In the old games it only checks if you've pressed all four directions, so you could quickly press left right down and then up+punch and it will come out

I can’t remember if it’s this or champion edition… but if timed right & in the right range, you should be able to spd some characters when they perform their fireball.

There was one SF2 port, don't remember which, where Zangief was 1/4 of the screen in size and could grab you from half a screen away. He was the true final boss in that game.

You can wake up DP on any meaty, it's just 1 frame timing. If you want to proof of concept it, turn on turbos. You will never miss lol Also Ryus instant jump forward roundhouse is dominant air to air. When Geif empty jumps outside of DP range you can punish with this.

To me the most effective Zangief move is not one of his many throws/holds but actually one of his simple moves. The crouching punch straight to the face. i've gotten out of a lot of trouble using that move.
