As a star crashed down to Earth after flying over Siberia, Russia would become highly interested in the events that took place. Staging and entire invasion of Afghanistan, they would find exactly what they were looking for. However, upon trying to understand this new found species, it became apparent that something, was mildly wrong. The facility was abandoned shortly after and sealed up with the hopes it would never be found again. The United States would become aware of this facility but could never find it. As an RAF pilot was forced to see refuge within the bunker, she would and her pursuants would kick start an outbreak that needed immediate containment. But what were these creatures exactly? Lets discuss that in todays episode!

As a former paratrooper, I can accurately say you can absolutely get knocked out by hitting the ground, although its not common. You have to realize the speed at which you fall at time of impact is estimated to be equal to jumping out a 2nd/3rd story building. Hitting your head at that speed can cause a KO/concussion.

most people don't realize that a parachute is only there to slow you down just enough to walk away. the fact that parachute technology hasn't really changed since they were invented in the 30's (iirc?) should terrify anyone thinking about jumping out of an airplane that isn't parked. still, the fact that you could die, but probably won't is part of the fun.

There's a thing about not being allowed to 100% accurately portray uniforms in movies. Something about impersonating military personnel.
@stjeep
@stjeep 14 күн бұрын
@@quirkychapHonestly that makes sense. In my opinion, fiction should be obviously fiction. Its like people pestering real actors for playing villain roles, some people are completely unable to separate fiction from reality and believe the actor is a villain in real life. If you hate an actor for their role, it means they acted amazingly and made you hate their character, as intended. On a slightly unrelated note, my mom is terrified of zombies and cannot even play the Plants vs Zombies game. Its so funny to me, the zombies breaking into the house and eating your brain brings her as much terror as if its really happening. Just the thought is scary to her. If we had completely accurate military uniforms in movies, who knows what conspiracies could be made from just a movie. The brain is a powerful thing and we have less power over it than we think. Feelings will come whether we want them to or not. Few people choose to be sad or scared, but it happens...

A brief list of things that can knock out a pilot during the accelerated trip to the ground: 1. The explosive charge going off under your chair. 2. Ever since Top Gear did a bit on the show trying to kill the Hilux; that's when it gained it's invincible monicker. Top Gear drove it into trees, bits of a Victorian city with roads nailed to the ground with rivets and then had it crash, then crashed again by lifting it into the air and dropping it. Oh they also drove it out onto a ramp onto the ocean and had it consumed by the rough seas for a hot minute. Thankfully it didn't get dragged out into the open sea. This didn't stop it from starting and driving off. Then to close this chapter on the car, they put it atop a tower block, (a 14 story building). Which was then demolished. Again the Hilux started and drove on. Hence creating the legend which got quoted in ads back in America.

Regarding the MOAB: The Wiki article says, that it was meant to replace the `Daisy-Cutter´-Bomb, which was used to turn dense jungle into affordable parkingspace for helicopters. It is meant to be used against large massings of troops, caves and even to clear minefields. As of 2007 it is the second largest conventional bomb with 8,5 t of RDX (11 t of TNT), being surpassed by the russian `Father of all bombs´ with a TNT equivalent of 44 t. Also: How do you fall unconcious from a parachutelanding, BUT are completely fine after getting hit by a car?

MOABs have been used primarily to take out tunnel networks in mountain settings, as bunker busters tend to work better on man made bunkers, while Moabs use a surface detonation to propogate large concussion waves through rock to collapse entire cave systems. Its actually more beneficial to target specific critical infrastructure with multiple smaller munitions than it is to completely destroy a base. Much like injuring someone to give them a difficult decision. Like Ryan Mcbeth says "you want to give your opponent dilemmas, not problems."

While over *there* picked up a hilux from a contractor that was heading home. Used it to go from one side of base to the flight line The amount of shrapnel in it was hilarious. No damage ever took it out longer than a few hrs

First Edit: regarding the parachute thing... the only way she would have been knocked unconscious would have been from the ejection. It is a 12g launch when sent from the jet so it is possible that launch could have caused a G-lock event making her unconscious. Also, yes a 1st Lieutenant can fly. She was back seat anyway so she wasnt flying, she was a radar and electronic warfar officer in the jet

Kinda figured that would be the reason she was unconscious, good that it checks out

You are supposed to prepare by placing your back as firmly as possible and squaring shoulders and using pilot breathing which essentially gasping and bearing down almost like going #2 but it's to force blood to the brain. Watch videos of pilots doing high G maneuvers, they do this gasp gulp thing. I have to do it when I get my whole back muscles spasm simultaneously. You would be surprised how much your back muscles help you breath.

You can be a lt to pilot a craft. Normally a first lt once assigned to a squadron. I think as she was In charge of the aircraft they referred to her as captin. In the navy the person in charge of the vessel is referred to as Captin regardless of rank.

As someone who is no weapons expert but someone who's interested in camera and movie equipment: an AK 47 does a through and through wound, but the round becomes unstable in the body by design. To inflict more damage to the body, it hit. So, hiding behind a torso is definitely so much better than tanking the risk of any of those bullets. The chances that the bullet exits the body on the opposing side of the entrance is minimal.

It is incredibly common to get knocked out while jumping. Also, ejecting is such a violent and horrible experience that if you are forced to eject twice, you cant fly anymore due to the damage you sustain. Spinal fractures and passing out just from the ejector seat firing is common.

Hey Roanoke, I think you should look at the HK virus evolved humans from dead island 2. I find their enhanced abillities with the retention of their humanity to be fasinating, and that the HK Virus could be refined to do this in all humans with time. And I am going to keep posting this over and over again till it is done, my guy.

The memory swap being double sided kind of reminds me of MGS1, where Meryl escapes the prison and Psycho Mantis appears. Snake says he thinks he just had a hallucination (one of Mantis' memories), and Naomi believes it's psychometric interference from Mantis, sort of like a mental feedback loop.

40 years isn't actually that suprising, for an old car. They just used to be built different. I remember my dads old car, was a mercedes 190D. He got it, like, way before I was born and had it until I was like 25 or something. Then he had to let go of it due to a lot of rust (he never had a garage so he was forced to always park it outside in his front yard), but engine and everything else was still working fine. Nowadays you're lucky if a car survives like 10 years before needing some serious maintenance that's gonna be more expensive than just buying a new car.

Never saw an FJ60 in Afghanistan. Plenty of 70 series. I was out in Kunar and watched dozens of old diesel Hiluxes haul way too much crap up and down those mountain roads. Ended up moving from a 93 Pickup to an 87 4Runner. Did the solid axle conversion, bastard packs and 35's balanced with airsoft bbs, threw a Spartan locker in the rear diff and let it eat. Dailyed what started as a basket case for two years 500 miles a week on the highway. made it to work one day with a blown head gasket. made it home before any issues appeared. Made it in one time with a snapped tie rod end and only one wheel following the steering wheel. Made it home on a bush-welded repair. Drove it over every rock in New England, caved in a door, bashed it back out, drove it in a river up to the headlights. Yanked a few stumps, snatched more than one hapless Jeep out of the mud. Without a doubt one of the best trucks I've ever owned. So much that I scooped up an 86 Pickup not long after so I could have a wrencher and a driver at the same time. But hey, heres to pointing out that Finch has his name tape on the wrong side of his chest, wears the wrong color undershirt for ACUs, wears a goofy ass oversized rank patch on his arms in lieu of unit patches, is wearing a subdued embroidered US flag facing the wrong way on his right arm instead of an IR patch and an eyepatch would make him non deployable...only thing he's missing from Hollywood Military Bingo is his collar fully velcroed.
