Bill and Frank is a happy story. They had the best possible life in the apocalypse and lived 16 years together with the only worry being raiders. Then they went out on their own terms.

What I love about this adaptation is that they make it the same but different at the same time, it's like eating and orange vs drinking an orange juice, both are oranges and contains vitamin C, just in different form. In the game, Bill is a cautionary tale for Joel if he closes himself up from people, he'd become alone and bitter. The show took different path, it's a motivational tale for Joel. The original length of this episode was around 2hrs and the original uncut script has been released for the public to see.

I think this is one of the best episodes of television ever. Nick Offerman and Murray Bartlet were phenomenal

Very nice reaction to an unexpected love story. It does fit in with the theme of The Last of Us. They aged up the Tess and Joel actors appearances to allow for the 20 year time jump, for example Pedro Pascal is actually 10 years younger than the character that he plays and Anna Torv (Tess) is 14 years younger. Both the actors Torv and Barlett are Australian. Pascal is from Chile and the actor who plays Ellie, Bella Ramsey, is British. Nick Offerman (Bill) is the only American in this episode. The episode has been submitted for an Emmy as well as Barlett as a guest actor. Not having played the game I am here for the story and this was beautifully done.

Bill was in the game. He was alive and survived by the time Joel and Ellie had to continue their journey. Frank killed himself because he got to hate the situation... and Bill. They were also together, but Bill never changed the way he was. Joel and Bill found Frank dead. This is the letter that Frank wrote: "Well, Bill, I doubt you'd ever find this note cause you were too scared to ever make it to this part of town. But if for some reason you did, I want you to know I hated your guts. I grew tired of this shitty town and your set-in-your-ways attitude. I wanted more from life than this and you could never get that. And that stupid battery you kept moaning about -- I got it. But I guess you were right. Trying to leave this town will kill me. Still better than spending another day with you. Good Luck, Frank." Because of Bill's reaction to his death, it was clear that he felt something for him.

This was the "happy" episode of the series.
