MITO is when Ian is in his bipolar lows and the Insanity clown god is his highs. At first when Ian debuted he began the MITO story line that has 2 of 3 released which is his debut album Mood Swings In This Order and second album Mood Swings Into Order. This dive into insanity is a vital backstory of what his manic highs are like and leads to why and how MITO came to be. From peanut butter and tears up until don't go insane; these all represent when he switches from manic highs to lows .As we see in don't go insane he already has gone insane and goes into so i danced and begins the chaos of trying to steal the key to the door and carelessly go about his plans which represents how Ian acts when he has those spurts of confidence and when he makes dangerously impulsive decisions in his highs. Which is then disrupted by MITO ;his depression later on when him an insanity go on that whole car chase out of emerald city to the door. The doors in this one and peanut butter and tears are meant to represent different parts of Ians mind that can only be unlocked when dreaming, hence why dear insanity is a letter from MITO telling insanity of the severity of his travels into this part of the mind. Which also delves into The reason to why in one of those comments on the stream that said that MITO is a protector, its because Ian said that Insanity is what brings upon the bi polar switch into MITO as shown in the whole so i danced video. His debut song ' So Beautiful' highlights the essence of the guardian- like beauty of MITO as his role in Ians mind is to save him from insanity by unleashing himself; the depression low bipolar state to control Ian's mind instead, which paradoxically is grounding Ian from the control insanity has in his impulsive actions that don't help Ian at all when dealing with tribulations and traumas of life unlike MITO who whilst scary and dark is still there to help express his deep emotions from traumas and tribulations. Hence, why MITO and Insanity are always fighting and why in the MITO movie Insanity is seen in its initial scenes in the song SERAPH banishing MITO for interfering in Ians mind as this antihero, when Insanity was the one who created him in the first place. This guardian angel role that MITO takes is also further explored in the MITO movie which intricately shows Ians transformation into MITO and shows the beginning of the conflict between MITO and Insanity for ultimate control of Ians mind which is all also here in the dear insanity album songs and videos. The MITO story line still has a 3rd part yet to be released as of yet. Sorry thats as much as i could put without making more questions than answers.

I wanted to let you know that in "Peanut Butter and Tears," you were wondering why DPR IAN decided to use the words "peanut butter" with tears. This is because peanut butter is more of a sweet and comforting food, and DPR IAN used it to show that the sadness from the tears will be comforted. When he sings "My peanut butter and your tears," he means that when you cry, he will be there to comfort you and make you feel better. Maybe as a child he felt like peanut butter was a calming and comfortable feeling food, like in a PB&J. So that means that when he cries, he remembers what it feels like in the good parts of his childhood.

The story is very deep and it connects his whole discography. There are lines in his first album that are related to characters that we just now met. Basically the different characters are based in Ian's personalities. Mr. Insanity (the clown) is the god of this world. He represents the mania and is very extreme. Mito (the one in black and white), represents his lows. He was Mr. insanity First creation, but he got jealous and become an archangel that wants to destroy Mr. Insanity's creations. But at the same time Ian called Mito his protector. When Mr. insanity is getting too crazy, he stops him. I think that's why in Don't go Insane you can see black smoke coming out of Mr. Insanity. That's Mito trying to take control because he's getting too crazy/dangerous for Ian. This world is named The Other Side. Is kinda like a dream land, but the longer you stay there, the crazier you get. You will hear this name in lot of his songs. The city in The Other Side is Emerald City, which indeed is a Wizard of Oz reference. The doors. He stated that he has memories locked in doors inside him and one of those doors is the one that holds the memory that was the trigger for his Bipolar. Which he doesn't remember. And that's what they are searching for. The Green is Insanity side-kick. We don't know much yet. But we have heard him in previous songs. As I said his universe it's getting bigger and bigger and there are soooo many connections between all his works. He did a Listening Party in Stationhead and an IG Live where he explained a little bit further the lore this time. I totally suggest you to check one of them. He's a pretty interesting guy and a very good story teller, so listening to him is really pleasant. I only discovered this vid because I listen to Ian. So, MITO is Ian's protector. Whenever Ian has a manic episode and becomes Mr. Insanity MITO tries to take control hence why he blacks out. To stop the mania Ian's mind goes into MITO and as a protection mechanism he cannot remember anything. He does a lot of lives on instagram so you can always listen to him telling his story. Also MITO is portrayed as a dark character durin Dear Insanity because it is Mr Insanity's perception, a negative perception, as someone who is trying to stop him.

I feel like you would appreciate MITO the movie pt 1. This album is such a masterpiece. DPR IAN is such a genius when it comes to the mv's , I guess he started out doing video work before getting into music himself. Begging you to check out the whole thing there's a number of mv's and visualizers for the whole album, "dear insanity" is actually the first line of the album.

Mito is a trilogy( his low state) and dear insanity which is represented through mr. Insanity ( his high state) is actually a side story of the trilogy. So it will be another album of Mito.

If you decide that you want to go on a journey and an entire experience for an analysis for an album, DPR live the any is anybody out there? Album is probably one of my most favorite albums of all time, and to this day from start to finish the feelings are everywhere. It puts me in a roller coaster ride of emotions. From the very first song, “here goes nothing” to the very last song “no rescue needed”. It is an experience and a journey of someone being completely lost to not needing to be found. In fact, I have a medical condition that can make pregnancy dangerous, and Geronimo. That song is the reason that I had my third kid and I made that jump. To this day that will always have a very important special place in my heart, and so will the song welcome to the other side by DPR. That song got me through some really tough stuff when my son was born. You’re definitely on the right path. These guys are amazing and if you need it, their music can definitely get you through some hard stuff.

I will probably say some thing that you already know but yeah bear with me lmao Also, if I ever say something that is not true I hope people correct me cuz I ofc don’t know everything and I ofc could have understood things wrong, so PLS correct me if I'm wrong about anything or if I forget to mention anything important. Dpr Ian has bi polar disorder and DID and he portrays it in his music videos and songs! He has created so far 2 characters: MITO and Mr. Insanity! MITO represents his lows, his dark moments and all his dark memories. You can recognize him by how dark and mysterious he is (he also doesn't have one eye). As dark as MITO is Christian describes him as the protector of his mind. MITO basically tries to protect Christian from his bad memories and from harming himself. MITO is the main topic of Dpr Ian first 2 albums ( "Moodswings in this Order" and "Moodswings into Order"). You will also see him in all his music videos Mr. Insanity basically represents Christian's manic highs. You will recognize him very easily because he's very colorful and bright. He basically displays Christians impulsive decisions, he's very unapologetic of his actions and doesn't think about how it will affect Ian. This is also why Ian himself said that although MITO is a lot darker and looks a lot more scary, Mr. Insanity is actually a lot more dangerous. Mr. Insanity is introduced for the first time in his song "Mr. Insanity" in his album "Moodswings into Order" but we see him in a music video for the first time in Peanut Butter & Tears (and then also in "So I danced" and “Don’t go insane”) The Green is the guy in green lmao, we don't know much about him yet (We've only see him in his last 2 music videos, the ones you just watched) From what we've seen so far Mr Green looks like someone who helps Ian out but at the same time goes along with the chaos. We really don't know yet.

I'm so excited for you to be diving into Ian's world. I'm still fairly new to all his music, but it's so brilliant and I'm so happy he's not afraid to speak his truth. Can't wait for you to dive into the MITO album and film.

DPR Ian's albums are ones I listen to in the order they are given because each one takes you on a specific journey. If you listen to all the albums in a row it's just a beautiful story to listen to. MITO was the caracter Ian first introduced in 'So Beautiful', as he describes his depressive state, depersonalization and black outs. MITO has since then became a comfortable character for him because a new character has been born, in his worst, most low state of depression (he is not confident enough to show him yet). Mr. Insanity is his character during the manic phases, the three music videos that he released with this album are in reverse order: 1st is 'Don't go insane', then 'So I danced' and the last is 'Peanut butter and tears', where Ian opens the door (that Mr. Insanity opened with the key) and in that video he shows his manic phases as something that has always happened and are connected with the depressive episodes and different states in between. The three videos show how the bipolar disorder works for him, with the various caracters fighting for the spotlight and how he is just in the middle of everything, trying to have control over his life. The Green is us, Dreamers, his fans, helping him, and the pink dudes are society.

Mr. insanity is Ian on his highs, the episodes where he feels like a "god" and is reckless. MITO is his protector, Ian has called him as such. MITO is when he's at his lowest. MITO tries to stop Mr. insanity from causing harm to other and Ian himself.

The green as a symbolic supporting character is as you said, the uncredited background character "we" can't see. Mr insanity in white is Ian's other side. Mito (dark) is the dominant, and suppresses all other alter egos. This is symbolic by the keys which we can assume unlock access to Ian's current personality at any given time/day. It's a struggle for control. Mito hunts down and suppresses all other alter egos to remain in control. In the beginning, Mito (dark) is writing a letter to Mr insanity (white), as he feels he's about to change persona's and lose dominance. Hence, the letter Dear Mr. Insanity... Mito has suppressed this side of him for a long time, but is again coming to fruition. Mito does not like this, and it becomes a tug of war to regain control and be the 'dominant'. Mr. Insanity is reminiscing of when he was the dominant, and how he was shunned and exiled (buried). This is probably symbolic to an earlier age in his life. Mr. Insanity coming back to life only to be burned at the stake by the others (pinks/red), is also symbolic. The green, the invisible to us hero saved him. And now, he's running and seeking a way to become the current personality of Ian. Hence, the heist for the keys and Mito hunting him down to prevent this. This is just an observation form the outside. He's done several IG lives that go deep into the lore. So this assumption may be wrong is jjust from what I've gathered as a normal spectator.

Maybe. 😅 (Getting my thoughts out before finishing the rest of this reaction btw…) Ian hopes they will let them borrow the car, and The Green hopes someone will love them. The most basic understanding here would be that Ian has an immediate concern and The Green has a concern about the future. (And/or whether Ian will love them.) Side note: This had me recalling “the grass is greener on the other side.” Ian makes references to “the other side” a lot. Purposeful? Coincidence? 🤷‍♀️ “So I Danced” also references current complications and generally strange events. Otherwise, I’m not too certain what is occurring. After all, dancing can represent a couple different things. For one, following a sequence of steps could mean staying on track or following instruction. On the other hand, he could be very openly expressing himself (i.e., “how I really feel”), whether manic or not, possibly. Maybe it’s all of the above? There may not be much more for us to understand. As you said on the previous Ian reaction, Roscoe- he represents and works through his personal experiences through the art he creates. Therefore, it’s arguably not necessary that we comprehend every last bit of it. [And as a big David Lynch fan, I’m cool with some leftover mystery.]

I would absoluetly love if you checked out his albums there are only 3 and they are not that long but tell soooo much of the story lyric wise and music wise. at least from my understanding of all the MVs and songs. I may have gotten somethings wrong and i apologize pls correct anything. this again is how i’ve understood his albums and the story he’s telling - Mood Swings In This Order, 1st album, is the sinking and fear of going into that depressive state (manic low). Mito (personification of his lows) coming forward and taking over. - 2nd album, Moodswings In To Order, (arguably the best album ever) is very heavily Mito in control but with a slight shift towards the end with the manic lows ending but manic highs (Mr. Insanity) coming. Mr. Insanity being first mentioned near the end of the album. the visuals of the MITO film are highly needed in understanding this album to its fullest ! - lastest album, Dear Insanity…, is the being of chaos at the wheel. Mr. Insanity being the manic highs, is the most chaos driven and impulsive identity. He does whatever. Which is why i’m So I Danced, you see him being reckless in terms of driving, stealing, shooting.. Mr. Insanity does not care what happens and is truly just that, insane and chaos. he is manic high. Mito despite the live comments, Mito being the manic lows, depressive identity, though darker, he is the identity that truly does protect Ian the most. Which is why you see him chasing and trying to stop Mr.Insanity from reeking chaos. He maybe be darker but he is the “protector” of Ian as opposed to the other identity. (fun thing, Mr. Insanity’s look is very clown like as a tribute to Ian’s previous kpop group C-Clown that he was in prior to starting DPR)

He has a "Memories in Disorder documentary" about the process behind creating characters and recording the album, which is a really helpful video and fairly quick to watch. - Second album (MIITO aka Mood Swings In To Order) just has one video! It's a montage short film and has a ridiculously long title, but it's the one that's just under 8 minutes long and has an orange-ish thumbnail. A LITTLE LORE INFO DUMP! Feel free to ignore if the block of text is just Too Much, but I think it might be helpful! CHARACTERS: - Mito = representation of depression, a fallen angel, the rebellious creation of a clown god. Easily recognized by one blind eye and black smoke. In "No Blueberries," Ian summons him by lighting a flame to help fight the Blueberry Monster. - Mr. Insanity = representation of mania, pretty sure he's the clown god mentioned in my last point ^^^, represented by butterflies & fireflies & pink/bright colors (to contrast with Mito) - The Green = He's from The Other Side, which is the place that Mito and Mr. Insanity come from. Buddies with Mr. Insanity, but I don't think we know much more other than that because he's fairly new! - Ian = "the default" in DPR IAN's words, a human from our world who gets tied up in all the nonsense from The Other Side. There's a lot that's left up to our interpretation as of right now, which is fun. - Scaredy Cat = a representation of anxiety, often trapped somewhere...we need a bit more info on him because he's only in a couple videos (Scaredy Cat, Don't Go Insane, and maybe the MIITO short film). I personally conflated him with Ian for a long time, but it seems like he might be a separate character.
