Question on security. If you use your fingerprint or face recognition does that not lesson your security? So if someone was to burgle your home, render you dead, unconscious of just point your phone in the direction of your sleeping face or touch the finger sensor they can easily unlock your phone and as you put it, your life. Not to mention now that you've digitized your finger print there's no way to erase it. Like photos shared on the net, someone somewhere has your little paw print.

@@EeBee97 I had Nokia 5.1 with 3GB of ram and it didn't lag a single bit because of RAM. Now I have Nokia 8.1 with 4GB of ram, and this is a lot faster than the 5.1 but that's because of the SD710. My 8.1 with 4gb ram usually uses about 2.2-2.8gb of it's ram so 3GB is more then enough. Phone manufacturing are putting ridiculous amounts of ram in phones just for marketing purposes.

Motorola is already a rebranded garbage Lenovo phone. Can't see why it is that hard to make at least something similar to the OnePlus Nord and advertise it properly. Nokia and maybe also Motorola are brands that can compete even with Samsung. You don't even need to reinvent Android, leave it as it is, add some bonuses to it, a decent OLED screen, and at least a good camera.

I'm actually really sad about LG leaving the smartphone market. I got one of their mid-range phones (LG G7 One) for free with a plan, but it ended up being the best phone I ever had. I was thinking about getting one of LG's premium phones one day when I get a new job or a promotion or something. Even though smartphones are all fairly standard these days, LG phones were the only ones with the exact look and feel I enjoyed using. Not to mention all the cool experimental phones they were making..

Not really been a fan of all the gimmicky crap like the wing , etc , etc , or even annoying curved edge displays still on many android phones that are really nothing more than eye candy with more cons than the Greek islands . I miss the old days where smart phones had convenience features like head phone jacks and SD cards , and dedicated led notification lights , swappable batteries . But to LG`s credit they stuck with the headphone jack for the most part , its just unfortunate they never improved on their support and updates ..... until now they are departing it seems . I remember watching one of the electronic shows a year or two ago , automation , AI and robots where a bit of a theme at the time , other companies showed of their robots that actually did stuff , when LG was showing off their robot , the presenter was trying to upsell all it could do and then he gave it a command to do something , and it just stood there like a statue :) , poor LG , it was a bad look .
@AsellusPrimus
@AsellusPrimus 3 жыл бұрын
@@mikldude9376 I get what you mean, the gimmicks are sometimes a distraction from just making a good phone. I personally hate the "curved edge" displays too. But I still appreciate LG's investment in concept phones, which were pushing the boundaries rather than just trying to fit in. LG is a bit of a strange company, I think they are like a giant underdog because it's a massive corporation yet they are always competing with Samsung and other companies with more brand recognition. They often seem to be doing something to try and get attention. For example, I notice the LG Gram laptop is trying to be noticed for its HUGE (and beautiful) screen compared to other laptops. They try to do something different, which sometimes works and sometimes fails. I think the smartphone market is just too competitive for it in the end.

HMD* isn't capturing anything. Open your eyes and look at what they're doing; their market share gets reduced by every quarter, after that, their marketing is getting poorest, more basic and not eye catching at all. Seems like they don't have money enough to keep sustaining their failed strategy. They're stucked in an eternal mistake-loop. They think somehow repeating their selves will change something, when clearly this is not the case. No matter how you love Nokia, there's literally no argument to defend HMD. They suck.

When HMD started I really liked their designs. I had the Nokia 8, a solid phone. The 7 Plus had a great look and feel with the metal and copper. The naming convention was simple. Now their designs look like any other and their naming is weird. If a tough phone sells Nokia, then make it look tough. Not everyone wants a shiny phone. Use metal, no one else is, be different. If plastic, go for classic Nokia with bright colours. Make it stand out. Many don't buy phones for the updates but how it looks and feels in their hands. About specs, I fully agree, why such low specs, you'd be better off with a Motorola.

@pyalot 3 жыл бұрын
@@jonathanjimson7069 I know that Nokia ran Symbian as their „smartphone“ OS when the iPhone came out. At the time I worked in a company developing mobile phone applications, as a developer. Symbian (on any phone) was just about the worst imaginable experience for both developers and users. Anybody who touched a symbian phone could tell you that right away, it was that bad. When the iPhone came out, and I got a unit to test, I understood right away, Apple just killed the smartphone market as we knew it. Any company that didnt adapt right away would be seeing most of their phone sales collapse. Android came out and the Nexus one. I got a unit to test, it couldnt hold a candle to the iPhone, but it was the right direction. Nokia was still trying to sell Symbian phones. They would continue to try to sell Symbian phones for years, stubbornly refusing to get onto android. Yes, it is Nokias fault. They could have saved their phone empire and jumped into Android as early as possible. Instead they did the exact opposite, stubbornly held on to Symbian as long as possible until their phone empire was completely dead. There is no excuse for incompetence of a magnitude where literally everybody can see what is happening and what needs to be done, but the necessary action is delayed past complete failure.

Watching this on my Nokia 5.4:💀
@JubileeRM
@JubileeRM 3 жыл бұрын
I just saw the notification and clicked. I said yesterday that it's all downhill for Nokia. They've only released crappy phones with the ugly bottom bezels in a market that's flooded with higher quality phones in the same or similar price range. So much for hoping for a premium flagship from Nokia.
@JubileeRM
@JubileeRM 3 жыл бұрын
@Tan Jenner I agree that was the best phone they put on the market. I also wanted one. Is is not true that you haven't been excited by anything else they've put out and that, perhaps, is the reason why you may have not yet upgraded to another phone from Nokia? Just asking.

@Tan Jenner I was going to buy a 7+ in mid-18, but found out they had the original 8 available for 25 € less, so I got that one. I sincerely loved its no-nonsense design but its (camera) software left A LOT to be desired. Recorded audio was severely distorted and unusable unless I was using all mics, so no front/back only and no third-party apps, voice recorders included. EIS was forced in 1080p mode and was awful. There was no 1080p60. Ever. Autofocus hunting was just as bad as EIS. It never got official night mode, only GCam ports. Now I have a OnePlus 7 Pro, which I bought a few weeks after its successor was out. Other than the lack of audio port, forced EIS in 30 fps mode (I shoot 60 fps) and its curved screen (I just want a flat one, TYVM) ... Love it.

I honestly don't think flagships are all that interesting - that's a limited market. A really good medium-cat phone is relevant, though. And I think that Nokia's base concept of is solid: care-free three-year warranty and updates. It's just that the phones themselves need to be a) better and b) more distinguishable in this saturated market.
@danijelujcic8644
@danijelujcic8644 3 жыл бұрын
@@bomcabedal IMHO every brand needs flagships to generate buzz and push innovation. I agree with your point, but it feels so much like Lumia days. Half-done, delayed or cancelled flagships and far too many phones in the 400-600 series. Lack of focus, basically. At least the rumored X50 sounds promising. Upper mid-range phones have gained lots of deserved attention. And Snapdragon 700 series finally has chips worthy of the 700 name (for example, 4 big cores of the same generation as the ones in the 800 series). But those 2-5 MP "complementary" cameras need to DIE. Drop them and make a better main camera instead. If anyone could force that change, it would be HMD. Cheers :-)

@@lotfibenhammou916 yeah but it is said that SD480 is just a bit below SD690 while it should do better in battery life, so that is why I am not against it especially if it would save for better other components which this phones lacks xD so to me the rest of the specs is the problem, not SD480 😁

Reliability and durability my ass. I was so happy with my Nokia 8, up until my AF broke, my screen got a white blotch under reflector (no drops or liquid damage), and eventually suffered from infamous burn-in (retains static ghost-images for a few minutes). And all these years later they still haven't released any flagship phones (not counting a failed N9 Pureview).

After buying Nokia 7.1 I am tired of constant problems with the phone that forces me to go to the service center. Within a week of buying i had to visit the service center twice because the sim tray got stuck. Last August the charging port had to be replaced and now I am facing the same problem once again. A few days ago the battery had to be replaced. The latest issue I am facing is that the sound from the speaker is going off for some period, intermittently.😓😐
