I have the Prybrid. I originally bought it it to cut drywall and remove nails, it has become my everyday knife.

I bought both of these as soon as they came out. I kept the Prybrid X for myself and gave the utility model to my nephew, who is in the military. I could see Gerber possibly expanding/ modifying these tools in the future. Great review, thanks.

Thanks for the look . Almost half of the comments I've read on videos about these products gripe about the lack of a pocket clip , but in my opinion they are overrated . Pocket clips tend to get in the way of a proper grip . And they snag on things , leading to the loss of the knife . I'd rather reach into the bottom of my pocket knowing my tool is there than to find my knife missing . This has happened to me in the past when in the woods and someting like a vine has robbed me of a knife . An automobile seatbelt has done the same .

Gerber has some great designs and concepts recently, their fit and finish still needs help, but hopefully that catches up.

Not just the fit and finish, the selection of materials should be taken more seriously too as many of their recent designs and custom 'contraptions' don't last long. They are certainly scouting the pocket and multi-tool markets and forums and picking some of the boutique designs smaller shops and individuals come out with, with mixed outcome by Gerber so far. I give them kudos for trying to get the astronomically prices pocket tools down to the accessibility of a regular punter, but in most cases there's a reason behind the $200+ price some people don't have an issue dishing out for those one-off exotic products.

It shouldn’t have to catch up. They have been around for decades. I don’t see how a company as big as Gerber can release products that need to “catch up”. I have had a Gerber of some form or another since I joined the Army and their multi tools are great, why does their other stuff still lack decent quality?

I have one of the small stainless gerber utility knives that I believe I got with another knife at one point. It stays on my desk and I absolutely love it! My go to letter box opener!!!

I'm a painter I use the prybar for paint cans. The blade for plastic, tape, etc. Use the can opener for my brews after work, lol. Got 120 blades for 9 bucks on Amazon.

Eric M I really like it a lot, and have used it many times already. I use it as my truck/house key fob, that way it’s always with me. So far I’ve opened boxes, prayed a small electric motor cover off, tighten a switch cover & a drawer screw. It’s been a really handy little tool. I carry an EDC knife but this has saved blade and blade tip(tightening small screws) on that knife. I’m honestly a little surprised at how often I pull it out for other things than just a “Box opener”. I just added a micro snap swivel to key ring and that way I can attach and detach from paracord loop on tool.👍🏼

They look promising.i have the slidewinder and it worked well until I used with a lot of pressure ,didn't break it but made opening and closing very difficult

I think the X will be good for EDC, while the utility will be better for work. As for the pocket clip, you can always buy a niteize pocket clip and put it on there. Though it would be nice if it came with one. I'm excited to try one or both. Great mod for the EAB is to change out the screw for a bit of a bigger one and it creates a thumb stud for one handed use. The slidewinder is nice, but I kept hitting the button while using it causing it to want to close.

I got the utility blade type fora holiday gift and I just put about a 10" lanyard on it and it is just as fast to deploy as a pocket clip. So far I haven't found any problems and am loving it.

I picked up the prybrid, the day they got released. I really enjoy it so far and I agree that it really needs a pocket clip. I like that fact, that I can still take it with me when i travel, since I can easily remove the blade and leave it at home, or dump it in a sharps container in the airport bathroom. I did replace mine with a titanium coated serrated blade, which I find more useful.

If you want to add a pocket clip to your prybrid, take the belt clip from a broken tape measure then use a small nut & bolt to attach it to the back of the prybrid. If you find the right size nut, it'll fit quite nicely in the plastic scales.

Prybrid has been constantly in my pocket/on belt since purchasing. Did wish it had a pocket clip, but rides well in the kydex belt sheath I made. Gerber has several excellent pocket tools this season. Armbar drive is next on my list

@@Manjiss92 haven’t had any issues, use it for cutting cardboard, leather projects, and EDC stuff. Slider is a bit sticky at times but nothing terrible. Decent tool

Have been using the Utility at work for about a week. Pretty good but the pry bar is about useless as is the nail puller. If it had the front undercut like the smaller one it would work better in cutting tasks too, the thickness of the G10 and the bulk of material surrounding the protruded blade inhibits some cutting tasks.

I put a nite ize hip clip on mine oriented tip up and it not only looks but carries amazing the extra $10 is totally worth it! I went tip up because I placed around with tip down but having the pry bar sticking out of my pocket just wasn't for mw

A lot of scenarios where you use a utility knife a pocket clip can catch on things Bend off the clip or you lose the knife completely. That has happened to a few of my husky pocket knives like the one you showed in this video

If they had fit the big blade into the small black one it would have been perfect. Full size blades dime a dozen vs the exacto blades and the g10 full size one just seems a bit lunky

Great review. Best one out for these. Today mine will be delivered. I ordered the prybrid and it looks promising and the one thing I wanted to know was if I put pressure on the blade it would spring back like the slidewinder as I own that already as well. Thanks

Just got the X - it's a lot of fun. Got a whole bunch of #11 hobby blades and looking forward to finding excuses to use it! It is a little hard to slide the blade in and out, I'm hoping it smooths out with time.

The only knife with a pry bar that I've found that's worth a damn is the Kershaw Barge. That thing saved my butt during a kitchen renovation. I was sad to see that they've discontinued it.

Very cool Aaron 😃. Thanks for sharing. The X looks pretty sweet! I’m curious how many people need a pry bar on a daily basis. When I was a carpenter I had all the pry tools I needed. I’ve never really needed a pry tool in any other job I’ve had. Not saying it wouldn’t be handy. Just wondering. 🤔

I got the Prybrid-X and that blue Outdoor Edge, and I like the Prybrid-X a lot better. The Outdoor Edge plastic felt cheap, as did the spring mechanism and the thing you push wobbled and wasn't comfortable to open. I found a method that works and it will get the job done but I'm probably gonna pick up the large Prybrid and maybe try and add a pocket clip. Shouldn't be too hard

I've been carrying on my keys a Gerber Shard since 2012 for my small pry needs. I also have a Leatherman Squirt PS4 for my small plier needs. My Squirt has come in handy numerous times especially when changing some wiper blades.

I got the eab one like 5 years ago n it stays on my work shorts. I use it a few times everyday n baught the prybar utility like oh extra features n saw no clip n was pissed lol. I got a Keychain prybar i use once or twice a week and it works as a screwdriver and bottle opener. But no clip on the gerber was upsetting. I love the slim low profile on the eab tho

Nite Ize HipClip mobile device pocket clip would be an easy fix add on for the larger of the two models.f I bought one for something else and I love it.

i work at costco so i run through a looooooot of boxes bought the prybrid off of your suggestion. its been working pretty well. id pass on the smaller one as well. i dont like using a shit box knife all the time. ive stabbed myself in the leg. ive carried a few in the tit pocket. i do like to have both because you never know what razor blades will be available im an avid fan of having supplied my own. makes my job easier and i dont have to ask anyone. i hate asking or waiting on supplies. for 10 dollars i can have 100 of each and go to town. sometimes i even buy my own gloves! holy shit right! that being said, id be pissed if i lost my prybrid. i would love a pocket clip. i tit pocket carry mine a lot because i have so many other things in my lower pockets and im on ladders or reaching up higher than i care to. i like that i dont need to take apart a box knife to replace the blade, its lighter and fits in a tit pocket. with a shitty traditional box slip knife you can use either and its easy to carry.

Great review as always. I love Gerber gear, have a bunch of it & I beat the snot out of most of it & have never had a problem. I’m definitely going to grab the larger one. I live in NYC where carrying a toothpick can be considered an illegal weapon so when I carry my blades I’m risking a run in with the Man & a stay in Epstein’s vacant cell. I’m thinking these would be legal considering they’re not really knives & thousands of construction workers & delivery guys carry utility/box cutters..but who knows...it’s NYC & each cop has his own version of the law depending on what day it is. 🤙🏼🇺🇸

Solved it. Found a large metal key ring and attached a piece of paracord with an Englishman's Loop. Now can hang onto my grimlock clip.

Gerber seem to have an aversion to pocket clips on their newest gear. The Armbar is crying out for a clip too. Most of us don’t want blades rattling about with our pocket change.
