Man, I wish his story arc leads to him to actually becoming a Mishima enemy. At this point, he's still stuck somewhere between being Nina's bastard kid, being Larry to Law and Paul's Moe and Curly, and being an experiment with a history with Emma Kliesen, Leo Kliesen's mother.

Mishimas excel in the Mid-Range where they can back off for a whiff or close the distance with 50/50s or Electrics. But against Steve.... you won't have any room to breath or any time to setup your gameplan.

It really has nothing to do with that. Rushdown Steve is basically a meme because he lacks a basic 50/50 out of stance and in stance, his 50/50 can be OS'd. Steve's advantage in this match-up comes from his powerful keep-out with b1/df2. b1 is one frame slower than other character's magic 4s/b1s but it has such a large hitbox that it beats out a lot of Mishima WD and approach tools.

Steve fail key is the mid-long range, in face to face is the top scariest characters (geese, akuma, Paul, kazuya and devil) but when extend the range lost many properties. An other key can take more risks, because don't have launch punishble (only -17f b2, but poor range and hard combo) and punishment out 10f (jabs and continuses). Plan game vs steve is complety diferent if you want to take advantage of your advantages

I would say the real problem I found facing Steve (with Kazuya) was and is you can't condition the Steve player to not use df2 because of not having real good and fast pokes, you can learn to face the b1 and being patient can kill steeve quite a bit but conditioning the Steve not to use df2 I found it the hardest
@jebus40400

I feel like heihachi has an easier time against steve fox compared to the other mishimas simply by having the raijin stance (forward 3+4). I've also found success with db 1+2 as it crushes highs as well as a number of mids. Mind you, this is against my friend, and neither of us are even close to average players lol.
@iskaroth
@iskaroth 4 жыл бұрын
TMM is wrong about Alisa being bad match up for Steve - its the opposite. Steve has arguably better pokes, b1 is better CH move than Alisa's standing 4 due to much quicker recovery on whiff and better frames on block, Steve can punish heavily Alisa's lows which are normally much safer vs other match ups(db3 -12 on block, FC df1+2 -11 OB, DES d1 -12 OB), Alisa relies heavily on block and whiff punishment and good luck with that vs Steve... Also what are those "easy high crushes" Alisa supposedly has? In fact i would say Alisa is below average when it comes to high crush options.

I play Steve, and this video makes him seem god like. He’s not, with a straight forward gameplay, ppl jus duck the whole game. He has very few lows, with just mids and highs, he can’t easily launch like other players. Everything and a combo a Steve gets is earned, relying on Counter hit. Not a easy character at all, and deserves respect.

It has nothing to do with b1 being 1 frame faster than electric. It’s just that Steve excels at lockdown gameplay and is really safe doesn’t take risks. If Steve b1 beats your 50/50 mix ups then you just fucked up your read and didn't need to go for a 50/50 at that time. The whole point of the 50/50 is to open up defensive players who hesitate or backdash too much. It's not supposed be used vs people who mash keepout moves.

kazuyas strength is punishment, whiff punishment and 50/50 but he has average to mediocre pokes steve is extremely hard to whiff punish if they are patient, he isnt really unsafe on block and b1 and df2 hinders the movement kazuya needs to come in at range to start the 50/50 steves weakness is that most of his lows are trash and he lacks range. against a person that turtles and backdashes his stances and walls out his pokes he suffers. constantly having to dck/ stance cancel to keep safety while being at a disadvantage. in frames hes safe but has gaps in his offense. a person that knows frames and pokes well can blow him up while turtling. kazuya winning this matchup has to be mad patient.

@kylefields3951
@kylefields3951 Жыл бұрын
Steve main. Not at all. It's 50-50 IMO. For everything Yoshi does that has good counterplay for Steve's generic tools, Steve can do the same right back. Steve forces some of the most legitimate pressure on Yoshi to make the right calls. Steve's Sonic Fang single handedly shuts down memeing on the opponent in Indian Healing, Backturned Healing, Flea, Backturned Flea, and Helicopter Stance. Yoshi does punish uninformed Duck-Ins hard, but you can just not duck in. That's the Steve player's fault first and foremost. Steve forces Yoshi to play a more straight up game, and a good Steve knows when to not pursue his advantage even at plus frames to punish a Flash. Yoshi is *Great* against Steve, but IMO Steve is *Great* against Yoshi. They're good against *Each* *Other* and it's one of Tekken's deepest and most satisfying matchups to play. I got into Tekken from Tekken 7 and in 2018 I met my sparring partner and we've been playing Steve vs Yoshi for 5 years. I don't think Yoshi wins easily at all. It's a matchup where both characters have great tools to deal with each other's strong options. It's endlessly fun, and satisfying.

@@giuseppegarrubba57 Spamming df2 is what you have to do because that move is crazy. I honestly find that pretty lazy from the devs. A chracter should never be build around generic df2. Pretty boring. I still like Paul but I hope they give him some more utility. Even if they nerf df2 and his damage to make up for it. Would be a lot more interesting.

If you’re facing an aggressive Steve I’d tell you these kinda rules - learn to duck the 1,2,1 string - use lots of high crush moves - from big range you only really need to worry about albatross so be set for that - an evasive but aggressive character really helps against Steve, my personal hell top three are, Feng, Zafina, or even Yoshi tbh

@@TextbookBoxingGB so i main lidia and she has high crush tools but nothing crazy. i mostly like to wait for unsafe moves and highs to punish in most matchups. Marduk Steve and the 2D characters give me the most trouble. marduk cause tackle is goofy, steve cause he's hard to punish, and 2Ds cause they feel like they can blow lidia up harder than most characters. thanks tho. i just need to lab the steve matchup again.

@grandpanoogie2665
@grandpanoogie2665 4 жыл бұрын
The first number is the frame you connected the attack on. The numbers in the (parentheses) are the active frames, so (23-23) means the move is only active for one frame. Look at a generic wr3, it has a ton of active frames in the parentheses, but the first number is the frame you connected the move.

It’s funny cause In another video you said how kazuya is perfect the way he is. Yet with noctis you said how much easier it is to win with him and not kaz and in this vid how he needs a panic move and fast highs and ducking moves or moves where he does a slight dodge. I been saying this kazuya has not been giving the proper care for this vast array of speedy characters. His move set needs to be tweaked more and give him things that go into each other meanwhile him his own son is an all around character and can take the new array of characters . It’s sad that him jack panda the bear Gigas Lee and so on have not been cared for the same way and given proper tools for the next gen. Kaz has been since the first game o believe , except when dead including the tag games. So your in all these tournaments with a vast array of fighters and you just never grow or change your style . Martial artist boxers and more learn other arts or moves so that opponent can’t read and also be more skilled. Your telling me a great fighter like kazuya cant survive adapt and overcome after he’s survived so much. Only in moves and vids he does anything different and can take a bunch of men and jacks quickly.
