Welcome to Episode Nine of my Man Bun Monthly series. In the last Man Bun Monthly episode, we looked at six man bun accessories every guy needs for a good looking man bun. You can watch that here: • ✅ 6 Man Bun Accessorie...
Also, for anyone interested in my new Sexuality Monday episodes, you can find Episode 1 - How to Deal With Homophobic People here: • ✅ How To Deal With Hom...
Ok, now let’s get down to business. In this video we're gonna be talking about a couple of things that you can do to make your man bun look more masculine. This question has popped up quite a bit which I thought it was necessary to do something about.
So, here we are and we're doing it. So, tip number one for making your man bun look a little bit more masculine. This one's gonna be the most obvious one, but it's facial hair. So, obviously facial hair is a feature that males have. Now, if you look at me, my face is very round, right?
So, without all this facial hair, you can see back in my like, check-in 16, I had a bare face and my face looked very round. And what I feel like beard hair does, or a bit of facial hair, is a, it helps shape my face to stop making it look so round but it's also enhancing the fact that I'm a male.
So yeah, I feel like it really enhances the masculine look of my face and ever since I started wearing it and playing around with my beard hair I feel like yeah, it does me a service.
But on the other hand, as well, so this leads me into tip number two, not a lot of you guys can grow facial hair. I mean my facial hair is pitiful as it is, like it's quite patchy and whatever, but it still serves me pretty good with what I have. Now, a lot of you guys might have very, very, very scarce facial hair so it's hard for you to have a masculine looking appearance.
A good way that you can counteract not being able to grow facial hair and still have a masculine looking man bun, is maybe considering getting the undercut man bun.
I always find like a shaven side, or shaven sides, make a more masculine appearance. Maybe because women just do not ever shave, well they do, they do shave their head but it's very uncommon.
But a shaven head is like a masculine trait, as well, that we kinda see in society.
So, by shaving up the sides, you give your head a little bit more length which can give it more shape but also yeah, you get that slick, shaven look which I feel really enhances masculinity. So, if you can't grow facial hair, try that out.
A full man bun might not be the best thing for you, you just kind of have to weigh it up. And if you can grow facial hair, maybe even try having a bit of shaven sides, as well. Then you've got like double masculine happening. So, moving onto tip number three.
Tip number three is to bold your features a little bit more. So with, I've discussed growing facial hair and how that can shape your face and make your face look more boof, like manly. But also, looking at your eyebrows and your eyelashes, they're a really good way to enhance your facial features, as well.
And because your facial features are on your face, they're very close to the hair, so it kind of ties the picture all in together. So, if we've got bold here, bold here, we can then look at the feminine looking hairstyle and go, okay, this is definitely a male. Do you know what I mean? It's like a differentiator and I feel like bold features really scream masculinity.
I've got my eyebrows on in this video as you can see. I've actually got accustomed to doing different shapes on my eyebrows. And I usually have a bit of patchiness through here. So, with my little brush tool and my eyebrow thing, I just go fwoop, and fill them in.
I also blink on it as well, just to enhance my eyelashes a little bit more and give me that bolder effect to tie in the whole look to my face. And that's tip number three.
If you want to see any of my eyebrow videos, click any of these links:
Simple Eyebrow Tutorial For Guys: • Eyebrow Goals Made Eas...
Natural Eyebrow Tutorial: • Natural Eyebrow Tutori...
Eyebrow Shaping: • Eyebrow Shaping - Men'...
For the other 2 tips, make sure you watch till the end of the video and let me know what you think.
As for new man bun video ideas, I have run a little bit low, so if any of you out there that have ideas about what I can do next for the man bun monthly episode, that would be great.
Maybe we could even do a deeper dive into the eyebrows thing or we could do a deeper dive into the colour schemes to wear and I could show you some different things to wear with it.
You let me know what you wanna see, okay? But yeah, I hope you found this informative and I'll see you next month for the next episode.
Yours in good hair,

I tried many things to look "more masculine" (even a full beard), but where ever I go people almost always tell me "Hello Ma'am" (then realize I'm a man and apologize) because they don't actually look at the person in front of them, they just see a silhouette at first. And if this silhouette has long hair, it must be a woman. The fact that my hair is light blond doesn't help either. So now I no longer try to look "more masculine". I'm just me and I'm very happy with it. I don't sport a manbun very often (except at home, always low).

I think the mid or lower bun makes most people look bald from the front and that’s really hard on your facial features aka it’s really hard to pull off. I think the high bun really helps you look better.

If I could suggest a video topic, how about a video that talks about starting out at the gym. I was a bit sickly growing up so I haven't been to the gym since middle school🤕💀 so I've maintained a 135-145 weight for about 8 years now and am incredibly skinny. (Lean, but you can tell I used to be the sickly type) and the biggest thing stopping me from going back into a gym is the simple fact that I have ZERO idea of where to start, what equipment does what,... What am I supposed to eat. And I'd imagine I can't be the only one with this level of intimidation

This might sound weird, but, I feel I make pink look masculine in a strange way, I have a man bun, kinda look similar to Thomas, but, you are better looking and cleaner, and I think thats what it is, I will where a pink shirt, but, it will be tight fitting like you said, or I have cargo shorts on, or my skate shoes nullify the feminist side of the pink. My scruffy looking facial hair probably helps me out a bit too, I always look messy, but, not necessarily too untidy if that makes sense 😂
@thomasinaction
@thomasinaction 5 жыл бұрын
I love that. Adaptability is great and I agree, the juxtaposition of cargo with pink can tie it into a masculine look. Thanks for sharing this. Hopefully other guys here will take a chance on wearing pink now haha!
@joshdrayton1230
@joshdrayton1230 5 жыл бұрын
If you go back only slightly more than a century you'll find that pink was seen as a distinctly masculine colour. The whole "pink for girls, blue for boys" was only introduced by manufacturers as a marketing tool around the 1940s (so they could sell more than just white clothes for babies). So the whole thing is a con, really. And best ignored.

I’m too stupid just to make normal man bun. I watch tutorials and etc but when I try it always looks... awkward? Dreads take a lot of maintenance, and there's a social stigma around non-black people doing dreads. If you're willing to deal with that then by all means do you
@thomasinaction
@thomasinaction 5 жыл бұрын
Nice one. I agree with Aziq Auqil, don't do dreads unless you are fully committed because they are permanent. And if you don't like them it will be back to ground zero for you. Also from what you said, you like to change your mind (which isn't a bad thing) but dreads will limit that dramatically. If you are going to grow it out, commit to that, get to the goal, see how you like it and then make your decision based on that. I thought I wanted a lowered undercut but then decided I like having all my hair long too much so I decided against it in the end. But I had to reach my goal first.

Masculine and “man bun” shouldn’t be used in the same sentence. 95% of men can’t pull it off and not say femininity or submissiveness. My brain, like many other men go into an automatic first impression judgment scoring system. Negatives are piercings, bad tats, grunge beard, penciled handlebar mustache, slipping pants, sandals, crooked or turned hat and prettied up hair .... like a man bun. On the other hand, if this is a communication thing and your intent to say “this is where I am”, you may have great success in attracting or repelling other mindsets.

A man bun is as masculine as anything else. People need to get over the stereotypes. Women are shaving their heads these days. Do they look masculine? I know this is an issue for people but it's kind of a shame.

I love your view on it :) I agree it's a shame that it's not the way it is but that's what it is.

Umm no offense, but your man bun doesn’t look masculine ever. It’s not a knock on you as you look good and you rock the look well, but the masculine look requires far, far less polish and requires you to be rough around the edges so to speak. A big part of it is not looking like you care as much as you do, but in your case it’s always obvious that every part of your look is planned and arranged.

There is no such thing as "masculine man bun". Man buns were cringe even in 2016 when they were trending.
