When a family of 6 went missing while camping at the Wells Gray Provincial park, authorities had no clue what had happened to them. That was, until the name David Shearing continued to come up in their investigation.

I’d love to know how “six life sentences” somehow equates to “eligible for parole in more than a decade.” Makes me sick.

Something that always bothers me about prison sentences and parole boards is when they take into account "good behaviour". Like of course this murderer has had good behaviour while supervised and surrounded by other men. Put then out where they have the opportunity to offend and they often will.
@VikingsRazor
@VikingsRazor 10 ай бұрын
Sarah, you're absolutely correct. I believe that every single person who is involved in the parole of any convicted person, should be fully responsible, receive and have to serve the same sentence when the parolee reoffends. Even if the parole board, judges, DA, etc had to serve even a portion of the sentence that the reoffending person did, there would be a whole lot less parolees. Qualified immunity should not apply to anyone turning out convicts into society.

Thank you for the tragic and appalling murders , as a registered nurse I have looked after so many of these babies and children i.e. a 2 year baby girl raped by her 18year old babysitter, the only way to save her life was a total hysterectomy. The offender went to prison, when released he reoffend. Personally I don't believe paedophile can be rehabilitated. Thank you for sharing this evil and horrific story.

Those poor babies. 🥺Can't begin to imagine the nightmare they went through. As for Heather, marrying that monster. What type of woman does that? People do strange things out here
@Tsumami__
@Tsumami__ 11 ай бұрын
That’s hybristophilia. It’s not restricted to women. Any gender can experience it. Watching the Taylor Schabusiness trial is a great example, the chat has been filled with strange men who seem to possibly have that disorder that are only in the trial live chat to express their love for her. She beheaded her friend/lover during sex, it wasn’t even a jealousy motivated killing, she just murdered him for no reason. And yet there are about a dozen or so men I’ve seen professing their undying love for her. And they’re not joking, either. It’s partially because they’re attracted to the violent nature of the individuals, it’s not just psychologically thrilling to them but appeals to that off part of human psychology that is so focused on dominance. Part of it is that the individual that’s incarcerated is locked up and unable to do things like cheat, go out, party, things like that. They maintain full control in the relationship, despite it being with someone who is abusive and often more physically powerful than they are themselves, regardless of the gender of either party. I think a lot of the reasons behind the disorder are rooted in primal dominance and control, which is interesting considering so much of what motivates a serial killer, a rapist, or often murderers that don’t have specific “signatures” like serial killers do, is also based in control and dominance.

I live in West Kelowna where we have a pool named after them, Johnson Bentley. I clicked on this video without realizing (until a little ways through) the coincidence of the two last names matching the pool's. I never knew about this story and it's heartbreaking to hear that this is the backstory for the pool's name. It feels very real hearing about a case like this when you've been loosely connected to it your whole life. So tragic. My heart goes out to everyone involved.

This story reminds me a lot of the Greone family murders. Thankfully in that case, the public and LE were aware of the parents murders and knew Shasta and her brother were missing, so when that filth bag brought her into that Denny’s with him the employees knew it was her and blocked those exits off and called the cops. The fact that they were smart and quietly blocked the exits and didn’t let him know they recognized Shasta and knew it was them, I’m still so impressed by. Those people were truly amazing. I’ve thought many times about what I would do in a scenario like that, recognizing a missing child out in public that was being held by a kidnapper, and I’m such a confrontational person I worry I would make the wrong choice. I think that is the best way to approach a situation like that. They saved her. Also, I just read that Duncan (the filth bag that kidnapped the Greone children) died in prison horribly of brain cancer in 2021. I am so glad. I hope Shasta finds a measure of peace now that he is gone from this earth. It’s sickening and unfortunate these two girls weren’t as…I don’t want to say lucky, but… that they didn’t survive this piece of garbage. RIP Janet and Karen

The fact that an entire family was wiped out is pretty devastating honestly, and those poor kids didn’t have a chance…and it was supposed to have been a time of fun for all, and then this guy had to ruin their lives like that…and the fact is is that the Canadian justice system is super effed up is just…who knows what this guy could do once he was/is released. RIP Edith Bentley, George Bentley, Jackie Johnson, Bob Johnson, Janet Johnson, and Karen Johnson.

My wife grew up in the Vavenby/ Clearwater area and, although she wasn’t born until 1988, I believe this particular crime affected her parents to a degree that it had a profoundly negative impact on her life until she left their home at the age of 16.

Until the system actually creates space for rehabilitation, parole should not even be a thing - at all.
@kandik7641
@kandik7641 11 ай бұрын
Yes it should. For 2 reasons. Someone with no hope at all becomes an even more dangerous person then the one they started out as. The other reason is, how many times has a rapist or killer gone free without the victim or their family knowing until they see the perpetrator in a car beside them in traffic or in the grocery store. Every 5 years having tabs on someone is a good thing. Parole doesn't mean anything.

@@kandik7641but they’re walking free to begin with because they were paroled from prison. This is why there should be mandatory minimum sentencing laws for aggravated violent crimes, serious sexual offenses and frankly all sexual offenses that involve direct contact against minors.
@LadyAstarionAncunin
@LadyAstarionAncunin 11 ай бұрын
@@kandik7641???? Unless they did a prison break, you're talking about someone who was paroled, and what the person is saying is that prisoners shouldn't be released until they get rehabilitation. I can't remember what country it is (Switzerland or Sweden, something), but that country has a low rate of recidivism because they actually focus on rehabilitation. What you're saying doesn't make sense, but it seems like you didn't understand what they said.
@LadyAstarionAncunin

@@Tsumami__ They should at least do that. But I feel more strongly. Offenses involving minors in particular should result in a life sentence or execution. Science has proven that these kinds of predators NEVER stop. So, children will be in danger for as long as they live, and even if they can't get their hands on kids directly, they're responsible for keeping child s/xual abuse images a booming business, meaning children will be abused by proxy anyway. If they started executing these predators the same day they're sentenced (when it's obvious they're guilty to eliminate any mistakes), maybe we could finally get somewhere. Their brain is not set up to where they pose society any value. And, what's equally as bad is that they create NEW predators.

Always take a weapon and a dog if you've got one when camping, in Australia i camped around WA for a few months, slept with a knife under my pillow a dog in the car and camped inside a Toyota Hilux Surf, no one can sneak up on you, you can hear anything coming for miles at night but vehicles will rock up on you though. Blinding torch light at night is your friend as well.

If you're not in a county that allows g/uns, then you need to take at least 2 dogs, and ones with a protective instinct and/or are strong, like a German Shepard, Cane Corso, etc. If you're in the States, take a g/un _and_ a protective dog.

20:29 there will ALWAYS be a woman that is willing to be with a criminal. Regardless of their crimes- pedophiles, rapists, murderers, etc., there will ALWAYS be at least 1 woman out there that is willing to ignore their crimes & be with them. It’s almost like some women are attracted to criminals. The more brutal the crimes, the more women are interested. I read through Chris Watts’ “fan mail” in his discovery files & it was disgusting. “I know you would never murder your kids….””I would like to get to know you ❤️ ”…🤯😤🤬
