Deer and Deer Hunting

6 жыл бұрын

www.deeranddeerhunting.com A doe's home range is much smaller than a buck's home range. They're more homebound. To a buck, they're also a destination. That's why typical deer management advice about "a big doe kill" can miss the mark. If you're not seeing bucks, there may not be enough does on the property. Learn more in this full episode of Deer & Deer Hunting TV.

These guys are right if you own a piece of property or lease. We have a 60 acre piece of property in PA, with a 3 acre food plot. For the first 3 1/2 weeks of the 2018 bow season we never saw any buck or cam pics at all. The thing we did have was 15 doe living there and using our food plot. Then the rut came and we had every buck in a square mile show up for 2 weeks. Needless to say we took 4 nice buck out of 4 hunters off of that 60 acres.

I own a home on a five acres I created a half acer food plot with a waterhole from a buried live stock tank in the back of my property. All adjoining properties are five acres in size that equate to roughly 50 acres combined and know one else hunts that land. So that's my sanctuary. I monitor my cameras overlooking my food plot where I have between a dozen or more deer in there every evening. I wait until a mature buck shows up durring light and thats when i hunt it. I typically get about four sits a season back there and I typically shoot my target buck and see lots of action.

I hunt a 20 acre parcel. Half woods half grass field. 2 ponds. I do nothing special. No food plot. Just corn and carrots for bait. I shoot a nice buck and 2 does damn near every year. Been that way for 12 years. Don't fall victim to all the fancy garbage they promote. The key is to get out and hunt. Put the hours in. And enjoy the great outdoors! And if you're having trouble getting them to come to a specific spot consistently, got out and dump a bag of water softener salt. They will still be eating the dirt long after it's gone

For the every man who does not have property or large enough property this is not for you. This is geared for the fat rich guy who hunts in a warm cozy deerstand or blind, if you want to hunt like a man then you are going for a walk. I walk at least 5 miles, know your hunting area look for the signs. Look for the bedding look for the scrapes i kill my deer bc I walk up on them. So if you really want to enjoy deer hunting hunt like they used to hundreds of years ago because getting a deer that way feels more rewarding and fulfilling then just sitting in a b**** blind

You don't have to create a situation to have good hunts. You just need to know where and when to hunt them. Hunting isn't about preparing land or management. Hunt in natural situations. Deer have been doing the same things for years so why do we have to play god and make the deer do what we want them to do? Get your hands out of the wilderness and just hunt.
@countyline74
@countyline74 6 жыл бұрын
That's not true. World class deer were being taken naturally before hand, and hunting isn't about bragging rights as much as it is about the hunt. The point is allowing nature to take it's own course and to hunt in it's natural state. We don't need to be creating situations. I have taken some nice bucks in their natural state. If you know what time a deer will be in the same spot everyday and have been watching them for a couple years, and feeding them that's not hunting. Hunt naturally with what's presented to you. Learn to adjust to what nature offers. There's nothing mystical about knowing all you deer by names and or where they are. Sure, everybody likes to kill big bucks, but it means a lot more when you have never seen that buck, and killed him through scouting an area, hunting natural funnels, scrapes, bedding areas, trails, and natural food sources, but that's just me. I like not knowing what's out there, and knowing I hunted smart through my own ability rather than creating a situation. It's like playing god.

The idea of killing off does is to kill the total population. 1. Insurance companies want to save money by not having to pay for gun accidents. This is how the concept of sitting in a tree came into being instead of hunting like the Indians and people before the 70s did - stalking deer. Rather then the hunters learning how to move and exist in the woods without the deer being able to sense you (naturally - no commercialized sucker-products needed), marketers encouraged people to buy into their marketing ploys of tree stands, scent blocker etc. Why did the Indians never need this stuff? Think about it. 2. Killing off the population is also advocated by those who hate the 2nd Amendment. Get rid of deer, more people just starting to learn to hunt (tree sit) get tired more quickly of freezing in a stand, never seeing deer, and so give up "hunting." Hence less gun sales. Hence less people to care about if they own a gun or not so media brainwashing can have a stronger influence overall. Shooting fish in a barrel - the modern way of deer :hunting." Learn to stalk, learn to track, become a hunter - not a programmed sitter. Indians did not have Walmart. Indians did not need Walmart. Ask yourself why, modern people are programmed to think they need to spend all sorts of money on modern products (tree stands, lure, special crops, scent blocking soaps, etc.) when the Indians, who HAD to LIVE off their success in hunting, never used/needed these things?

The natives washed and bathed in the streams. They smelled like the earth and they used natural scents such as deer they have previously shot. And like you said, they still had to learn how to be hidden while on the hunt.
@parker6334

Do a little more reading on Indian cultures please. Indians literally covered themselves with the hides of their previous kills to camouflage themselves and their scent.....and baited animals to kill and most likely sat in trees to hunt. Indians used stealth tactics alot more then you think. Native Americans taught early American colonists to hunt and fight in this same manner, wait for your target/prey, dont move, stay quiet, mask/camouflage yourself any and the best way you can.
