My uncle made it as far as the Ardennes from Normandy with the US 1st Army. A SS division (probably 21st) overran his position after they were recovering from the Hurtgen forest battles. He said you knew when you were up against the SS. They shelled the trees above his position in the forest, shrapnel and splinters coming down from the airbursts above. He and his foxhole mate were the only survivors of his platoon and both were badly wounded, ending their war in an English hospital. He was terrified and freezing and spoke little about it. The odds of getting from Normandy to the end of the war in a combat unit on your feet was very small, I've heard 2-3%.

i just recently started watching your videos. I've always been a huge WW2 history junkie. Your videos are amazing. Im surprised by every video from the stuff you find in these places. Im from the US and you will not find the mass amount of preserved WW2 artifacts in such amazing condition here. Its really cool to see how much stuff is just left untouched.

Sheepshead Bay NY was once home to the world’s largest WWII era United States Maritime Service training station , Probably the person using that US tag was in charge of the supply lines

My mother was an antique dealer. Old vintage bottles and jars can be worth a fortune to collectors. In the 1st half of the 20th century farmers in the USA would dump them on their property. Decades later a lucky finder could stumble upon a gold mine if he knew that fact

wow, that's to bad about that guy not letting you video his collection, from the looks of the stuff you got from him it was high quality and in great shape. my grandfather and great uncle were both in ww2. my uncle was in the European theater,my grandfather in the Pacific, they both brought home tons of battle trophies.uncle even had a 250 lb bomb hanging from the rafters in his garage! they both passed away and I haven't seen the collection since I was a child back in the 1970s.thanks for sharing your finds with us.i lived in Stuttgart in the 70s as a kinder and also remember farms by the acres,i also remember falling into some freshly manured fields when we moved off of the road to let a tractor pass by,lol! I still get nostalgic when I smell fresh

Not sure if anyone else mentioned this already, but the dial you found among the luftwaffe stuff appeared to say Siemens on it. They were large suppliers of good during the war and even had factories in concentration camps such as Auschwitz. It’s amazing when you find something made by a company that still exists today which was a big part of the Axis during WWII. Fascinating really!
