Yeh. It's me over there at minute 11:08 to 12:40, behind the PA, :) Great day, and honored by Thomas using my band's t-shirt during the show at night!! Yeh!! Good drummer, good person. Rock on master Lang!!

Why do people say Thomas has no "feel"? He plays for the music. He is a very, very good drummer. Solid as anything. I don't get it.
@InTimeWithTheBeat4 жыл бұрын
That's something people who aren't that technical say because he's good 🤷
@minisurfbanana4 жыл бұрын
They thing anyone who plays fast has no feel...I play guitar too and they say this about Yngwie Paul and a lot of shredders!
@toddlavigne64413 жыл бұрын
I've heard him play very simple heavy rock and he's got feel, tons of it. World's best drummer IMO
@alvarocordova3664 Жыл бұрын
I have great respect for his technical skills. probable second to none. But by the same token l feel he puts to much time in that matter. Drummers like Mitchell, Ginger Baker , Bonzo in rock or jazz cats like Elvin, Tony ,Art,Max and Buddy are just better musical performers and they play for the song Another thing that I see is the sound of their drum kits is more melodic

I LOVE that PG loves himself some Elton John. He's said that he loves all that old 70's pop music, Beatles, Motown... Same stuff I cut my teeth on. No wonder he seems so cool. Grey Seal was one of my top favorite songs when I was a kid.
@gr8guitarplayer4 жыл бұрын
Dammit! I couldn't get any of my (too old) friends to go with me when I heard PG was coming to Rams Head (grew up in Annapolis, half hour from where I live on the eastern shore), but if I knew Thomas Lang was on tour with him, I'd have gone by myself!

LOVE the whammy bar for the entire PA! I designed a GRAND PIANO with giant, weighted whammy bar (!!!!!!)....and Andrew WK told me if he ever got success he'd have one built...but then he got success and forgot! CRAP! Someone call Yamaha! I also love the idea of running the whole band thru a wah wah or other effects!

Did you play with inear monitoring or were those earplugs just for hearing-protection?
@ThomasLang006 жыл бұрын
Just for hearing protection. We used very loud wedges on stage, totally old-school!
@tripledrum85756 жыл бұрын
Which sticks are you using on your practice pad?
@DBSplayers7 жыл бұрын
hey thomas what kind of IEM are you wearing? they don't have any wires. do you just use them for isolation?
@ThomasLang007 жыл бұрын
We used (very loud!) wedges for monitoring on that tour and I am only wearing my UE 11Pro IEM's for hearing protection.
@DBSplayers7 жыл бұрын
Stick Trix that's what I already thought , do you prefer having a personal mix and an amp where you can plug your earphones in?
@ThomasLang007 жыл бұрын
It depends on the situation. Generally yes, I prefer to have my own mixer and make my own stage/monitor mix but with Paul's trio it was different because Paul prefers to have loud amps and wedges on stage so Pete and I used the same old-school approach and we all went for wedges and a really traditional, loud and beefy Rock 'n Roll stage sound. I just wore the IEM's for hearing protection because it was brutally loud on stage.

Am I the only one who is seeing some Zildjians and Sabians at around 11:40? What happened to your beautiful Meinls Thomas?
@JerryBeatFreak7 жыл бұрын
Cymbals weigh a lot, and flying with them is no fun (Something about large sheets of metal and customs don't go well together). So to travel light and with less hasstle, I'm guessing he's using backline/rented gear.
@ThomasLang007 жыл бұрын
they couldn't provide Meinl cymbals at that show and I had to make do with another brand
@ThomasLang007 жыл бұрын
Exactly!

Can Savaryego werd. Maybe importing Meinl to Brazil is a lot more expensive.

FIREBALL!!!!!! YESSSSS!!!! IAN PAICE!!!!!! I always say I love Bonham, but he wasn't even the best drummer of the big 3!! BOTH Bill Ward of Sabbath and Paicey of DP are far superior players. (Well, paicey is likely the most limited of the 3, but the most skilled, while Ward is the most creative etc.) I always cite "FIREBALL" as the first speed metal tune due to ian's doublekicks!

It's kinda weird an artist like this using rented equipment,instead of being supported by the brands we see with him always...
@ThomasLang006 жыл бұрын
I AM using equipment from my sponsors. Every single time I tour without my own personal gear I am being supported by my sponsors. My sponsors work with rental/backline companies, distributors and retailers to make sure I get the gear I need wherever i am in the world. Only when a promoter can't provide the brands I endorse I have to make a compromise and play something else. In some countries it's impossible to get my exact spec list and rather than not play, of course I'll play on some other brand. It's not kinda weird. It's how this works.
