After 1999 the 2.0 was not offered. This video is very similar to the 2.4, however, it covers everything on the 1999 Eclipse 2.0 timing belt replacement. The video was a little long so that I could cover everything. I put it into a part one and part 2. Part 2 is much shorter. See also my other videos on Eclipse. Hey just bought a 1995 talon. Has exact motor yet the belt kit has a mechanical or hydraulic tensioner option. Do you recall which one you had put in this engine??

hello love the vids I have a 98 RS and was wondering if you can do a vid on how to replace a head gasket and valve cover gasket. i have found a lil coolant int the first spark plug hole and I'm guessing that means my head gasket is bad and or just the valve cover gasket went bad but time to replace both anyway thanks.

I just got a 98 eclipse and it cranks over but won’t start, it’ll run for a second but then shut off, I’ve replaced everything fuel related, new alternator and only thing I can think of is timing

He cut it cuz the only way would be takin off the cam sprocket to remove Back side of cover

How did you take off the harmonic balancer with the crows foot ? Mine just simply won’t come off

i wrap wire around it, lots of wire. however you auto parts store will loan you the correct puller with a deposit that is fully refundable when you return it. thanks for watching.

Great video, I have a Neon the head was sent out for a valve job. Not sure how to realign the cam gears. looks like it is very similar to the Eclipse engine set up. Have not been able to figure out the cam gears set up. think the exhaust is just closing and intake about to open on #1 at TDC ? sound right? Thank you for the great video.

yeppers, that is correct. when your done installing, rotate the engine by hand ( socket on crank sprocket ) rotate it at least two times around to make sure no valves are hitting a piston. thanks for watching.

great videos of the 420a engine. I've been looking for something that actually walks someone through the process. one thing that I've been looking forward to see, is how to place the belt back on. I don't know which way to place the slack. in between the cams and tensioner? or between the tensioner and crank.

slack will always be to your right. but the tensioner will pull it snug. great question. just remember when the belt is finally tight the gears should line up. so worse case rock 1 tooth of on the left cam, to the left thanks for watching.

maybe relay or the fan itself, especially if stock it will need replacing

You should have said that you cut the inner timing cover in order to change the water pump. The only way to keep it in one piece is to remove the cam gears and then retorque them after you reinstall them.

lol well i justfixed my car that had bent valves. the person put it back in the car, but now there is a ticking noise. it drives, and it runs, but when i come to a complete stop, it wants to shut off and die. plus the car shakes alot as well . i dont want to fix the valves again, im broke after that ):

Well I was wondering if you could help me. I have a 98 eclipse the same one as in the video you made. And my car is over heating but when I open the radiator cap to see if water is flowing through the thermostat housing there isn't any water flowing. Would that mean that my water pump went bad?

And also i took the thermostat out to maximize the water flow so it's not the thermostat. And I flushed the system, also put a garden hose in the thermostat housing to clear up and blockage if there was any. While I was doing this I left the drain plug for the radiator out so that I could see if water was flowing through the system and it was. So it's not because I have a blockage in the system. So would that mean it's my water pump?

yes water pump, or a air bubble in the system. after re filling, let it run for at least 20 to 25 min with the cap off to ensure no air is left in the system ( very important ) thanks for watching.

You didnt even make this video right you did not completed you missed a lot of important stuff if you're not going to take the time to do the video right don't do it at all you still never showed how the heck did you put on the timing belt all of a sudden you just put on the cover and it's running that's pretty dum.
