We lose a lot of beginner skaters because this information is either hard to find or brands and even some shops straight out hide it to just mindlessly sell their inventory quick. I went through 4 pairs of skates before I discovered how a perfect fitting skate feels like, not everyone has that kind of patience.

@@ThisissoulI work in a roller skate store in Russia. And God, how difficult it is to explain all this to everyone. For each of the facts in the video, I came by myself, and it was long, hard and expensive. But the worst thing is when pro riders come. Everything in this video is spot on. Using an extra or different insole fixes 90% of my fit issues (that's after buying the best fitting shell in the first place of course). Thanks for providing the spreadsheet. I think it was missing a lot of new models the last time I used it, but for a 27cm foot there was only really one option with a 280mm internal length (M12). Yeah, I just did the experiment about trying on the hard boot without liner. I got lots of space in length, but the hard boot alone fits my width with hardly any clearance. I guess I just need to keep the cuffs tight to deal with the front space.

Same, I have some UFR skates that are just incredibly narrow and unwearable with the stock chunky liners on my feet. I bought some slimmer Myfit liners that helped some, but the shell is still too narrow and I just get hot spots and blisters. So I took my heat gun to them and stretched the crap out of the toe box and that seems to be my best effort thus far. Sometimes I feel like people have tiny Barbie feet to fit in skates.

My left foot was usually fine, but I could never get my right foot tight enough. After checking without the liner it was clear my boots are actually too big. However, I put the soles of my running shoes in, tightened the laces a bit and now they fit really well now. Huge difference. Does not feel lose at all anymore and it skates much better, I can get them as tight as I want now.

I'm somewhat a beginner skater. Made a mistake on my first pair of skates buying upsized. My normal shoe size is 41 and the shell is for 43/44. The only reason at first I felt it was ok was that the liner was thick and it fits comfortably, which I realized after a few skating sessions that its too big and felt like I'm skating in "clown shoes". Now on my second pair of skates, I bought a size 41/42 skates. Now even though it's better, without the liner it's got 2 fingers space. I feel like I should downsize.. Maybe for my next pair of skates.

I have super super wide flat feet. I ended up being recommended some pretty big FR1 skates to get the larger shell. I think it is actually FRs largest shell so I would have the smallest liner in the largest shell. I have the stock FR1 liners and orthotic insoles from my snowboard boots that were custom made. In the end I still had issues with the width and heat gunned the crap out of my arch and outside edge of my boot to help with this. Now as I am skating better and more I do not have much foot pain but I am getting some heel lift. Other than adding some boomerangs on the heel area is there anything to do to take up some room between boot and liner? Are there thick AF intuition type liners that I could mold into the correct fit?

Will the arch assist of a superfeet insole essentially shorten my feet marginally inside the skate? Higher arch but shorter overal length of ‘relaxed’ foot? I am asking because my feet at relatively flat and I could do with a couple of mm less length for more comfort. I have faction tactical size 46 (305 mm inside shell length with the US size 12 stock liner)… I love the width of the liner and puffiness at the top… Tried my Iqon prime liners and with those my toe no longer touches the front but the liner is too thin to fill the width of the skate and lock me in… Hence I would love to use an insole with a higher arch support to dial in the setup to perfection (if it works the way I envision)… what do you think? Will it work? I am also thinking the higher resulting arch on the top of my foot will make it easier for the laces to push my foot further back into the shell when properly tightened. Edit: just watched the rest of the video and you actually explain it works the way I hoped ^^

I aways felt the skate was way too heavy, now I know the reason. We may have inspired this video or maybe this was in the pipeline already (myself and girlfriend got the chance to be in amsterdam over the weekend 😄and got the chance to try on skates for the girlfriend; next pair will definitely be gotten from thisissoul!) For the 8:11 part of the video, for any other wide footed people as a wide feet anomaly (roughly ~245x105mm flippers for reference): You can't beat going into the shop but from personal experience and reddit browsing; I think the Rollerblade RB for freeskate and Roces 5th elements for aggressive are probably one of the best wide feet choices My only personal regret would be following the mondopoint too closely; currently I'm using an EU40/UK6 5th Element Shell with a RL2 medium liner for a pretty good fit. When the Aeon V2 comes out hopefully next year I might be able to justify another pair and try the EU42 shell (EU40 even with a second skin liner was slighly too cramped but useable)

The insight about avoiding smaller stock liners in dual sized shells has been really helpful! I have been comparing size 39 and 40 liners in the FR Neo 2 39-40 and can barely see or feel a difference between them, now I understand why. The question I'm pondering now is whether the 39-40 shell will be the right size when I eventually put an intuition liner in it in the future. FR haven't released their Neo 1 Intuition sizing yet, curious to see which shell they pair with which liner size.

Interestingly, my measured foot size is 24cm and the 39-40 shell (suitable for 24-24.5cm measured foot according to FR) is a very comfortable fit with the brand new stock liner, maybe a bit more wiggle at the calf than I would like. But, am aware they will loosen more and there's a bit over the 1 and a half fingers at the heel you mention in the shell with no liner. I'd say about 1cm width and 2cm length of space around my foot without liner. Which makes me think I could probably downsize with a thinner (intuition) liner. Smaller FR Neo 2 and the Neo 1 Intuition due at the end of the month. What does this all mean? I think your video is absolutely spot on for my case. It begs the question as to whether shells and liners should be sold separately?
@CarwynEdwards
@CarwynEdwards 2 ай бұрын
@@AreyaEtoli I think the stock liners would be too tight for me in the 36-38 as I struggled to get into the 39-40. The 39 liner is a perfect fit out of the box, but have no idea if it would squeeze into the 36-38 shell. I have wider feet so the width feels nice, this is the main thing I'm worried about in the smaller shell. Toe box has lots of room and at least with liner the instep is very supported. LocoSkates in the UK did a video that shows being able to downsize when using an intuition liner, hence I'm very tempted to wait for the Neo 1 and see what the official sizing says from FR. Weight wise I was surprised how heavy they are. The base of the dual shell is rock solid, while the upper is very flexible, like this a lot. I suspect it's the cast frame on the Neo 2's, again the Neo 1 switches to extruded which I suspect will help. I was planning to upgrade to intuition later not from the start, but I suspect the shell size I would need will be different. A real pain this sizing lark as the closest physical shop to me that stocks decent skates is over 4 hours away.
@CarwynEdwards
@CarwynEdwards 2 ай бұрын
@@AreyaEtoli I thought they would feel heavy when I picked them up, but on the feet they are fine. Solid and planted feel at the base. I think what I'm feeling is mainly the usual issue with stock liners being too squishy (my current skates have harder than usual foam). The Neo Dual boot itself is stunning.

I have a question for FR iGors. When I wanted some premium slalom skate like the HC Evo Pros I ordered them in EU46 (which have a 296 mondopoint suggestions). I touched the toebox with my 2nd toe where it really hurt so I returned them. That's why I ordered the iGors in EU47 (suggested MP is 30). My feet measured 303mm with MyFit socks (since I skate in them). But after a while and my slalom skills advanced a bit aswell the skate feels a bit too loose. Looking at FR size chart for the iGors the EU47 is for 30,5cm measured feet, and EU46 for 30cm measured feet that suggests a MP of 29.5. Did I make the right choice with EU47 though? I did my reasoning due to MP 29.6 for PS HC Evo Pros being too short. I did counter some wobbling or loose feel by using waxed laces. I would try them in EU46 but ordering them just to return them either way to time wasting (climate unfriendly aswell). There is no shop at all for not only such high-end models for mid-levels aswell. Only shop is Decathlon.

It will be too small in my personal experience. My feet are 250/255mm and width like 103mm and size 40 was too small for me.

I have the same foot length 264mm and i assure you shell size 40 is not the right size for you. Do not buy size 40, they are 100% too short!

What would you do in case of overweight skaters? That the cuff in many can’t close Tbh I’ll have a bigger cuff installed but Frx a nice tight fit in 42 besides the back of the cuff the upper part, that’s not tight that kinda hurts without trying to lace it up with anything But those have fat fat liners. Then there is rollerblade lightning that new one. Without tightening anything it’s like a good fit,doesn’t hurt, like if you stuck your foot in a pillow, also size 42 The thing is, changing the thing to clasp the cuff will kill my warranty outright, while frx is only a change of the plastic 😅 Hard choices 😮

1) Install longer buckles 2) drill one new hole in the cuff and move the buckle forward 1.5cm 3) go to Amsterdam for a proper fitting when you want to have something that works for you 4) Most likely a V-cut will work best for your calf. you can also cut it yourself 5) loose weight

But how tight is too tight? If I am getting pain then it's probably too tight? I have some extra length but the width is a bit tight. Sometimes my toes and ankle feel compressed. I get cramped pain on my big toe and pinky toe. I usually wear my skates somewhat loose for this reason. If I try to buckle up tight my ankle feels really tight or compressed. I intentionally bought a wider fitting skate because I knew I have wide feet. But it doesn't seem to be wide enough. One day I thought are skates not meant to be buckled up tight. So I tried doing so instead of wearing them as loose as I normally do. My legs and ankles around the buckles were sore for more than a week. I maybe tightened the buckles too much and didn't tighten the laces enough. Regardless thank you for the information! It really helped me better understand how skates fit. And hopefully from now on I can have a good fitted skate.

Glad we could help! Pain is for sure the liner you should not cross.

The real question is how do you shove your hand in the boot while wearing to check if it’s finger width. Things too tight to get down there. Use a pen of similar width maybe?

got the fr1 size 45 today My foot Length: 28cm Width: 11cm the skates are too big (1cm from toe to inliner and at least 1,5 cm from inliner to shell). i ordered today size 44. keep you updated #1 update so i got the fr1 in size 44 - in my opionion there are still way too big like thisissoul said. I can fit 2 fingers with my feet in the shell and also when i try the skates with the liners i still got something around 1,5 cm place. Personally i dont think it's that bad for now but when the skates brake in it will be eventually too big. So i orded now the fr1 in sizes 42 and hopefully this will be the right sizes. eventually i will make a video of all 3 skates for u guys 2# so i got the fr in size 42 and it's just like in the video. my toes are touching the the front of the inliner and they are pretty tight. Unfortunately so tight that it kinda hurts my front toes because i have no space and feets are going numb. but i think they are right ones. between the inliner and shell i have at least 1 cm.

How are they wearing in for you? Did you get the intuition liner or the normal? My foot has the same dimensions as yours and just ordered the 43, might be a bit big :/

Foot length of 28cm in a 42, seems to be to small for me. I guess it should be a 43, not? I am around 26.7cm and the 42 with the original Seba FR1 lines feels to tight for me. i am still experimenting with different liners

@@olafolinger2711 No it isnt i have enough spave between liner and shell. but im struggling to find the perfect liner or something to minimize my foot length in the liner (arch support or superfeet insoles from his shop (still have to decide)) i even could go sizes 39/40 when there is enough space for my foot width (but i cant say because i haven't tested them) With 26,7 cm foot length i would go size 40...i mean you watched the video right. Take your liner out and look how much space you have between foot and shell. If you can put 2 finger easily in the shell, its way too big. Notices also (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gtZyhbd2p82yo4k.html&ab_channel=Thisissoul) that soul is saying at 3:50 in this video that skating sizing is super subjective because 2 people with same foot length can skate complety different skates.

I almost give up on inline skates. I think I wanna switch to skateboard. After a YEAR with no progress at all. I work at the restaurant 6 days a week day to night so I only have 1 day a week to practice inline skating. At first I taught it was my posture and strength. Maybe it is. Tons of video I watched on yt all about posture. I never taught it was my skates size. A lot of people (on the internet) recommend to buy skates one size up my normal shoes and I do that. I never find this video until today. Year after no progression. When you talk about firm handshake mine didnt feel like it. More like a lose handshake on the front. I never take out the liners out my skates because there's no use for me. Today my first time I take it out and try it without the liner and my god that's way too big! It's like the one on your thumbnail. I never blame my skates before because I taught it's normally feel like that. Others practice inline skating for only two weeks and skates like a pro on week 3 while im still like a baby even after 1 full year! Rn I'm tryna sell my current skates for cheap and get one suitable for my size.

I don't get it he says superfeet insoles add to length I. One section of vide and in another it substracts from it🤷‍♂️ the way I see it math would suggest that it would add to length since you add to Haight. Can someone elaborate?
@Thisissoul

it shortends the foot and makes it higher as wel 1) if your skate is too big at the top, it helps to fill up the space at the top 2) if your skate is too short in the front, it helps by shortening the foot

Please please please tell the brands to also do width sizing. It's really awful how none of the brands put out their width and ankle volume measurements.

We are always pushing the brands to be better in those regards. However, even if all the brand would do it then it would also a matter of how good you can compare these numbers.

More pressure on the top of your foot will relieve pressure from your ties. -Tighten the laces more -bend your ankle more. put your knee over toe -close your buckle(s) better
