I'm terrible at math but if the rent is $3800 then how is per person $1500? With 3 bedrooms that makes $4500 lol. It's not a terrible place. Has an actual kitchen instead of just along a wall. It seems like these bedroom sizes have become the norm. It does have in-unit laundry which is a definite plus since it's a walk-up. Might actually work better for a family with only 1 bathroom but not bad overall. & the landlord provides the heat & hot water.

1. Instead of a vintage baseboard heater type system accompanied by heating pipes, this apartment could have had a ductless HVAC system instead. 2. a 4-burner stove would have sufficed to give more room for counterspace in the kitchen. 3. One very good thing--the bathroom is nowhere near the kitchen--NO cross-contamination! Yay! 🙂💯👌🤛🤜👏

The company where I work is, at this moment, renovating/restoring a university building of 1901 and it has similar cast iron radiators. Nice to see they’re preserved and still functioning, although I don’t think the tenants will agree. Heating installations with these radiators tend to be very energy consuming.

Heat is usually included in the rent in NYC, and steam heat is provided as a public grid utility like natural gas and electricity in many parts of NYC. The heating systems NYC use tend to be extremely energy efficient.

If the rent is $3800, then 1/3rd of it would be $1266. I MIGHT consider this apartment for that price if it had only ONE bedroom, and only ONE person living in it. BTW ... you didn't say anything about the GMC Motorhome. 1:28 Now THAT'S a collector's item. Made in the mid-1970s. Big V-8 engine from an Oldsmobile Toronado. Got about 7 miles per gallon (on a good day, going downhill, with a tailwind). Perfect for on-street parking in Brooklyn, but THAT you could live in!

Yes I like it. IMHO it would work better as a two bedroom as there is only one bathroom. The smallest room could be a home office. It's not cheap but then it's NYC. Ordinary people are being forced out of NYC because of the extortionate rental charges not because of small apartments! Cash you know better than that.
@sinash

EXACTLY! Landlords are hoarding housing as a means to inflate prices and since they will still get tax advantages for vacant spaces it's a "win-win" for them. There IS a lack of housing in NYC but it's the lack of affordable housing that is causing the problems here.

First, not to take away from the video, kudos for your sponsor on mental well-being: As somebody who has been in ongoing and continual therapy since losing my girlfriend in a freak accident in 2015, I cannot stress the importance of getting help. Now back to the apartment: If it’s 3 people fresh out of college with not a lot of stuff, this small place would be great (although a bit lacking with just a single bathroom to share amongst them). Nice kitchen and floor plan. Small rooms, but if you lived in a dorm when you were in college, they will seem spacious to you. Price per head isn’t bad either. Neighborhood is nice too. I probably still would not rent it myself fresh out of school, but if you’re into sharing a place with only a single bathroom and multiple roomies, I say go for it. Oh yeah, in unit laundry is a plus too (I wasn’t imaging that I saw that was I?).

Compared to the other places you've shown, this isn't bad. 1 bathroom may seem harsh, but when I had a roomate (sharing a 400 sq ft apt.) we had different schedules, so we weren't using the bathroom and kitchen at the same time. I would be coming home from classes/work, as she was leaving. So we each had a chance to have several hours of the day with the whole place to ourselves.

My state just raised to $15 per hour minimm wage and couldnt afford it? Sooner or later there will be no place for minimum wage workers to live. They will all leave NY then no services for the rich. Wow to live there alone, you would be paying $45,600 in rent alone. Yeah, I pay 25% of that for my condo mortgage. Love to visit but I could never afford NYC

lol at the pizza place named not Ray’s. Made me think of the movie Elf. The guy way in the background doing some sort of dance behind you at the one minute mark made me crack up and was so unexpected. That was great 🤣

Do not come to New York to suffer. If I wasn't a native New Yorker, I wouldn't live out here.

I don’t think there is such a thing. All the videos I’ve watched if you want affordable you better be prepared to live in the bathroom. Or a closet!
