I know the video is about Moira, but seeing the Rein's go back and forth at each other was the most entertaining to me 😅

Hey everyone, I'm the Kiri/Moira in this vod (I still can't believe I'm actually on an Emongg's video, this is unreal!!!). Anywho, this VOD session was very helpful, I've been playing solo mostly, with my friends occasionally stepping in to play together, so I've developed a bad habit of trying to do everything at once when I have yet to have the ability to handle all of that so it was nice to see Emongg pointing that out, I never thought of working on that in my gameplays so I will definitely try to settle down and try to be more of a team player in my future matches. Again, I can't thank you enough for being so nice and on point to me! I was watching the stream on twitch but i was kinda nervous to type in chat, still I had a good time during that session. Ok, when taken out of context it does sound weird that I want to climb to Diamond yet I think Plat is too high for me, so here's my 2cent: When I dropped back to Gold for the 5th time in season 9, I started to heavily doubt myself as I had a terrible time in gold, and just to make it out of gold would take me a tremendously long time (like over 200 matches), even with a duo. However, my friends who are of higher ranks have told me that I have the ability to get to diamond, as long as I keep the grind goin (and I eventually was in diamond lobbies at one point on season 8 - I was in plat 2), which is why I'm now in this state of mutually doubting myself and being confident enough to think that I can get out of plat 😂😂. Anyhow, I'll try my best to work on my cd management, positioning and will try to be calmer (and on my kiriko too!) I have trouble on Kiri in that match cuz I thought I couldn't bring out any values as her (especially the part where my cleanse couldn't undo their Rein's shatter took a devastating blow to my ego) so I just went with Moira for the rest of the match to think less of my mechanical skills and to get more engaged in the teamfights. I'm definitely looking forward to getting to diamond and oh boy will it be a loooong journey, but I'll take your review to heart and work on my gameplay!

I'm only a slightly higher rank as you so take my opinion a grain of salt I guess, but I thought that you're gameplay was actually really good and that a hard support carry won the game at the very end! One thing I saw that emongg didn't mention is that sometimes the easy way to not "try to do too much" is to recognize what you can and cannot do. For example at like 15:20 you peeled for your Anna due to a Genji (a good play) but you tried to heal Anna at first. At that point, with the health Anna was at, her ass was grass regardless of your healing output. The best thing you could do is just try to kill the Genji, you might even have a better chance at saving her. Remember that a damage orb and your damage attack is pretty overwhelming for pretty much every character in the game, especially low HP flankers (Tracer will be a bigger problem than Genji in Diamond). That's just my opinion though Anyways, stay chill and thanks for the VOD

@@Sloth-c1w hey! I just wanted to offer some encouragement. I have struggled through that gold to diamond journey and it is not easy. I went from gold 1 to diamond 3 in a single season recently........ but I also had to play over 300 games to do it. it takes a lot of time. it is truly a grind. and getting so close only to drop back down is so demoralizing, it feels so shitty. after the rank reset, I haven't had enough time to devote to comp to climb back to diamond 3 so I'm also experiencing a bit of what you're going through rn too. so I totally understand that crisis of confidence. when I was bouncing throughout plat, up to plat 2, then down to plat 5, back to plat 3, plat 4, then plat 1, all the way back down to plat 5, etc., what I tried to focus on was that I had climbed to plat 2 and 1 before. I had done it once, and therefore, logic would suggest that I could do it again. the next step is looking at a variety of your vods, wins and losses, and asking yourself what you did differently in those games. what did you do more often in the wins than in the losses? were there times you would respond the same way to situations but end up losing the game anyway? do some investigation there. ask yourself how you can give your teams even a 1% increased chance of winning each fight. are there situations where you just never know what to do? think about how you can deal with those situations. as you're doing laundry or dishes, think about what you should do on your main heroes if X happens. if Genji blades you or your other support, how do you need to react as Moira? if you're on kiriko, what do you need to do? etc etc. practicing this decision making outside of the game will mean that you're prepared to address problems in advance. make sure you have a solid understanding of your weaknesses and common mistakes so that when you're setting up for the next fight, you are already trying to mitigate them. for example, "I tend to lose track of my other support during fights. I'm going to position here so I can keep an eye on them and the rest of the team at the same time, and I am going to check on them frequently." articulating these kinds of things to yourself during the game will be HUGELY helpful. and by doing this, you will be constantly consciously aware of your improvement and your own journey. focusing on those things will inevitably result in a long term climb. focusing on how I improve instead of the rank aspect has helped with my confidence a lot and has let me have more fun. and sometimes, you also just burn yourself out on rank and need to take a break to recoup for a few weeks. that's okay too!

@@moon-pp2uo Oh yeah, for some reason our Ana and me synchronized quite well from the 2nd round on despite neither of us were using vc at the time, she was doing really good too XDD. Yeah I definitely will have to look out for that, I might have taken "a support's job is to sustain the team" a lil bit too seriously and I know from ss9 on, eliminations are better than heals and that is one thing I still have to work on. Kinda pains me to see them die in front of me but sometimes it's better to accept it and get an additional elim to make it at least a 4v4 before combat T.T. Your opinion is actually great, I'm so happy that my gameplay was called good by a fellow player, but there are always more things to learn if I want to get to diamond and actually belong there! So any feedback is always appreciated, and I thank you for that ^o^

@@sethescope Oh yeah, it took me almost 150 matches just to get to plat 5 from gold 5 but from plat 5 on, it was a smooth ride all the way to 80% plat 2 within only 50 to 60 more matches , then I'd get demoted all the way back to gold T.T, since then I haven't been playing comp alot, but lately my friends have been telling me that I'm improving so much recently, so I thought why not try to solo q as support, to see if I can actually get to diamond without asking for their help (I don't wanna be a higher ranked player with the awareness of a blind avocado while my friends do all the work, I would feel terrible bc I don't deserve the rank LOL). Thank you for the encouragement, so at least I know the struggles are real and more common than I think. I have definitely been reviewing my replays to see how my positioning could have been better, what are the things I could prioritize on, or what are the things I'm still bad at, and I even got the courage to send this VOD review to Emongg! I'll keep grinding on and once I'm actually able to get rid of my comp anxiety, I'll truly enjoy my process alot more. Thank you so much for your input and kind words, of course :D

@@Sloth-c1w dude comp anxiety is the worst, and the worst thing about it is there's really no cure except to play so much comp that eventually a single comp match doesn't have the same emotional stakes anymore. I'm dealing with a lot of that too right now, so I hope I will learn from your example! 💖 I really think people don't talk enough about how comp is legitimately a grind. significant progress doesn't happen overnight, and most people will spend a lot of time bouncing around when they start to be ready for the next rank because the issue isn't that you don't know how to play like the next rank up. the issue is just learning how to play that way in 99% of the games you play, and that's not easy!! it takes time! and when you're bouncing around, games aren't very consistent. if you're in low plat lobbies, most of the time you cannot play the same way you would play in a high plat or low diamond lobby because your teammates don't have the same level of skill. making that adjustment constantly is also really hard. but you clearly have the right attitude and you're willing to put in the time, and to me, those are the most important things. climbing will happen. it just won't happen as quickly as we want it too 😂

1000hr Moira specialist here! (And yes, of course I’m autistic, why do you ask?) I would definitely classify Moira as a multitask hero. I’m always changing where I’m looking at, or looking out of the corner of my eye for opportunities to damage or allies that need my attention. It’s a really important part of playing her, especially as you start to climb. But you have to know where to look and why and when. You don’t have to show off your sensitivity or pretend you’re on the teacups at Disney. It’s all about knowing where everything is on the battlefield and what needs your attention.

Hey, thank you for the tips. I'd gladly do anything to improve on the heroes I play so it's awesome to get some pin points for what I lack! I know it's never about the sens but I thought I'd want to let you guys know why my camera movement was so weird (trust me this is NOT an ego vod, it's literally how i normally control my cam movements as moira, i swear) 😭😭 cuz my remaining heroes are sitting at 5-6 sens while Moira gets 13. I was also told that my gameplay gets really wonky when things get chaotic due to me not being able to process what to do in a messy team fight. And of course I just get lost from there 😢 that too is something I need to work on and hey I'm also glad to meet a fellow Moira enjoyer (I'm at 200 hours on Moira). I'm actually excited and willing to hear more from you!! Thank you again 🎉🎉

A lot of kirikos I see will tp to a low teammate to heal them and don’t think of the danger, instead tp to a teammate in a good position and that has line of sight to the teammate you want to heal, so now your not putting yourself at risk and can assess the situation better
@Sloth-c1w

I do think of the danger but the temptation is just too big.... Just kidding 🤣🤣 No but like really, I will have to get rid of that habit before it becomes my second nature to tp into my own death, I definitely could have teleported to my teammates that were in better positions, and me not doing that was a big factor to why we lost so many teamfights on the first round

like emongg said, it looks like this person is trying to do a thousand things at once and thus isnt able to do anything. you're in gold/plat. you don't need to overcomplicate it. just have a clear vision of what you want to do during the fight and position/plan accordingly. you want to keep your team alive and apply some pressure when your team doesn't need healing. play in a position where you can safely do both so it's easy to swap between those goals. focus on healing one person back to an acceptable hp threshold at a time. keep an eye on where your other support is so you know who they can see and heal and so you can go help them as needed. don't commit too hard to any one thing, always keep your head on a swivel so you can identify who needs help next. take a deep breath. slow down. focus on the basics. keep it simple. there's no need to panic.
@Sloth-c1w
@Sloth-c1w 28 күн бұрын
Yeah I tend to panic way too much especially in competitive matches where I have to give it my all 😭, I do feel like I need to trust my team more but sometimes I just feel like I can't trust anyone in solo q (I'm not saying they're bad, it's just a bad habit that I have developed over time being in gold in too long, I'm just playing mostly by myself which is of course a terrible thing to do in a team based game like Overwatch) so after watching this replay and having Emongg pointing out what my problem is, I'll definitely have to take it slower to actually make things work. Thank you for your insights!!!

@@Sloth-c1w I totally understand what you mean by wanting to trust your team but also feeling like you can't trust anyone lol I don't think it's as simple as one or the other! I try to start every round with the assumption that everyone is going to do their best to do "their job" e.g., if I'm playing Ana and the other support is on Mercy, I'm going to assume they will handle the dps and will let me primarily handle the tank. but I keep an eye out and reassess if I notice our dps aren't getting much attention and mercy is spending a lot of time healing the tank when I'm alive and right there. if that's what happens, then I know I can't trust them to pay attention to the dps so I will just do it. I think starting with the assumption people are going to play their hero "correctly" is really good because it sets you up to enable teammates who do have a good idea of what they want to do AND helps you build awareness to identify problems and understand how you as a support can adjust to address issues. and for me it helps me not get as frustrated as often because I'm like, "okay, X is struggling, and I can be the one to adjust and make up for that." it also gives other people the chance to surprise you! and I think that's nice :)

Watching this I can really see how this person definitely has the potential to climb, while also seeing the behaviours that show why they are where they are. They don’t play like a lunatic in crazy positions very much, so obviously not bronze, they have decent, but not great aim and cooldown usage, so not silver, they have a foundation of working as a team but try to do too much themselves, so they’ve clearly passed gold. They have a grasp of just how effective high ground is, and, during the parts where they are clearly more calm, show that they have started to develop that mechanical skill that you need to climb. Clearly they belong in Plat, at least right now. Personally though, I agree with their buddies. I absolutely think this person can climb out of Plat. With more practice they can easily get into that “calm vibe” better, which will lead to better results as time goes on. I’d be interested in seeing a second replay from this person if/when they do manage it, as it would be cool to see a “Then and Now” comparison.
