Miles is Really overrated...he just played with people better than him... The best player was Clifford brown.

@@mainstreet6999 Miles was far from boring he made a lot of awe inspiring music he always did something different and stayed unpredictable the opposite of boring , you probably haven’t listened to miles like I have Clifford was a technician Miles was an artist with vision he went from doing stuff like Boplicity,So What, Springsville to doing stuff like Maiysha, Ife, Prelude on Agharta , Calypso Frelimo, Sivad , Honky Tonk, Yaphet, Black Satin, Go ahead John & many others , Miles was far from boring very entertaining to listen to you probably just listen to his ballads and thinks that’s all he does it’s no way you heard Right Off from the Jack Johnson album or those others I named and think that shit is boring

@@JusNBL2000 oh no, I heard miles in many recordings, not just ballads, mostly because of coltrane, but I just don't get miles at all, he tries to be diferente but fails terribly to me, his solos lack something. coltrane is well Coltrane, he is original and i can listen to Coltrane all day, including woody shaw and freddie Hubbard... But miles, I just don't get.... But then again it's a personal preference. You don't have to agree with me.

You've really inspired me to start playing things that aren't on my instrument. I recently got into Sidney Bechet and I noticed instantly that I'm taking in completely different information compared to ONLY transcribing the alto sax bebop greats.

He was mimicking Bird…as probably most jazz players where doing at that time…the only reason he played less notes later is because he like Ahmad Jamal’s sparse playing and the space between his notes

great however u missed that third note before the end a crucial note in the lick which gave it a major taste but you played it flat and turned the lick minor.

He did get a note wrong in the diminished arpeggiation at the end, but he just played a flat 9 on the top as opposed to a major 9. Though to be fair, maybe I'm mistaken (my jazz listening is really not up to standard in thorough-ness to be making claims like this), but I feel like very few people would play a major 9 on the 5 of their 2 5 1's, kinda gives it an "old fashioned", "not edgy enough" sound, kind of more reminiscent of things like early Miles, after a point if any one was playing playing a 9 it always seems to be flat like it's from the altered scale.

Those trumpet players are talking out of their asses, Miles was a virtuoso on the trumpet and one of the greatest improvisers on ANY instrument in history.
