I’m one of the developers of Pogo Rogue- thanks for playing, it was a joy to watch! As student developers, we had a really short timeline (less than 8 months) to make and publish this game, but now that we’ve graduated we’ll be able to release some updates soon!

This game is one of those where 99% of the time, you look and feel like a drunk baboon playing it, then you watch that one top 0.0001% guy speedrun it and build a shrine to its fluid beauty as your eyeballs melt from the smoothness of it all.

You were dead on with the "are pogo sticks real" bit, they were super popular in the early 80s, but they had to stop marketing them to kids because they turned out to be pretty dangerous, my older brother has a scar up his whole shin from a pogo stick. 😂 They are still around, but they pretty much only make adult size ones now, (you can still get smaller kid versions, but they barely hop, inentionally) and they're not all that popular. There's even people who do tricks and such with them, and competitions. Pretty wild for what started as a dangerous kids toy 40+ years ago.

Honestly, I feel his struggle is mostly to do the lack of understanding the game, specifically the fact the weapons reload on killing enemies as he barely uses the shotgun and keeps switching weapons after using the amount as the clips (2-3 shots) as shown with the shotgun and especially with the grenade launcher.

btw after playing it, i've found out that the items and actives are the most important part of the game and you dont even look at what they are xD they can do stuff like heal you and kill enemies easily by shootin shots upwards or flying through the air imortal for a few seconds-

I believe in many places, the production of pogo sticks became illegal due to numerous lawsuits brought on by just how hard it is not to get hurt on one of those things. So for the most part, if you find the pogo stick it’s most likely an antique.

BIG PRO TIP: The shotgun is the best damage dealer in the game, and if you can learn wall bouncing it can be the best movement gun in the game as well. As you know landing on any surface (except the golden bouncers) will reload your weapon, so combine the boost you get with shooting your shotgun into the movement of wall bouncing and you suddenly have high speed and high damage dealing.

Only the bottom point of the pogostick can safely hit enemies, you have to land on them in a way that allows the pogostick to do a jump to not take damage. (unlike say Mario where you just need to hit the enemies from above.)

@@OlexaYT I can safely say that I did clear the tutorial pretty quickly after having just tried it. But I had to bust out the controller. Keyboard just doesn't do it lmao. Then when trying the actual game, I ended up falling down a deep hole so fast that I broke the game's collision system entirely and had to start over. Yeah, I can see how this would be difficult if you're not used to janky physics in games. Also, while we're here, there's another completely free game (no ads, no micro, just a fully featured RPG with rogue elements) I think would be up your alley, called Moonring Edit: And on my runs without glitches, yeah, there's definitely a skill floor to this game. Though I was also getting bad luck on my last run (no items, enemies in tight areas), I do like how the game does favor skill over luck.
