In New Zealand we had a similar election last time. Initially it was believed Jacinda would win a second term because she was so likeable, but not my much, about like 2%~. As a result, no one in national had a plan to pull ahead of her, and no one wanted the lead the party, so the nationals kind of just shat itself and embarrassed itself all the way to the polls with scandals and the most moronic campaign promises you’ll ever see, like stating “we will build more roads in Auckland so it becomes the Los Angeles of New Zealand”. As a result they lost by about 15% (give or take), but somehow did better than NZ first who was completely knocked out of parliament.

The thing about Turkey's veto against Sweden is not quite like you explain it. The basis is that Sweden mostly (as well as Finland to a lesser degree and some other countries) actively halted firearms sales to Turkey in the midst of a multi-national operation by placing a full ban on all sales. What is important to understand, is that the eastern region that borders between Turkey and Syria, has been a warzone for decades between multiple factions. This war on Turkey's side of the border has mostly been against the Terrorist group PKK - acknowledged Terror group by the US and EU (and other nations). The militia-group residing on the Syrian side of the border were intelligence-proven to have ties with PKK, and Turkey announced the backing of an Arab-Syria intervention against the militia. The US had been working with said militia to combat ISS in the region, but acceded the Turkish backed military operation on Syrian ground due to the large militia buildup at the border. The operation was agreed to not stretch no more than 19 miles into the Syrian side of the border. So what we are essentially looking at, is a Nato country (Turkey) not wanting to grant free membership to a set of nations (Sweden, FInland) that actively ban/sanction that very same Nato country. Turkey requests that Sweden (and Finland by associate) lifts the military ban if they want to join the military coalition of Nato. As much as I despise the Turkish dictator Erdogan (aka faux "president"), this act comes as no surprise. Who would let anyone join without having them lift their pre-existing military bans? After all, Nato is a military aid. How would you want to go about potentially aiding a nation that is actively banning your military operations? Meanwhile, I say this as a Danish citizen who would love nothing but to have our Nordic brothers accepted into the coalition if they so desire. But having one foot on either side, my objectivity states that in order to be accepted into Nato, it is only fair that their existing military bans on a major Nato member are lifted.

Oklahoman here. Disappointed in both my country and my state with regards to the stance of human rights, particularly the aims to ban abortions. The senator (Mickey Dollens) response with his tongue and check proposition was thoroughly refreshing to hear as it pretty well sums up how stupid the situation is. Also, the actual reason Labor was elected but with much less support than normal is because their climate change policy was still very subpar, hence people voting even more environmentally progressive people instead. This election may have partially been a vote against the coalition but it definitely did not mean that the left ideologies were not increasing in popularity, it was actually that, for a good portion of voters, neither major party were left enough.

If you slow the intro down by 50 percent, you can see just how well Max/Crusty timed the clips with the music. Nice job Bros. (I'm not sure if Editor means writing or film editor but regardless y'all are badass)

Hey this may get lost but would still be worth saying. swag team, could you do a story on agriculture and how seeds aren't owned by farmers because they're patented and cannot be replanted after harvest and the farmers are forced to buy these seeds from the owners of said patents? This is incredibly anti consumer and is one of the reasons why we have less farms and food.

More news, several Commonwealth (British Monarchy) countries are planning to federate, meaning the title of their highest state official will change from 'Governer General' to (likely) 'President'. Australia is included in this list, and as part of federation these countries will likely change their flags to remove the Union Jack which currently represents their position within the Commonwealth of Nations.
