I've mentioned the MassPrice tool several times, but have never done a dedicated video about it for some reason. Anyway, I'm fixing that now, here it is. It's a pretty simple tool, though not super intuitive and does not have a lot of documentation with it. So it can be kind of intimidating. It doesn't help that TCGplayer does't really advertise it very well. I feel like this should be the number one reason anyone would want to set up a Pro Seller account, unless they are looking for in-store POS systems.

Appreciate your take and showing this chase, I can’t say with only about a few hundred listing and somewhere between 1-2K inventory, that I personally feel the need to use this tool. To me, if I miss things in my inventory and prices go up, it leaves potential snipes for customers to just move bulk that was sitting in my boxes anyways, so personally, I intend to still do manual price changes to my inventory myself for the foreseeable future - it takes more time sure, but again, I do this so I can spend all my time dealing with cards and my store, I recognize there’s things that may increase my efficiency and output which I will put it into practice, but some things I don’t exactly plan on utilizing, purposefully in fact. Not many are in that boat lol

Of course! This isn't needed by everyone, as I said in the video. This hopefully lets you know IF it's right for your business. TCGplayer unfortunately doesn't really talk about these tools much, so I'm hoping some hands on demonstrations will help people with the decision process. There are as many ways to operate as there are operators, so for sure make the best decision you can

@@TCGBulkKings yes totally! It’s actually why I got into watching your channel earlier last year, and appreciate your insight - as you were the only person I’d found on KZfaq at that time (and currently as well tbh that really gave a thorough deep dive into the bulk market. I mainly sell Pokémon and some yugioh, though i probably will branch into MTG and sports cards as well, potentially. Yes I recognize my opinions with the tools may change in the future as my scale of volume increases, but that’s part of what im really focusing on right now as I get my grind and setup down on all these early orders - I enjoy messaging each customer, writing a handwritten note with every order, including a random freebie usually, and other small things that I feel make the order more personalized, and even as my volume may (hopefully!) increase in the future, I plan to simply dedicate more and more time to doing this, as again, I recognize a more manual operation is not as efficient as others - I do feel there can be a loss of human touch at large volume and I simply aim to retain that while being able to manage more and more high output days Keep up the videos bro, I always enjoy watching them! Buying a cheap scanner like the one you showcased is a tool that I probably will utilize eventually, and I wouldn’t have put it on my list of things to ‘upgrade or improve’ had i not seen it in your video

Hopefully they add more options to customize rules. Have no problems with NM cards but I like to place bulk cards of lower condition as a certain percentage of one cent below market price. For LP I typically do 90% of one cent below NM market price, with a floor that varies by rarity/foil. If the card is or has been worth more than $1 then things change somewhat

I really appreciate this high level overview of how to set rules. Is there any major difference between your "store" rules and the "marketplace" rules?
@TCGBulkKings
@TCGBulkKings Ай бұрын
The main difference I have is that I discount the price a little for buying in My Store (i.e., the pro seller website TCGplayer provides to pro sellers) versus the general marketplace price, to reflect the lower fees, and maybe entice people to purchase that way

@TCGBulkKings
@TCGBulkKings 4 ай бұрын
I don't think I understand your question. If you're just starting out, you retain your own inventory and ship it out yourself to the customers after they buy. If you are using a service like Sort Your Product, I've never used it and so I can't really give advice on it. But I suspect that the rarity of the cards doesn't really matter, as much as the actual value of those cards. Best of luck with it!

How would you use this tool to separate the prices for cards that are in Direct and for cards that are not in Direct? I notice as I price my cards, some cards are in Direct and some aren’t. Which makes the pricing tricky because with direct for cards under $4, they do take 50%.
@TCGBulkKings
@TCGBulkKings 4 ай бұрын
MassPrice (or TCGplayer at all, for that matter) doesn't currently have any way to separate pricing for cards available in Direct versus non-Direct. The only way I separate them is that when I initially list a card, I put it at the Market price. Then I use MassPrice with rules related to the Direct Low price (if the game is in Direct). If there isn't a Direct Low price, because TCGplayer is out of them at their warehouse, then it just skips that price change and leaves it at Market, or at least, that's what it looks like it's doing.

I haven't really put a lot of thought into what time, I usually just run them in the morning because I do a lot of listing in the evening slash at night. I have found the mass pricing tool to not have enough features to make it worth it. Especially for newer games (I mostly sell lorcana). There are too many low end sellers to start prices at low and the market prices are too volatile to use as the basis. I’ve lost a ton of potential $ by using the tool because as usual tcg player refuses to add features that are valuable like “lowest verified seller” or “price as 10th highest” etc. If you do not mind potentially losing money it saves time and if across multiple games it may help but I’ve found there are just too many people dumping cards at too low of prices comparatively I like the tool I just wish it had more options
@TCGBulkKings

They definitely could put more features into it. Feels very much like a 'minimum viable product' sort of thing, but I can say it has made me considerably more than any of those potential losses. I wish they wouldn't create these really interesting value adding products, and then just halt development on them. It would be cool if Quicklist worked with the newest scanners and not just one old series of one scanner brand, but here we are

So for your floor set at $0.10 cents, are you not concerned that cards that truly are worth say $.01 - .06 cents will never sell? That is only part that confuses me.. I have seen tons and tons of cards where the sale price seems pretty regular at a few pennies, so it seems like if you set to .10 cents you will never sell any of those cards. What is your view on this?
@TCGBulkKings
@TCGBulkKings 3 ай бұрын
In the short term, some of them /do/ sell, as synergistic sales from people looking to get several cards from one source. Also some sell because people buy them from /me/ rather than some other store, because of my feedback and branding. And finally, in the long term, the prices will change. I'm not advocating for hoarding hundreds of copies of hundreds of different cards, if you need to clear them out, someone will buy them in bulk just like you did from someone else. Unless the market and/or civilization completely collapses, that is always an option, so it's hard to be completely stuck with something. But in general, I'm not concerned that these cards are just worthless and will /never/ sell, because it is the case that they do sell quite often. I get surprised every day by cards that move, that either I never expected to, or have shown for a long time that they aren't in demand.

Is MassPrice really worth it? You can export your inventory to a spreadsheet and make your own equations to set your price and mass price it yourself? Am I missing something? Is QuickList the same as the tcgplayer app scanner?
@TCGBulkKings
@TCGBulkKings 8 күн бұрын
I think MassPrice and QuickList are worth the extra 2% in fees, for me anyway. I value the automation involved in MassPrice, I can set the price rules and then not have to use mental space to know that I've got my cards priced where I want them relative to the market. And QL is not identical to the app scanner, it works a bit better, and covers more games. Again, to an extent decreases mental load as much as anything else. Also, QuickList Plus is coming sometime soon. These features aren't perfect, by any stretch of the imagination, but they are useable, and at the low end of the market where I hang out, 2% doesn't really feel like a lot. That said, if QL+ is missing a bunch of features I'm looking for, then I will be have to consider my options

No, it's explained by fewer and fewer of the lower condition cards selling. They will sell quickly right after release, but stop selling except in the best condition after the set matures.
