Armed with an MBA, Harini wanted to get into the restaurant business with a concept that would serve tasty fare built on quality ingredients but at a price point that would not have pinched her purse as a student. Despite facing initial resistance to the idea from her father, she persisted, and finally after convincing her family for over six months, Zamindar Restaurant finally opened in HRBR Layout, East Bengaluru, with a menu repertoire that paid homage to her Andhra roots, biryanis, and spanning other cuisine influences to cater to Bengaluru’s cosmopolitan diners. In a relatively short span of under four years, her restaurant has carved out a significant niche for itself with its offerings that are built around the promise of “tasty fare at prices that offer maximum value”. I step into Zamindar for lunch, to meet her and her family who now support her enterprise unflinchingly and also taste some of the signature biryanis like the Hyderabadi biryani, ulavacharu biryani, gongura biryani, and other dishes that are a hit with customers. Been a frequent visitor to this place since 4 years. Seen this place evolving into a major restaurant in Kalyan nagar area within a very short span of time.. love the way they design the menu and garner customers. Hari, harini and uncle treat everyone as family and make ppl feel their restaurant as home for regular customers... 🥳🎂🎉🎁

Your review is always exquisite, and that is expected, Mr Amanna. Apart from the quality of the food which you talk about in your inimitable style, it is heartwarming to see you focus upon a smart and capable young brother and sister team that managed to bring their parents around to participate in such a wonderful enterprise. The young lady's entrepreneurial spirit is to be commended. Her passion for the restaurant comes through and it was heartwarming too, for me as the father of a daughter, to see how proud her father is when he admits that he initially tried to discourage her and then offered her his wholehearted support. These are the kinds of families that will see India become strong and prosperous. While the world looks at technology (and I work in the technology licensing industry) we ignore the fact that India has been taking the bulk of the awards for its superb management of hotels, restaurants and resorts for nearly a decade now. The love for food is in our blood and the hard working people who do their best to keep Indian cuisine loved both in India and overseas, is something that the GOI needs to promote much more actively. We buy a phone, a desktop, a laptop and an i-pad once a year, but have to eat three times a day.

Rarely do you see a woman in charge of a business in India. When I say in-charge, not just the cash counter but the whole of ops and business. This young lady has it in her. Humbly in charge, knows what she is doing, cool and calm and most importantly can handle customers with ease. I am not from Bengaluru nor am I a non-veggie, but I wish her and Zamindar all the very best.
