back or trying to convince my brain because then ocd thinks it’s important and fires back stronger. Thank you for also teaching me that I shouldn’t try and stop the ocd thought coming to my brain because it will pop stronger. I’ve been choosing not to respond and to divert my attention on something else and now when I get the ocd thoughts my brain doesn’t interpret them as serious thoughts. So it’s all about training the brain and being the boss as you say 🙌🏻❤️

my ocd started in 2002 when I moved out of my childhood home into an apartment. it started with checking doors and then lights, then sockets. I ended up breaking the door handle off because of twisting and checking. I had no idea what was wrong with me. I'd be 15 mins into my drive to work and turn around to go check so see if I had locked my apartment door. I had not idea what the heck was wrong. it would take me 20-30mins to go to sleep having to check the chain, check the bolt, check the door. I didn't live anywhere scary. I think back and relate it to the security of moving from home to being on my own. But it happened over night. I never checked doors or locks when I lived at home. my ocd over the years have turned into a whole other monster. I still check locks, but not as much and I don't take the time to fret like I use to. I saw a specialist for 3 years who helped tremendously. I moved away in 2021 to another state out in the middle of nowhere. It was then I started researching it and found your channel which helps a lot! Thank you for these videos! ❤

Hi Nate! Your videos are gold 💖 How can you separate ocd thoughts, where u should let it go without engaging, from thinking patterns, where u should confront the “bad side of you” and reparent yourself?
@maikcolle3041
@maikcolle3041 9 ай бұрын
Hi Xristine, I don't see a difference. For me, thoughts are thoughts. If they support your (healthy) worldview, you can choose to do something with them (or choose to let them be). If they're based on fear, obsession, compulsion or anything that doesn't match your worldview, disregard them. Either way, you decide their value.

I personally developed a mindset that might help both visualize and deal with intrusive thoughts - maybe it helps you too. I like to compare thoughts in general to a social media feed - just like Instagram. It’s just a constant flow of information. Some are interesting, deeply personal, boring, irrelevant, shocking or random ads. You don’t need to engage, they are just information and you decide if you keep scrolling and spend your focus and time on this particular post. You can even train your feed or the algorithm (your thoughts / mindset) in the long run by only looking at content that benefits you because if you keep actively engaging with negative content, your feed will be negative. And if it’s all too much, step back. Focus on something different. Meditate, meet people, be physically active. You are more than your thoughts and definitely stronger than your OCD.

It’s because you’re looking for some logic behind it and there’s none. Ocd thoughts aren’t logical, they’re caused by of fear and anxiety (of something) so no matter how hard you try they won’t be convinced, and that’s why they should be ignored.

Rumination is a compulsion. We have to stay uncertain to get better, maybe it will happen, maybe it won't. We have to focus on our values and not on trying to figure out the fear. As Nate says, you cant think yourself through a fear. Stay strong, i know it's difficult, but you're in the right place to find out helpful tools and advice. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bbtpd6qWuZ6zgKs.html

Is health anxiety like OCD? I have intrusive thoughts about my health that gives me immense anxiety. I am constantly ruminating over worst case scenarios and trying to comfort myself by getting reassurance from myself and others. I can never get enough though, and even if I feel some comfort, it’s immediately taken from me by doubt. It’s torture and it makes me extremely depressed. Will OCD treatment help me?

Yes possibly if you're truly in psychosis. Maybe you have something else, like manic bipolar. You should try to get properly diagnosed. If you truly have OCD you don't want to escape the anxiety. You need to feel extra nervous and lean into it to have a breakthrough. It's kind of like facing your fears, though there's more to it with the response prevention side. Otherwise you're just doing exposure therapy, and that has limited positive results.
