Hey Pete A little story here. I painted a truck 30 years ago and had a peroxide stain from to much hardner in my body filler, my own fault! I thought i'd have to strip it all the way down but after a call to my paint co tech line they said that the clear would seal it, just to heat light it, scuff and re base and clear. I did that and to this day it's still holding up, Just throwing this out there.

It wasn't the usual brick red color, it was light red, 3 months after the job was done you could see the pinky-red comming through the primer and white basecoat. Luckily it was very very light and on a 4x4 work truck and the owner didnt care, but it drove me nuts, I usually use rhe blue only now. I don't know why they feel the need to mess with everything.

Pete, you may have already took a grinder to it , but if not ,scuff it with 320 or finer ,scotch Brite even, you know just to break the surface ,spray it with "water Bourne sealer", it doesn't have the" petroleum distillates "( vehicle) of "Solvent Bourne products/ reducers " in it for the dye to take a ride on, to the surface , then you can either spray your base or epoxy sealer first, if you like to spray your base on that . I've done it both ways before . You won't have to apply g2 and Sand again ,hours and strain saved . I've had similar staining happen here and there working for shops that change bodymen that weren't on the same page as the rest of us (Red hardners in fillers usually under lesser hiding colors) or radical red paint pigments that didn't get coated with filler primer completely ( I liked PPG K 36 at the time , fill with it and /or use it as a sealer / adhesion promoter ) . You're using u pol filler ,that's great product also . Worth a shot on a part or two to check it out , anything to not ruin all that fine hard work you've already done . Try the water Bourne it lays out slick . Good skill Pete . I've had Evercoat tell me I did some thing wrong , when I was their poster child previously to one random problem , we have to grit our teeth and bend over , when we want to lash out , I feel what your feeling all over again . Like you Pete I've done vehicles from grocery getters to million dollar collectors . Take it easy . 🤕

@@lawncuttingplusdelta you would think so , sometimes dyes take a ride to the surface on the solvents in the product, as it evaporates, everything trying to escape at the surface . Was thinking water bourne because it is solvent "inert" ,and wouldnt add much film build ( mils.) Before water Bourne base coats came out , I would use the sealer for problems beneath top coats , because in a production shop setting ,I didn't have the luxury of time to be taking it down to body work again . But I read Pete's comment that he already sprayed g2 and is going to sand , sand , sand . Not fun , but it'll get there. 😭

I would not strip the car Pete. I'd just scuff it and recoat the yellow with at least 3 more coats of base and then clear it again. You've just got too much work into it to trash everything and start over. And if your blue is not dark enough that pink it will show through that as well if you don't put your blue on really thick. I'd leave a couple of hours dry time between coats but that is not what most would agree with these days.

Wow, I don’t think they sell that around our woods. Pete, you really get in to a lot of work and things like this will make you go broke painting cars. Really terrible that all that work you did has to be redone. Feel for you brother, been there. Most of us old painters are dead from cancer due to all the chemicals. Since I am a little older than you, take or leave the peanut advice but here you go… Don’t ever go for colored bondo, colored primer, color changing bondo or anything new. Your instincts were right, always trust your instincts. If you want to try something new, try it on door jams first, only in a small area. Then get some really good hand held lights to go over how it looks once it drys. I even got burned doing that one time. Years ago I painted a 65 Plymouth Valiant Signet bright yellow. The yellow paint I bought screwed me bad. So I do the jams, I inspected them well, they looked fine. Then I did the engine bay and it kind of looked great but when it fully dried it looked like the mess you had. So I scuffed the whole bay and reshot it. Looked fantastic once dry. Then I painted the car. After the spray it looked like a show winner. So I thought maybe that engine bay debacle was just some mystery. I went to bed that night happy. The next morning the whole car looked like your mess. Same thing, a ton of unplanned work to scuff the whole car down and shooting it again. The crap I was using I realized was shrinking so bad that on small areas like door jams it seemed to perform fine on. Any large area as it dried, it appeared to pull and cause thin spots in the paint on large panels like random patches. Took me three days of hard work to fix the mess. Now it ended up real nice in the end but I never used that crap paint again. I like PPG paint, House of Color. In Alaska I shot mostly Napa paints. That Napa paint was good paint for the price and they had the best paint shop in Anchorage. The only problem I had with Napa paint was getting the garage hot enough for the paint to flow good and settle to a smooth surface. That mistake of shooting a car a hair too cold was on me and I quickly figured out what went wrong and never did it again after four days of sanding and reshooting the car. I saw a guy on utube that painted a Satellite or maybe it was a Road Runner three times. He was pretty clueless and after his third attempt the paint work was still a mess. I think he totally gave up and drives it that way. Good luck on the next shoot.

I'm praying for you Pete. I heard of bleed through before in the 80s, but in my book , Your RIGHT! You did everything right, all your knowledge definitely shows, which is y I love your channel. What turd at ever coat came up with the idea of adding dye to a filler primer. Dye, is dye, in my book once you add it to whatever it is, it becomes part of the product. I my honest opinion, dye is color. I definitely cannot see how " dye" can float to the surface and dry that way. Its impossible. I'm not a chemist, I just think out of the box on my shoulders. Even if you sand the optex till its gray, I cannot see that happening, as it is part of the product, it will always be there. They use dye in bondo to turn it green I found out. My guess, if you coat it with g2, then, sealer, then paint, its going to do it again. I'm a carpenter by trade, 40 years, built furniture for whole hotels by myself, no help, and I use wood dyes alot ,I dont use stains. The only way I can get wood dye out of wood, is good old javex. No dye left, but it does not help your situation. Its DEFINITELY the dye ever coat is using, or maybe they fd up the batch?? They will never tell you though :( your in my prayers 🙏

Pink anything under any color is an absolute no-no. Evercoat should know that. Pink dyes so difficult to create that they are made with a consecrate that is so strong it will always be visible under any light color, primer, sealer, or not, especially and I mean especially yellow. With the adhesion chemicals they use today, they actually melt everything underneath them and allow the pink to show through. So rule of law, never put pink anything under any paint job. It really sucks what happened. That is a very expensive failure and Evercoat should know better and take responsibility for their ignorance. So give them shit Pete. Back in the late 60's when the vibrant colored paints first hit the market, everybody quickly learned about color bleed through. Today, the corporate technicians know shit and they just don't care.

You think before the send a product out , the manufacturer would have did a bunch of test painting on metal and fibreglass.. they must have known it bleed.. unless they did a test and painted it pink....

When I get the run around from a few different people within a company including managers and supervisors to no avail I then take it straight to the top. I email the company's ceo. I do it in a professional manner. It has worked every time so far and even with some of the largest companies in the USA. Most heads of these companies will take legitimate claims such as this very seriously and act in a prompt manner. If it were up to me I'd give you a full refund and comp you $500-$1,000 worth of product or offer a cash compensation. It sounds like that product should be pulled off the market.

Ive called them 10 plus times, left messages, texted and called the clown rep. over and over just as he asked me to do, with no repsonse.. As you say in your comment, my next step is to email the company with detailed pictures of the process i took and see where that goes.. I have noticed from other videos on here that my application of this crap left the finish on the vehicle Dark Thick Pink, where as other videos showing the product being used it dries Dusty Light Pink .... So it's obvious there's something wrong with this batch of pink shit, and knowing my luck -- It'll be the only gallon in history that ever went bad!

Strip it down and get it right like you’ve done so many times before. With all the product you sprayed on it has way to many mils on it regardless of how much ya sand off. Turn it out Pete like we know you can. That Bug will make ya famous!😂✌️👍☝️

Black Primer will “kilz “ it, I like dark primers with one light coat of white, then my color. 3 coats. only my heart bleeds. 😊

The reducer is pulling the guide coat pink color to the top unbelievable it's not been discontinued you may need to sand all that completely off and start over sorry to say.

Shit , I wouldn’t strip it down. I’d sand down the paint and repaint the yellow again and clear it and be done. Stripping it down to bare metal would really suck

u have to read the instructions... it s a new product you arent used to. why not use dark coat of epoxy to stop bleed?

I did read the PDF and TDS on this product before using!! The stuff is shit, plain and simple.. I checked out other videos of people using and noticed that the product I used went on dark PINK that looked like paint, and their's went on light duty pink.. It's obvious this gallon is a bad batch. But it figures it would happen to me... I think It will be all fixed by using Epoxy sealer then Feather Fill.. Just alot of work...
